Whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :sad1: (I hope I was able to convey the whine in my voice in print...)

OK, folks, I have a practical transportation logistics question for y'all -- I tried posting it on the transportation board, but no help last time I checked...

We get hopper passes, but I try to plan our days mostly around one park, or at least one area, to avoid wasting a lot of time on buses. So...one day of our trip we have breakfast at Boma at 8 am, we want to go to Blizzard Beach when they open at 10 am, stay until maybe 1 pm (I am very fair skinned with freckles, so I have to be very careful with too much sun/water, especially midday), then go to HS for the rest of the day. It's EMH for HS that night until midnight, and we have a dinner ADR for PT 50's at 6:35.

(OK, just an aside, but do you realize how many acronyms we Disney fanatics use? My DH was trying to read something I posted and he could not decipher it! Anyway, I know that all of you here completely understand)

We are staying at POFQ. It has been suggested to me that the best way to get to Boma by 8 am will be by taxi. Not free like the bus, but a lot less stress and a lot quicker. Do you guys agree? So I thought we'd just bring our bathing suits, change from our park clothes to our suits at BB, then back to park clothes when we are done at BB. It seems like such a waste of time to go all the way back to POFQ to drop off wet bathing suits -- think I could just roll up our damp suits in big Ziploc bags and stuff them in my mini backpack for the day? Or try to get a locker once we get to HS? Doesn't seem like they'd take up too much space, and we won't have towels -- we'll just rent them at BB. But is there even a bus that goes from BB to HS? There used to be a great transportation wizard on OLP that would tell you the best way to get from place to place and how long it will be, but they evidently removed it because it was outdated :sad2: Too bad because it was a lifesaver last year.

Anyway...Mayers...help!

Katie - The buses do start running early. You should be able to take a bus to AK. (I believe the buses start running around 7:00 a.m. because there is a breakfast at AK that people will have 8:00 A.M. ADRs for.) Then you should be able to pick-up a bus to AKL for your breakfast. But, when you get on the bus, tell your bus driver that you have an ADR at Boma at AKL and ask if he will just drop you off there. Often the bus drivers will do that on these early morning runs. If not, you can just take a bus from AK to AKL.

I taxi would be less stressful, but you would have to pay for it.

Last year we had 8:00 a.m. ADR for CRT at MK. We took the bus and it was not a problem.

You should be able to take a bus from BB to DHS. I think you have a great idea with your suits. If it seems to bulky or heavy just rent a locker.

The only place I know of that you cannot take a bus from one park to another is MK to Epcot and Epcot to MK. There you must take the monorail. Not sure about DHS to Epcot and vice versa, you may have to take the boat. We have taken the boat and it is very nice ride. Guest services at the park is usually very helpful if you have a logistics question like that.

We have taken a taxi a few times from place to place. I think it would run us around $15 plus tip.

Hope this helps.

NC - i know ifo was for KB but very helpful to me too... Thank you...

Shelly - well i didn't do anything for trip other then grab all my DD clothes of what she is taking... tommorow i'll probably start packing.... my DH wants to guy buy some more clothes for trip... none of the Dis shirts fit him :( he's a XXXL... remember he's 6'3 and like 275.... big guy... so we gotta get him clothes elsewhere....

I think I had my crew at the bus stop at 7 AM for our breakfast last year. We missed the 7 A.M. bus but we were on the 7:20 bus and had plenty of time to make our 8:00 A.M. ADR.

If you are at CR, Poly, or GF, there is not a bus to MK or Epcot, you must take the monorail. FYI. I know lots of you eat at these locations. Hope this helps!

Last year we took a taxi from Epcot to AK. I had never seen the parade at AK and we were running late and I was nearly in tears as I really wanted to see it. (My DH is a softy when I tear up because it rarely happens.) I was afraid a bus would take to long. The cab was very quick and we made it in time for the parade. We even had time to get a snack and found a place in the shade.

Cab prices may have increased from last year due to gas prices. I don't want anyone to be shocked if there cab costs $20 or more. I would imagine that the price has gone up.

Sheesh... gas is going up.... thanks for the info... only 4 days left NC... i bet you can't wait..... my mom also leaves on fri but they are driving down...they are crazy.... YAY for DISNEY....

NC - Do you happen to know what time the monorail starts running? I would assume it also starts at 7am like the buses because of 8am ADR's at MK, but the CM I talked to told me that they don't run until after 8am. Personally I don't think she had a clue what she was talking about, but she has made me a bit nervous. :scared:

We have that 7:30am ADR at Ohana (Poly). She told me there was no possible way for us to make it there on time. I was planning to be at the bus stop by 7am and take the first bus to MK and then either take a bus or the monorail to the Poly. I figured it would be close, but possible. And I planned to ask the MK bus driver if he would drop us at the Poly. But she is saying that there is NO BUS that early unless there are EMH's! :crazy2: I think she's crazy!!

The monorails run early. I do know we have taken early monorails to be at 8 am rope drop for AM EMH at Epcot and at MK. I think when the EMH was at Epcot, I would try to leave the CR at 7:00 AM. (The boats may start later, like the boat from poly to MK, but those monorails are running.) People staying at those monorail resorts have breakfast ADRs at other monorail resorts so those monorails are running. Maybe someone is staying at the Poly, they may have an early ADR at the CR, so they need to use the monorail. They are also very "cool" in the morning, We always complain about being cold when we are taking an early monorail.

Oh, FYI - It was NOT an AM EMH at MK the morning we had our CRT breakfast at 8:00 A.M. and we took an early bus. Also, our ADR was for 8:15 but we were there at 8:00 AM and were seated immediately.
For those theme park early breakfast ADRs my understanding is that if you have an ADR not exactly at 8 AM but if you get there early, they will seat you. Most people run late for those ADRs and they restaurant is empty because you are there for the first seatings of the day. That was the case for us. We go there at 8 AM and they seated us. We were out and over by tomorrowland for rope drop. My DH even had time to go rent a locker for our magic wands and swords, and pictures.

Would any of you like for me to be a Fairy Godmailer for your upcoming trip? Hopefully your kids would get the card before your trip!

PM me your child's name, address, and age. If they have a favorite character, include that. I will mail a post card to them from WDW. :thumbsup2

Hi All... I have been a big lurker for a while and have finally decided to join in the fun.

We are going for our second family trip in May. We will be going May 11th - 15th. I am trying to talk hubby into staying till the 16th though. We will be staying at Pop. Our first trip with you children was in Nov and my husband and I went back in Jan with our siblings, (my sister/his brother) at separate times. It was a great break.

This time next in 4 wks we will be at AK just finishing Character Breakfast at Tusker House. We (obviously) have not done a Character meal yet so any suggetions or tip or stories on how they are please let me know.

We also want to catch Spectro Magic that night. That is the only day they are running it while we are there. The trick is my kids do no stay up late. We tried doing Epcot Fireworks with them last trip and my son slept right through them and my daughter was half awake. We also went towards the end of our trip so they were pretty much done. This time we are going to try for the first day and maybe they will stay up later. We are going to go back to the hotel mid day for a break so they can refresh and maybe rest a little.

The only other reservation we have is for Tonys on Wednesday. I have read a few bad reviews so I am not sure if we are going to keep it. A friend told me it was good so that is why we booked it.

I have heard that the crowd levels should be pretty good and the weather nice (warm/hopefully not hot). I live in Florida (panhandle) but the weather in Orlando is usually a little different from where I am.

Thanks for letting me join in.

FYI - There is NOT a bus from MK to Poly. Only monorail or boat.

Thanks NC, I didn't realize that there was no bus service from MK to the Poly. I guess I would have figured that out when I couldn't find a bus stop for it!! :rotfl:

I planned to take the monorail anyway figuring it would be faster, but then the CM said it wouldn't be running that early because there are not EHM's at MK that day. I am definatley going to ask the MK bus driver to drop us at the Poly! Hopefully I will get a nice driver!! :wizard:

Welcome FloridaMom!!! :goodvibes Glad you decided to join in!!

A lot of us on this thread went this same week in May last year. Many of us are going again. It was a great time to go. Wait times were under 20 minutes! Weather was in the mid 80's, but cooler in the evenings!

I've never been to either of the restaurants you are going to, but character meals are awesome!! The characters come right to your table, no waiting in long lines out in the sun!! Definitely worth it in my opinion!

Feel free to ask questions. We all help each other out on here!!

Thanks for the welcome... We are super excited...

Also is there any other passholders going at this time. We are Florida resident seasonal passholders. We got an email last week that they are opening Toy Story Mania for passholders May 9 - 12 (I believe are the dates). We are excited to get to do this. We were not really planning on going to DHS but since we can do this we are going to pop over there for that the first day. Just wanted to see if anyone else is going to be able to ride it early. I have tried looking for any height requirements and so far I have not seen any. My son is 2 so I hope he will be able to ride with us.

GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES!!! and sea if you're here :goodvibes :flower3:

i wanted to catch up with everyone earlier today, but my day at work has been CRRRAAAAAZZZZZZYYYY busy! tax time...

thanks everyone for all your tips for my ankle and for asking about me
you guys are too sweet! it feels ok... i didn't rest it as much as i should have, but when i could i used the frozen corn method

thanks for the tip about the DIY ice pack katie :thumbsup2 i can't wait to try that one later b/c the corn was good, but it wouldn't stay still and it kept falling off and blah blah... i don't think imy ankle's too bad, though (knock on wood) it's just kinda sore... i can walk on it fine and the only time it hurts is if i roll it in a circle (which reminds me of that really bad old joke....)

"doc, but it really hurts when i do this" and the doctor says "well then don't do that " :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

oh. i am the QUEEN of cheese :rotfl2:

anyways, it only hurts when i do that, which of course makes me want to keep doing it  so, i am trying to keep positive about everything and not to freak myself out... we got a little bit of wedding stuff done this weekend, but not much... it's less than 3 weeks away now!! :scared1:

whenever i get a chance i will give you guys my new and hopefully improved updated dining schedule... i canceled some stuff that after i took another look at it, just wasn't gonna work...like 3 meals most days  hahaha:rotfl: i learned a lot since then thanks to my mayers :snooty:

oh, and welcome floridamom!!! :welcome: everyone here is super nice!!!

talk to everyone later - - - wish me luck today and tomorrow - - - tax season's almost over!!!:yay: :woohoo: :yay:

Hi Everyone!

We are having a heat wave here in Los Angeles!

Check out our weather today:

http://www.livinginthepalisades.com/coastcam/

Yesterday, at DL it got up to 97!!! The whole family went yesterday, so we left early and got in the main gate about 8:10 a.m. got on all the major rides Space Mountain, Buzz, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, POTC, Big Thunder, Pinocchio, and Indiana Jones, in less than 3 hours! The crowds were not too bad, it must have been the heat. After that, we headed over to DCA to get fast pass for the Grizzly River Run, and then we had lunch at Tony Roma's. across the street. Finishing lunch, we walked back to DCA, rode CA Screamin' HTH, and Orange Stinger and Grizzly River Run - we got soaked!!! I went over to the Grand Californian Hotel to relax in the lobby, while my wife and the boys shopped. Glad I did, my wife got me new shirt - such a sweetie!

Left DLR around 5:10 not too tired, but still hot. What a great day with the family!
