NC- thanks so much for the inspirational words of encouragement...
I guess ya'll all heard about Romney...
The whole process is crazy. Every day brings somehting new to the race.
MAry Cat came home yesterday and said her history teacher has been talking about the race this year, and I am really peeved about it. Mark is so mad he is thinking of scheduling a conference with the teacher.
I am all for teaching the kids about the political process, what the candidates believe, etc. Anything that is factual, anything that would be a lesson for the kids. NOT personal opinion. HOWEVER, and this is a big however...
This teacher has badmouthed every candidate EXCEPT the one he is voting for (Obama).
Among other things, he has said that as far as Hillary goes, she and her husband have no right being in the white house b/c of Bill's extra-marital affairs.

( I'm sorry, but since when does a History teacher have the right to talk to my child about infidelity?!????) And, what makes that a good enough reason to keep her from being the next POTUS? What about her experience? Nope, nothing said as far as that.
He said that John mcCain makes him sick to his stomach and that there is something about him that creeps him out.

I could never say this about a POW, regardless of his political affiliation, simply b/c anyone that is tortured the way that man was deserves nothing BUT admiration and respect.
He then rambled off a whole bunch of incorrect statements that we have all heard before, but none of them had any merit.
He said Huckabee would never get the nod b/c he is a Preacher. Well, there may be truth in that, but still... to say it to a bunch of 12-13 year olds...
Romney, he said was just plain weird.
And that's just the beginning of it.
He made the kids come home and ask out of the blue who the parents were voting for, and then they went around the room the next day and reported what the parents had said. Um, since when is it anyone's business WHO we vote for? I mean, isn't that why the voting process is the way it is...IN PRIVATE???? And what if our kids don't agree with the teachers opinion as to who the next President should be? Will that in some way cause the teacher to look at our children in a different light???
As you can tell, I am a bit upset, and still haven't decided how to handle Mr. History Teacher. I'd like to sock him in his left eyeball but since I turned 29 (!) I made a vow to not be so , well, violent, if you will.
Okay, sorry to ramble. Vent over.
Why was it again that I chose this school district???
