Yes, the Tour de France starts today (Prologue yesterday) - love Levi and George! Saw them in the tour de California in January. And loved seeing Venus win yesterday.

Nice finish of teh Tour today, pretty exciting.

LOL at no car in the garage, that's why we built the barn. LOL

Will get back to ya on the PM

Hadley, I just read about your little park and snow. What do you recommend that we see when we are in your beautiful state at the end of Sept. There will be 4 adults - no grandson on this part of the trip. I just thought someone who lives there might have some suggestions that I haven't read about in the AAA tour book. Thanks for any info you can send my way. We will be coming down from Prince Edward Island. We plan to take I-95 then Hwy #2.

Anna--We would LOVE to show you around some if you'd like. We are allways happy to entertain visitros to this lovely neck of the woods. I have to look at a map and see where it is your are driving (we haev only bee nhere 2 1/2 years--the major road is I-93). I will get back to you soon with some recomendations.

Kelly--actaully should we choose to invite D back (we probably will) he CAN come back from year to year. Of the 12 kids dropped in our area last week ten were "repeaters." One was on her 7th year with the same family and three were on their sixth! Today was more low key. We did our regular Sunday errand running trip to Concord (Target, Michael's, etc.). We always get popcorn combos at the Target food court before we shop (popcorn and a soda for $1--what a deal). D was totally excited and high fiving everyone that he did not have to share his popcorn with anybody! We did take in a show at the planetarium before heading home. I think D needed a break from all the bugs out of doors anyway (I think he is getting MORE scared of them by the day:confused3 ). So, to coutner act, we have just finished our two Magic School Bus books about bees and flowers and are borrowing A Mosquito Buzzes in Your Ear from a neighbor. Any one have any other ideas (he literally runs screaming into my arms if he sees even a gnat and now cries inconsolably until we can get indoors--I feel terrible but we cannot be indoors all of the time--it rather defeatas the purpose and we have things to do).

Ok, so who turned on the furnace!  It is 11:15 and it is still 85 degrees outside! The high today was 93 or so. One more day then the 70's and 80's

Sunday night our town had its fireworks. Definately not Disney, but they were ok.

Here are a couple of pictures. I was trying a new technique and some came out ok

Hi guys, I've been slowly working my way through my photos, getting them cropped and ready for printing. I didn't take as many as Deb, but I had over 1500, and my parents had 1100. I am up to Gibraltar now, and I forgot I had found these, and taken a picture. A little pricey (7.95 pounds), but I never thought I'd find a fish extender in a shop in Gibraltar, complete with fish!

OMG I love the Gibraltan fish extender! Too much.:thumbsup2

Debbie (and the rest of you to the west) I feel for you. We will get those high temps starting today (they were ushered in yesterday by a day almost completely filled with major electrical stroms).

With all the rain yesterday D did not get much Fresh Air! We retreated to Funspot which is billed as the largest arcade in the country (it is huge and most world records on various games are set there). At Christmas time David's company gave out Funspot gift cards :woohoo: (it has bingo and bowling and restraunts so adults should not be oppossed to the idea). Several people did not want them and all gave them to Dave as they know our kids (we are forever bringing him lunch or running a part from one plant to another for them or something). Anyway I still had $100 in gift cards left. So we had a banner day (four kids, Marika had a friend over). We bowled two games, one of ten pin (normal bowling that Funspot has for the tourists) and one of candlestick (wierd little balls that you get three of per frame and skinny pins--which is the "normal" bowling in NH). The skies cleared for a bit and we went out and played mini golf. Then we had junk food for lunch and spent tokens. My own kids could not belive I kept saying "yes" to the Can we?" questions. But hey, what else would we do in the rain and the gift cards expire in October anyway. :dance3:
Of note, my kids tend to spend the vast majority of their tokens on skee ball (they get that from me--I love that game). D spent most of his on really violent gun games (which he had clearly played before). I do not think this is a NYC thing (lots of Rio's friends are experts at those also), but if I were to step on a soap box here I could go on for quite some time about how I feel such things have been proven to increase violent tendancies, etc. But, I will spare everyone the soapbox (that was just a teaser).

So, who else in this heat wave has had to endure it with no AC?:scared:

Hi Everyone

Great updates on D Hadley - thanks.

I think we have talked about this before but I know I've forgotten - is anyone planning to come out to Disneyland for the 1/2 marathon on Labor Day weekend?

Just curious.

Ken

I would be interested in meeting with people. I think Anna and Kelly are participating.

It's noon here in Maple Valley and it is 86 degrees, heading for 91 today. We do not have air, but we started the day with the house tempurture at 68 and we are now just at 70. It might not get too bad today. I don't expect the inside temps to get passed 80 today.

It's beautiful here when the suns shines and it's shinning! We are hosting 5 teens from Texas this weekend through the following weekend. (They are here to help us with Sports Camp, our summer out reach.) So after we get the basement put back togeter (I cleaned the carpets yesterday) the boys and I are headed down to the lake to relax and soak up the sun!

Lori

yecch...I am just getting up to start my day. Its 5pm and 91 HHH here in NJ. When I left work this morning it was 85!!!

I am just hoping that the heat has wilted everyone. I really hate sweating my _ _ _ off when people get heat stupid!

So, to that end, please everyone, drink lots of water, stay away from caffeine, and diet beverages. Eat light, and just generally stay inside out of the sun.

Tomorrow we leave for Disneyland - so I will be away for a week...will I have a lot of reading when I get home???

Cayla

I had Marika, Rio, D, Marika's lovely friend Haley and our sweet five year old neighbor girl for about 6 hours today (and had to get them all in suits and sunscreen and out the door to the beach). It was only 5 kids and for only about 1/4 of a day and I am beat. <insert smilie of someone passed out on the ground exhausted here>

Hello all.....well after a much too long hiatus....the Tig has returned! :tigger:

:)

I want to first say a heart-felt thanks to all who have sent emails and PM's and posted their well wishes and condolences on the boards here. It has meant a great deal to me. This has, obviously, been a roller-coaster of a couple weeks (and not a fun Rockin' Roller Coaster or Space Mountain kind either!!). It's literally been probably the most traumatic and emotionally draining experiences of my life....and knowing that so many people, in so many places were thinking about me and my girls has truly been something to smile about----even when smiling was hard to do. So thanks!! :thanks:

Anyhow...I haven't been TOTALLY away from the boards....I've been lurking, just not posting. I'm not even going to TRY to catch up and comment on all that I've "missed"....other than to comment on Deb's 4th of July photos (which look great, by the way) and her "not Disney" remark:

From our house's back patio we have one of the city's best view's of the Rochester fireworks each year. I was in a not pleasant mood that night (day after the last of our funerals) and I was very wrapped up in a movie or TV show or something and when we heard the fireworks start Jason said, "Don't you want to go out on the porch and watch?" Without missing a beat I looked at him and said..."I'm not sure...go peek out the window and tell me...are they better than the fireworks we saw in Barcelona?" :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Seriously, why bother watching non-Disney fireworks ever again at this point?! :rotfl:

Anyhow...good to be "back" and still looking forward to all our trips late summer and in the fall.....although my whine of the day is the fact that after buying our tickets to "Tarzan" on Broadway, Disney announces they're closing the show so we have tickets now...but there is no show to see. BAH!!!!!

Funny, I said the same thing on the 4th. My friends were worried about me missing the fireworks because it was too smoky, so we stayed inside looking at pictures from the trip. I said "hey, I've just seen some of the best fireworks in the world, I'm not too worried about missing these today!"

Welcome back, Tig!

I did jury duty this week and am busy catching up. I'm hoping to sneak away from work to get over to see Cayla at DL.

Garage sale was big and great - sold a ton of stuff and now we are going through almost 2000 books trying to get rid of 1000. :scared1:

Hi,

we are on the WB repo and was wondering if anyone had (if such a thing exists) a navigator for the Teens/Stack?

I have had a look through many pages but cant see anything.

Many thanks

Lorraine

There are no longer separate nav's for kids activities (club, lab, stack). Now all of the ativities are incorporated into the daily navigator. With the new format just look for "teen" on the lefthand column (like a TV guide with teen, adult, lab, family, etc being the different "channels").

We had the same thought about the fireworks on the 4th! DH loves fireworks, but just couldn't get the rest of us interested in fighting the crowds anywhere to go see them. Everything seems so "blah" after the spectacular show we had in Barcelona!

Hey all! Just a quick check-in. In 48 hours we will be at the Salt Lake City airport headed to Dublin, Ireland and then on to Barcelona to get on the Magic on the 18th! Won't be the same without all of you guys though. But we do finally get a family vacation with Jamie (dd-15). And to top it off, in the summer! Rarely do we get a chance to do that with Robert's work schedule and Jamie's performance schedule. Me? I just take the time off whenever!

Hey DEBBIE-I forgot to ask.....Did Peter's gift make it okay in his stateroom? Never heard...............

So that means you don't have to start packing for another 46 hours - right?
:rotfl2:

Have a great trip!!!
