I was watching that this morning too! It was nice to see CC again - not to mention that beautiful Disney ship! I was on that before our going over the Atlantic cruise - wish they had shown more of the ship and the island - but I guess real life gets in the way. Wonder if they will show more tomorrow morning???

No,... they said they will be back in New York tomorrow. So they must be flying out from the Bahamas.

It was nice to see it again :)

Hi everybody! We are finally back from our 2nd cruise, too! We are so tired! Our connections from Rome to Orlando were terrible! We weren't even in the computer for having flights from Rome! But the ticketing agent went ahead and put our luggage through to Orlando and gave us boarding passes to Frankfurt. She said they would straighten everything out there! So we sat in the Red Carpet lounge drinking free wine and beer for 4 hours, but we DID get to Chicago in business as I had set up 4 months ago with my airmiles......it was OF COURSE a COMPUTER glitch......much as I love computers and I cannot live without them, sometimes it causes trouble! ANYHEW! Got to Chicago and the wind was so strong that many flights were cancelled and ALL of them were delayed. We had an 8 hour wait there! NO FREE WINE or BEER! But at least we could charge up our computer, phone and MP3 player! got home at Midnight Orlando time after leaving Rome at 6am Rome time. I have no idea how long that is!

But we are home and all our clothes are in piles all over the bedrom and diningroom. Got some laudry done, and trying to get back on Orlando time! And paying bills!

I would do it again in a heartbeat! I want to go to all our ports of call and stay at least 3 or 4 days in each one! One of the women I met on the Carnival Cruise wants to go back again, too. We might get a ladies travel trip set up for a couple of years in the future. I can't go next summer, since we are doing the Disney Panama trip.

We saw many of our Disney friends from the cruise in Monaco, the only place our paths crossed. We saw Donna and her brother David, my neighbors down the street, Chris and her boys, Fatih and Pete Coletti and their kids, and several others around the town that I actually didn't get to talk to, just see across the square.

Oh! And I won $100 at Monte Carlo! It was my first and probably my last time there, so I can always say I won at Monte Carlo!

Well, I will send a couple of photo's after I get them organized. I sure am enjoying the trip reports.
It was a trip of a lifetime for us!

Sorry for this long post but here are all the waypoints I recorded during our trip across the Big Blue Wet Thing:

I have a few more waypoints on my smaller GPS but they were ones I used in the various ports.

Scott, you are totally amazing! I had a hard time just remembering what day it was, let alone keep track of where we were!

The ease of our electornic age make it easy???? sometimes. LOL

Glad you are home safe and sound.

That is all super helpful! Thanks so much. I am waiting on just one other final detail to iron itself out before I make final plans...but we're well on our way!

Erik-one more option. We have always flown into John Wayne also (SNA), but this last time Delta had just added a flight into Long Beach (LGB). It is about the same distance from DL as SNA, so you might just want to check those options also.

Supershuttle is great! I have used it many times. I think it is 1-800-BLUEVAN. That's just using my memory though, and I am getting older......

I will be in Anaheim for a Girl Scout Conference I am in charge of November 11-13. I will probably fly in Friday the 9th and be at DL on the 10th so I can get my DL "FIX" before the conference. Sounds like you will be in Palm Springs by then.

If anyone is going to be around DL the weekend of the 10th, let me know.

Also, there is a group of us doing the 1/2 marathon at DL Labor Day weekend.
We will be having a mini-reunion! YIPPEE!

Thanks for all the thoughts on the DisneyLand trip for us. I think we're pretty much set......the reservations aren't made because I have to wait on final approval from work before I can officially book the air and everything...but it's looking like we're going to be flying out on Saturday morning Nov. 3rd from Rochester to SNA and arriving in early afternoon. We'll then take a shuttle to the hotel and we're going to get resrevations at Grand Californian. We'll stay there from Saturday night through til check out on Tuesday, Nov. 6th. Around dinner time we'll get a shuttle back to the airport. Once there we'll go to the Alamo rental car counter and rent a car. It turned out to be only $40 to rent a car at SNA and return it at the Palm Springs the same night. So that's what we're going to do. From there we'll catch the aiport shuttle from the Palm Springs airport over to my conference hall and then my business trip will unfold just like normal.

We still have to make our DVC reservations and buy DisneyLand tickets...but we're very excited as this will be a NEW Disney experience for us!

I have to say I'm feeling rather depresed. Can't we all just bring the Magic home and then live a WDW? I think that might make me feel better! Anyone else?

Lori

Excellent idea Lori. I think that would help me feel better too.

So, when I had my hair trimmed this morning my haridresser asked me the same question I must have been asked at least a half dozen times in the past week. What was the ONE best thing about the trip? Yeegads, I can't even narrow it down to 10! I went into the cruise so excited and with so many hopes I had this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I would surely end up dissapointed as nothing could live up to such ridiculously high expectations. And yet this cruise not only met my expectations but exceeded them. There were big, overarching great things like all of the wonderfull friends I made through the DIS and found I truly connected with onboard and the crew that was superb even by Disny standards. And there are all the moments (short though they were) that just added up to make for one amazing journey: watching Rio getting to let his inner star out (over and over and . . .) and MARIKA my reserved kid letting loose and singing and dancing in HSM karoke with her brother; the best dinner I have ever had at Palos (not because of the food or service but because of the awesome group of people I shared it with); dancing night after night away with so many of you at Rockin' Bar D, hearing John Charles play some John Charles; finally being on board with Ducky (and winning two prints!); playing Pictioanry with people who "get" why we love it the way we do; dancing more nights away at the deck parties (especailly sail away and Pirates), the fireworks in Barcelona, "Fins" with friends, munching churros and wathcing the world go by in Cadiz, quiet moments (few thougth those were) with friends in the lounges or by the pools (and at the late night dessert buffet), etc. etc. So MUCH goes instantly through my mind when anyone asks about what made this trip great (forget life flashing before my eyes, the trip does:rotfl2: ).

I do want to say, we have lived in a lot of places. We have gotten pretty good at making friends quickly. And we do make friends and meet people we like. However, I find many of our relationships are based more on geogrpahy and a common need to be somewhere (work friends, other parents also waiting on their kids at one activity or another, etc.). The result is many of these relationaships are somewhat superficial and do not have staying power once we relocate to another area. I know I only spent 2 weeks with this great group, but I feel many of us have deeper and truer conncections than the run of the mill acquaintenceses that often pass for friends. The sheer fact that we are all the types who not only to take a Disney Cruise, but to take one for 2 solid weeks ups the odds that we have some true possiblity of connecting. I felt we really did do just that with many from this board and I want to thank you all for sharing your time and your lives with us and continuing to do so on this thread even now that the trip is over.

Hadley-you hit it right on the head. Many people think we cruise together because we either are family or have been friends forever. Fact of the matter is, some of our best friendships are with those who love to cruise too. We have met so many through our love of Disney! We continue to cruise together (and sometimes apart) but we try to get together as often as possible.

I think that is what has made our cruises so incredible. The disboards definitely made that possible. Our memories are priceless and we can't wait for the next journey!

Hi Everyone

Shari and I are still trying to get over the colds we caught on the Med cruise.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for a great cruise. And I wanted to let everyone know that the T-shirt sales for the the crossing and first Med cruise raised just over $300 for the Arthritis Foundation. Thanks to everyone for the support!

Ken

I can tell ya that many of us had/have that cold!

Glad to see you back and still making $ for the Arthritis Foundation.

For those just returning, I have 2 photo albums of pictures up. They are only a small sampling of the pictures I took :rolleyes1

If anyone wants any of the pics, just let me know the file number and I would be happy to send you the high resolution version either by email or sending you a CD.

Here is: Magic to the Med Week 1

And: Magic to the Med Week 2

Greetings All!

Well I'm not even going to respond to all the comments about making such good friends aboard the ship...because it will just make me cry :rotfl:  ....plus I think it goes without saying that Jason and I consider ourselves very fortunate to have made such wonderful friends aboard the ship and on these boards....friends who we will look forward to seeing on many Disney Vacations in the future!

On a related note....today was our AIDS Walk here in Rochester....and, as many of you know, I was really working to raise money to support my agency and community.

A number of you, without ever having met me face to face, supported me in the walk and I want you to know how much that meant to me...and how much it helped me. I ended up being the 3rd highest individual fundraiser at the event....I raised over $2000 total...and the event raised just over $80,000 which we consider to be an exceptional success. That couldn't have happened wihtout the support of some of my DIS friends:

Kpros
Eller
OH_6
Gydell
Seaulater
ScottH
Scoobypop
NHDisneylover

:thanks:

Erik-I am so happy you raised so much! How was the walk itself? It rained pretty much all day up here today--miserable for all the poor people up here for Bike Week which started today. I hope you had better weather down in New York.

The big excitement here is that Rio's dance recital is tomorrow. He is so excited he was bouncing around all over hte place this afternoon.

Also, we are working on uploading the first of three albums to imagestation. UNlike, Debbie's fantastic photos, ours focus primarily on our family, but if any one wants to sift through htem there are some good shots of otehrs as well. Also, Debbie, we got lots of photos in Gibraltar, hopefully some of those will ehlp you replace what you lost (but, alas no photos in the terminal). I will post the link once the download is complete.

......
Ken

Good to see ya home Shari and Ken.

Wonder where the colds came from? Hmmmmm.:confused3

Awww. Probably caught them from Captain Jack.
Mine took about 10 days to go away.
But I'm healed and ready to go cruisin' again.

Hey Scott....
What were we singing here? I can't remember.

Was it Margaritaville, Pirate Looks at 40 or WDWGDAS? I know it was not FINS.

It was a great time had by all.:thumbsup2

Beautifully spoken Hadley, and I'm quite sure so many of us know EXACTLY what you're talking about.

With 10 hours locked in a quiet massage room I just keep replaying the events of the two weeks again and again and AGAIN in my mind. :goodvibes

Look forward to more meetings on future vacations with so many of you!
Chris and Rob

Here Here to what Hadley posted, well said.

Bob for the life of me I can not remember the song, It just hit me, A pirate Looks At Forty. That's it.

We had an impromptu weenie roast Friday night and Last Night was a farewell BBQ/Part for some Air Force Officers that work closely with our office. It was Buffett themed, KEWL.

Thursday it snowed and the last two days have been great, got lots done around the house. I hear ya Bob about leaving the yard work, “it’s a Jungle out there Kiddies”. \

Had to move the weather station to get better readings, now it is acting up so that is a project for today.

Might go and try to find a geocache or two.

Have a great day.

I agree. Maybe we should suggest to Disney they let us move in to the Castle, or we could take up squaters rights!

I agree about making lots of friendships on this cruise. I would certainly love to see anyone that is travelling to DL.
