May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise!

Really? How funny how different all our experiences are. Jason and I were literally just talking about the fact that once Disney has a bigger fleet and can start doing more specialty cruises....we'd like to go on one for which the only port is Castaway (because I think they HAVE to have a port in order to do a cruise...but I might be wrong) and then just floats around at sea for 6 or 7 days. We would literally book a 10 day cruise that had no ports or just Castaway as a port because we enjoyed the days at sea so much!!

Erik - I would book that cruise so fast. I talked with Darrell about the same thing - just take me out to sea for 10 days and float around! Pat, I cannot believe your wife didn't enjoy the 6 days - so much to do and so much time to relax. Cynthia - so sorry to hear about your loss. That must have been tough.

Cynthia--I am so very sorry to hear you lost your father.:grouphug: It has really bee na rough year of ups and downs for you hasn't it? My thoughts are with you and I do hope you get your do over and that one is nothing but good things and good news for you both.

Michelle--I am sorry about your grandmother also. What you said about it being a blessind did make sense to me; it was the case wiht my granfather several years ago.

Pat--I am with others in not understanding the six days at sea being too long. I would totally be onboard Erik and Jason's sail to nowhere (or only C.C.) cruise. All those wonderful sea days were great to me--I wasn't in the least bit anxious to see dry ground again!

It's nice to see so many people satrting to post again (yeah I am totally missing everyone STILL--not really expecting for that to go away).

Well I found that I miss the ship so much so Karen NY and I will be onboard bringing the Magic back.

How nice. I so wish I could do the one back. I think it would be even better. Because of the time changes, I was really tired crossing. On the way back you will have even more time on the ship!

Hello everyone,

We had a wonderful time on the cruise and the first half was outstanding. It was wonderful how easy everyone was to talk to and visit with. The lanyards made a huge difference. I didnt spend as much time reaching out to meet people as I wanted to though. While crossing the Atlantic my father fell ill and he passed away before we got to Barcelona. Once we made it home we had to turn around and head to Indiana for his funeral. I have a wonderful and supporting family who understood the travel challenges we faced getting home.
While I was trying to deal with my fathers illness and although I didnt share it with anyone on the ship, I want to tell you all that your smiles and warm hellos made a big difference in my life.
Jeff and I are going to try to get on the west bound Panama Canal cruise next may. Sort of a "do over", I hope I get to meet up with you again soon. We will be at the Boardwalk the last week of October for the food and wine festival. Please let me know if anyone is planning on going and might like to get together.

Cynthia

I'm so sorry!

DH, Mike, didn't have as much fun on the ship as in the ports either. Funny how that works. But not me, Magic. . . take me away.

I just loved being rocked to sleep. I think I could spend the rest of my life on a ship.

Lori

Sign me up for the cruise to nowhere!!! I just love the rocking of the boat, so the boat has to be driving around and not parked. I was actually sad about reaching land after the 6 days at sea. Maybe we should write DCL with our idea. We can't be the only ones. I enjoy Casteaway Cay everytime, but this time, I was feeling like "let's get out to sea. Let's get going!" Stopping there almost just seemed like a formality, though it was beautiful and so uncrowded this time.

All the real organization for that WB cruise seems to be with a banned from DIS group. I wasn't all that comfy over there, as they swear more and seem to party more than I do, but some of them are very nice. I can't say more for fear of being banned, and I will not risk my EB friendships.

First - let me apologize this is going to be a VERY long post since this is my first chance to even think about the boards.

Hello everyone from sunny Barcelona!!

We very sadly had to leave the Magic this morning (well, Wed am - since I am not sure what the time stamp will be on this post!)

I will eventually get a log up and out there, once I get home and sift through all the annoying details of life!

Stacey and Bev did finally make it safe and sound to BCN. For those who were unaware - they were stranded in Madrid for 4 hours, no one spoke English, they didn't have a connecting flight number and Continental was useless.

I have on wonderful things to say about Darren, Heath and Nicole as CM. Darren moved all the planets around to get Barbara and I on the Montserrat excursion with Stacey. It was so beautiful! Heath is an amazing man who had to handle some very nasty (and amazingly stupid) people. He told me that someone wanted to complain to Walt Disney about a problem. (I thought I suffered from CRS....)

Ok - on to the replies to people:
Erik: So sorry you had such a terrible time getting to Orlando. Glad you and Jason are safe and sound now. Don't cry too much about missing the ship - she will come home soon enough and then we will all get to take her somewhere new!!!

Scott: You and Lynn are amazing...we so enjoyed your conversations with us both! Barbara and I really were so happy to meet you both!

Hier is the front picture of the Newspaper
If someone else want it, i can mail it.

PLEASE if you have any more - PM me for my address - I would love a copy and didn't think to buy one when in Barcelona on Friday the 25th.

Hadley - glad to see you are safely home.

Sue: is hubby jealous yet???

Chris and Rob: glad we got to meet - how did dancing go that night? (after we met in the hall with Erik and Jason!) you guys all clean up wonderfully...wish I could claim the same!

anyone want to post your navigators? this site says you send it to feedback@wdwinfo.com
thanks we will love to see them
Give me a month or so - I have all the menus, navigators and other stuff - but it is going to take a while to get it all together.

The picture on the left is what it looked like 2 years ago. On the right, 2 weeks ago.

The chefs need to rethink this one.
I agree!!!!

Hello All
I have just finished my letter to DCL (mostly Kudos to many great CMs with a bit of constructive criticism thrown in) and am wondering if anyone knows if it is better to snail mail it, email it or both (and if both can it be the same letter or do I need to mix it up a bit?).
Thanks
Hadley - give me a day or so to get my memory in gear - I have a email address that actually is the best to send it to. Seems that these things really do get read! PM me on Monday - I should have shaken the info loose by then!

Okay, I have to ask this silly question - were Oscar and Simone dating - I loved them both and they are so cute. By the way, if anybody still wants the paper from Spain with the ship on the cover - let me know - I still have 10 copies left and will mail it out to you.
PLEASE!!! are there any left???? PM - I would love to have one, we all forgot to buy them when in town on Friday the 25th!

If I have my dates right the B2Bs should be off the ship by now. I wonder if they got their fill in 25 days? I know 14 was not enough. So I figure give them two or three days to get home and recover and we should be seeing posts from Kathy and Kelly and Cayla, etc again.:cool1:
Well - when I finally saw Kelly on TUESDAY just before we had to get off the ship - she was doing fine and packing like a mad woman, Kathy and Ted are fine - headed out without trouble. Karen and Alex were also doing well.

Hello everyone,

While crossing the Atlantic my father fell ill and he passed away before we got to Barcelona.
While I was trying to deal with my fathers illness and although I didnt share it with anyone on the ship, I want to tell you all that your smiles and warm hellos made a big difference in my life.
Cynthia
Cynthia - I am So sorry...a do over is definately called for!

OK - where do we sign up??? I want to be on that cruise. Barbara and I agreed the sea days were the best. This group made the trip so much fun, so wonderful and we had such a great time meeting everyone and making new friends.

hmmm - I have to send a letter to Tom McAlpin...maybe I will mention this......

TTFN;
I really have to get some sleep. We have a long day planned exploring Barcelona for Thursday. We don't leave until Sunday. I hope to post again, but don't count on it until Monday from not so sunny NJ.....

Believe it or not, when we were in Tenerife, we met Matt from DCL. He was on Deck 10 and had just arrived to the cruise ship. We were talking with him for quite a while and I asked him if they take suggestions because Darrell and I wanted the "cruise to nowhere." He told us, Disney does not take suggestions, they will not even read a letter if it comes through, it goes straight to legal because they have had problems with people saying, "This was my idea, what do I get out of it." It is a shame, but he warned me that they won't read the letters. Keep posting though, they read the boards!:)

:grouphug: CAYLA--welcome back (back to the thread I mean, and back to reality such as it is--I doubt you are on U.S. soil quite so fast, but who knows?) I still get a chuckle out of thinking of you there in the Promenade lounge enjoying the "show" as all the ladies in heels tried to stay upright on formal night:rotfl:

Welcome back,Cayla! It's nice to see the B2Bers finally slipping back in.It was hard enough to face reality after 14 days, I can't imagine it after nearly a month! How did the second half compare to the first?

Yes, Eric, I agree with you. Deb, your pictures were great and I am going to order some. I am happy to say that I do not have any brothers or sisters, but after this cruise, I have all the brothers and sisters that I have dreamed of. You guys are the best and I would love it if Deann can comed on the double-dipper! Lets go Jerry, we are waiting for the sign up. Buckeye Gal on the Double-dipper board is already threatening to steal my medals - I NEED YOU!!!:)

Hoagie Pie
Still looking into that cruise, but we cant have someone taking our "gold" from us now can we? ill keep checking my sources. If you still have a Barcelona newspaper left, can you send me a copy?

Jerry - Absolutely- we miss you. PM me your address and Hadley and I just got done chatting on the Double-Dipper and I wish everyone could come for dinner and pictionary this weekend!!!:sad1: Oops never mind - I HAVE YOUR ADDRESS! I'll mail it out first thing tomorrow! I looked at Deb's pictures and saw you with the trophy on the last night and I ordered it. It will look wonderful in my scrapbook with the medals!

Hey Jerry--while you are waiting for your sources to come up with that great deal, you can still start getting to know people on the thread;)
I figure once we get you hooked you'll HAVE to book it (trying that with Deanna as well). Anyone else wanna go Double Dippin'?

YES YES YES Disney if ANYONE from DCL is reading this, you see there is obviously interest in the Cruise to Nowhere idea. And this is JUST a handful of people, so obviously it would be warmly welcomed. I'm sure there are legal issues involved if they take any unsolicited "suggestions". At the same time, aren't we constantly hearing, "Disney listens to our guests! We want to know where you want to go. We picked the Mediterranean because so many of you said you wanted to go there". I doubt anyone is trying to sue them saying, "Hey, I told them they should go to the Med, that was MY idea! Where's my money?!"

The MAIN reason Rob and I chose the Transatlantic over any of the Mediterranean cruises was the amount of days at sea. The trip was more about the ship than the ports of call. Those were just a nice added bonus. We love the sea days and would book the Cruise To Nowhere so fast! :cool1:

Also glad to see some of the B2B'rs posting again. Cayla welcome back! We sure enjoyed the time in the pool with you! I still smile when I think of you telling me how you and your girlfriend met. :goodvibes

Those of you on the Return Journey--how awesome for you!! I wish we could be on that too. Finances and time off work are the only thing preventing it, but I'm glad some of you get to re-live the Magic again!:cool2:

Hi everyone - just a quick post to say that we are almost home. We are in a van about 30 minutes away from home. Long trip today, but everything went well. Air France flights were fine.

I would go on a "cruise to nowhere". The port days on the 11 day med cruise were just a little to much in my opinion.

Glad to be home.
Ken

Now I'm wishing I'd asked all the couples how they met. I feel like i missed something! How fun it would be to have a cruise to nowhere and hear everyone's romantic stories.

Welcome home Ken!

He he...still in Spain...not looking forward to coming back to the reality - I just keep thinking it is only 6 weeks until we all go to Disneyland :cloud9:

Welcome back,Cayla! It's nice to see the B2Bers finally slipping back in.It was hard enough to face reality after 14 days, I can't imagine it after nearly a month! How did the second half compare to the first?
I can't say it will be easy at all - having to remember to cook (:rotfl2: ) oh my...cleaning up dishes

Also glad to see some of the B2B'rs posting again. Cayla welcome back! We sure enjoyed the time in the pool with you! I still smile when I think of you telling me how you and your girlfriend met. :goodvibes
That was so much fun...Stacey told me there is a series of pictures somewhere on the boards showing the pool - has anyone seen it?

well - off to play tourist some more...have a good and magical day...

I know. I still can't believe we're doing the return journey. So glad I have a credit card! I'll be paying this one off all year!
