May 12, 2007 -- Taking the Magic to the Mediterranean -- 14 day Repo Cruise!

My dh and I loved the martini tasting but only one small problem...I didn't drink all of mine so he finished them as not to waste any alcohol. He was stumbling out of there when we got done. We also thought that Ducky was a delight to have onboard. On the 12/04 10 day he invited our ds Alex to join him for dinner one night at his personal table. Alex asked dh if he should go and we said GOGOGO! So he went and had dinner in AP with Ducky! He drew a lot of pictures for us and signed them all. Alex was beaming from ear to ear. I thought that was really nice because he just took a liking to our ds. Then when we got off the ship and were loading the car Ducky comes up to our car to tell us goodbye and tell us how great our ds is! But we already knew that ;) ;) I would love for him to be on this cruise. I only wish ds could go but that's way too much time off of school. :confused3 I loved the martini tasting but man they were trying to get us plastered or something!!

Hey - Debbie - could you maybe make your link to the list of who is going into a message that is a "sticky"? that stays at the most current post? Otherwise one has to go find it again....

I am not really sure that we can put a sticky on a thread. I thought that there was a link on the first post on the thread. Or you can put it in your favorites :) Click on the link in my signature.

I did notice padalyn that you are going to the pin event in Sept?! I hope to be there that weekend, visiting friends that will be attending. With my job I did not want to make a $$$ commitment to the event if I have to cancel. So maybe I can meet you then! On Sunday, September 10 I will be sitting in front of the Off Kilter stage and not budging :smooth: :woohoo:

Is anyone else having problems accessing the page? I did do an update today, but just did that an hour or so ago.

Just got flights done for this trip, 5/10, DEN to MCO on FF miles. BCN to MCO on Virgin Atlantic, with an overnight in London. Holiday Inn Express near Gatwick, rewards points, close to Train Station to get to Victoria Station. 5/27 to MCO and AKL for the night. then home on 5/28. Where ever home will be by then???? Should be fun :cool1: :cool1: :yay:

Well that is an interesting route :)

I made my arrangements today also. Great minds  :smooth: Well some of them. Still have to do the CLE to MCO. But I made Paris to CLE through Newark on 5/28. Did one R/T air and will throw away the other half. Could not beat $750. The other is on FF miles. But was a little short, so had to transfer miles, and those will be deposited in a day or so. Have that ressie held. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

So just have to figure out how to get from BCN to Paris. And buy the CLE-MCO but that is actually pretty low. Will look at SW or Continental.

It is getting closer!

Me thinks Bob may book this on the 11 day southern cruise.

Sounds good Debbie - I will look for you (which one is you??) - I think we will be getting to Epcot at around 8am - we usually are there the whole day for trading etc. As of now we are coming home on Sunday - I am trying to get hunny to go early and stay one extra day.

I don't see me on the list as of now...I assume that I am being added?

I am looking forward to the pin event - I am not sure I am going to be using all my RSP's so - if anyone has a burning desire for any of the pins - please email me - maybe we can work something out. I should warn people I got burned last year and now have pins for trade that I was not interested in. To that end - I will ask for the money up front.

Yeah Padalyn needs to get herself (and her DMIL) on the roster, too!

Just wanted to let you guys know that I had to cancel our reservation for this cruise. The huge project that my DH is heavily involved in at work has gotten way behind schedule (not his fault) and is getting pushed out too close to the cruise. The project was supposed to have been done by the end of 2006 so he originally thought May 2007 would be a very safe time for him to be away from the office.

I’m sad but not crushed. We’re talking about a London/Paris trip so maybe I’ll get to sneak in a little DLP visit. Also, after 15 years in I.T., I’m going back to school next month to become a Travel Agent. It will be a huge salary drop for me but my DH is very supportive of having me pursue my passions and interests. So I’m being supportive of his career as well especially since we will be relying so much on his salary now.

I was so looking forward to meeting all of you. I know you guys are going to have a blast on this trip and I can’t wait to read all the trip reports.

P.S. I hope no one else has to cancel, but just to let you know that if you do cancel, my T.A. says it can take up to 3 weeks to get your deposit back from Disney.

Martini class, glad DH missed that one! Recovering alcoholic's drink of choice... it probably wasn't during the "Friends of Bill W" timeslot since that's at the crack of dawn. ha-ha There were so many classes that I saw that we never got to go to due to conflicting plans.

Boy, Ducky gets around. What an interesting life he's led.

We got kitchen tour passes and then while busy doing something else (on the list of a million options each day) we missed it. I was so bummed I couldn't believe it. Especially since we bring blue tape and highliters and have an entire outline hung on our wall each night. BIG DORK

I'm very interested in learning more about the pin trading events. Is there a web site with info? How often are the events? Where? Do people buy & trade?
We have a Pirate Mickey pin coming out sunday at DL for passholders. I'm going at 8am to get it. I'm looking for Kronk and Stanley on Ebay. Also, looking for the surfboard series.

CACruisn, I PM'd you about Sea World.

Virgin... I haven't looked at them. Smart thinking.

Thanks for the shellfish talk. Now I need a few more languages.

The Med Thread

To compliment the specific sailing date threads there is now a group thread for all Mediterranean cruisers to pool their wisdom.

Just click on the Red link above. Happy sailing.

:rotfl: :Pinkbounc When I first joined the DIS boards I had no idea what any of those acronyms mean and when I asked DMIL got described as D (Disney, Dear, D@#*, etc.) Mother-In-Law

If anyone has crossed the Atlantic ocean this time of the year, I would appreciate if you could share your experience. I have cruised on the Magic this April and on the Baltic seas on Holland America, but I don’t know what to expect from a Transatlantic trip. How bumpy is the ride compared to a typical Caribbean cruise? What’s the worse I can expect in May?

I already have my cabin reserved on the Magic, but I have second thoughts about it after I saw a 30 minute movie on the travel channel about the Queen Mary explaining what a true ocean liner should be.

Well back from NY, had a great time meeting up with Georgie and Joe and doing Pirates in the Big Apple. Saw Georgie posted a picture of Jason and Crush. It was a fun party.

Just finished booking our airfare through Delta using FF miles. Cost me $32 per ticket. Had to pay taxes I guess. Oh well............

We are flying first class on Thursday May 10th leaving Salt Lake City 5:10 p.m. arriving into Orlando at 11:29 p.m. That will give us Friday to hang out in the parks and gear up for that pre-cruise get together.

Then we return on Monday, May 28 leaving Barcelona at 7:05 a.m. on Air France arriving in Paris at 9:00 a.m., then leave Paris at 10:15 a.m. headed to Washington DC arriving at 12:35 p.m., then switch back to Delta leaving at 3:45 p.m. arriving SLC at 6:30 p.m., first class tickets were 90,000 miles each

Decided to stay an extra day in Barcelona to do a little sightseeing since we have already been to DL Paris before.

Okay, I spent my wad today $64 total.

I'll bring in a picture from home and download it so you can see our "lanyard" get together in NYC!
