DW is a doctor? I didn't know that???!!!!
So she can write my girls a script for antibiotics and stuff? Our peditrician only would give us a few samples of antibiotics...

She is a pediatrician.

Most of the meds that she is packing in our first aid kit are samples without a prescription label. I hope that isn't an issue at the port.

Hi guys, I'm up and still cutting out laminated signs and repacking again!

We would like to do the beach on the Canary Islands but $119 per person for the beach??? It better be one amazing beach!

For someone to pay that much when you live in SoCal, :scared1: I will give you free therapy sessions on the boat. :rotfl2: Kidding, from what I understand you can walk to one of the beaches if you want to from the port... BUt you're right it better be a great beach. But if you change your mind I'll take you to Newport Beach when we get home and you can pay me the $119. I'll make it a great day. Hint: I'd do that for you for free anyway if you drive up here!

Connie: those fish extenders look great!!!!!!!!!!!!! You should start selling them on Ebay and post it on the disboards. Remind me to tell you my next sewing business on Ebay when we're on the boat.

Hadley: last night I was sitting in bed trimming my secret little gifts.

Connie, we are missing our garage sale on 5/20 - its making me crazy because it is a big one that happens twice a year with about 150 houses. I have so much stuff piled up to sell it's taking up too much space!

I can bring youa fishextender. no problem.
where are you staying? Do you want to come? Connie

Just don't give her mine ... Wink Wink ... Speaking of which, do you need me to stop by and pick it up or is on the boat ok by you?

DH would like do do the Stingray thing and all I can think of is the Crocodile Hunter. Is it safe to do that???

The Disney rays don't have barbs.

And, they're pretty used to people so they don't get startled.

And, they're pretty used to people so they know where to hide when they don't want to deal with said people.

And, you can do the "experience" without swimming over the rays.

And, they're animatronic. :rolleyes1

Those are AWESOME! I love the Mickey cruising one--with the Med emblem on it. So cute!

You are so talented! :goodvibes

We just reserved the Chocolate Museum.

Not sure why it was not there before :confused3 but it is there now. :cool1:

Does anyone have suggestions for any other Shore Excursions. This is our first Disney Cruise and we have not had any time to research any of these other places (I am too busy making magnets :rotfl2: ).

We would like to do the beach on the Canary Islands but $119 per person for the beach??? It better be one amazing beach!

Gibralter we would like to do "The Rock" but not sure if we should book through Disney or not. The one we wanted is full but we were looking at some of the others.

Anyway, any insight on any fo the stops, even Castaway Cay would be great.

DH would like do do the Stingray thing and all I can think of is the Crocodile Hunter. Is it safe to do that???

Brooklyn - we did the Stingrays last year and it was the BEST! So much fun and it IS Disney so they get rid of the "sting" no need to worry and you feed them and it is fantastic. I would recommend it. Believe me, I am a big chicken, but I would never turn down the rays!:) :)

Safe travels Erik! We'll see you next week.

Kelly, When are you taking off? I can't believe after all of these months and months of anticipation and preparation the trip is really upon us! Have a wonderful week. Tell Zoe Amy and Owen look forward to meeting her. She's going to be like one of our gang being right next door! I hope the only child enjoys having a big brother and sister aboard the ship!

Stephanie, I stand in awe of you. You are accomplishing in incredibly short order what took me the better part of 14 months!

We will be getting a puppy in July, on or about Amy's birthday. The mini goldendoodle litter is due on May 20th and the breeder promised to email a picture of our new little girl as soon as possible. Amy has decided to name her "Lilly". We're all very excited.

Hadley, Owen is really looking forward to meeting Rio. Having friends waiting onboard the ship is surely going to ease the pain of saying good bye to all of his friends in Virginia.

Ankle update...I'm no longer using the aircast on my right ankle while I'm in the house. It's feeling really good and there is very little swelling. The cast is supposed to come off of the left ankle next Wednesday. It's hard to tell how much swelling remains but this new cast is now loose too so it's a good sign.

One more week for us.

To all of those leaving this weekend...Bon Voyage!

Kathy

Makes Sense to me Ken, see you at the port!! I will be easy to recognize I will be the guy int he Taking the Magic to the Med shirt :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

For those leaving now, I do really hate you, only becuase you are starting before me ;) Have a safe trip and see you on board. Don't worry the rest of us will keep the thread going until at least Thursday, if I have time to read it with the way next week is looking that is.

See you at the port on Saturday!!

Cheers!!

Pat

I'm one of the lucky ones! We'll be thinking of everyone stuck in work.... not
No on a serious note hope everyone gets to the boat safely and see you all soon. We're flying in the morning so not sure if I'll manage to get on here again. To anyone whos going to the Wine and Cheese thing see you there if not safe travels and see you on the boat

I think the original fish extenders were found at a 99 cent store before the May 2005 Repo. People have since reported not finding them ever again. They do pop up on E-bay from time to time. The latest craze has been to make your own. Before the 11 Day Wonder last September, one wonderful cruiser made about 100 of them for people on the cruise list.

I like the idea of a paper bag with string. A good solution for the limited time available. :thumbsup2

Ken

I was one of the people who got one of the 100 fish extenders that were made. They were fab!

Sarah--Have a great trip. We'll see you at the wine and cheese party. Travel safe.:)

Kelly--Well you had a great reason for not being on the board Wednesday night. I thought I was missing some big movie premier or somethign the way everyone had disapeared:rotfl2:

Kathy--I'm so glad your ankle is feeling better. Keep healing so well. Please tell Owen Rio is anxious to meet him as well. RIo will be looking for OWen at the termianl for sure (unless you're going to wine and cheese--tehn he'll find him there).

Stephanie--I gotta agree with Kelly and you on the beach at Canaray Islands. $119 per person is insane. If you don't like the beach near the ship, you can always get a taxi to a better one (it has to be less expensive than that excursion). I can't really recomned any thing else for you. We are do it on our own types in port. I am glad you were able to book the chocolate factory tour you wanted.

Our printer is borken and squeezing researching/buying a new one into the schedule at this point is not gonna happen. So, we will spend a couple hours at Dave's office tomorrow getting things printed (2 magnets, Orlando hotel confirmation, Barcelona hotel confirmation, Florida rental cars confirmation, Boston rental cars, confirmations, directions to hotel and to port, etc. etc.--filling that binder now:rotfl: )

have a great day all.

What can we expect with temperature as we cross the atlantic?

I believe it will be warm in FL and Castaway Cay and then again warm in Spain. Correct? Not sure though what the winds and temperature will be at sea for six days???

Thanks for helping as I plan for appropriate clothing.

Beth

I'll add a note about the message boards. I looks like I will be at the port early also. I will have the boards and will be updating room changes as people inform me of upgrades. I would like to hang onto them until the 3:00 DIS meet to keep the updates going before I hand them out. Is that alright with everyone? If I miss you at the DIS meet, I'll just put them on your door>:cool1:

 I'm in 8560 and will not be changing my room if you should need a place for a board.. no problem.:cloud9:

Jason and I are doing the rays at Castaway this time, too. We have tried THREE times before to get Ray excursions in either Nassau or Castaway and every time we go there's some drama and it gets cancelled (stupid hurricanes and frigid/choppy/unsafe water!! :lmao: ). We booked the Extreme Getaway Package on Castaway so we can have a float for the beach, snorkel in the big snorkeling lagoon, ride bikes a little and then we're finishing our day with 3pm playtime with the rays. We're SUPER excited!!

Although......not QUITE as excited as we are about the fact that

WE GET ON THE PLANE FOR WDW IN JUST 8 HOURS!!!!!!
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

All our packing is done....we were able to get everything into just 3 checked bags total...all under 40lb. and then two small carry-ons/backpacks.

OK....now I have to go to work (Can you BELIEVE that?!?!:headache: ). I actually have to speak at a conference today from 11am to 2pm before heading to the airport.....this is going to feel like the longest workday EVER! :lmao:

:tigger:

So if we arrive early at the port (defined as a time yet to be determined but before it officially opens), do they let you park and walk over to wait in line at the terminal, or do we wait in the car, or do we split up (one in car, one at terminal)? We were going to leave our stuff at the hotel, get us all checked in and get our boarding #, and then drive back, retrieve my mom, and have my dh drop us and the luggage off and return the car. Just wondering how this works logistically. I *could* just roll with the punches, but that would be so unlike me! :rolleyes1

 C.

I thought that everybody was ignoring me but you don't have an answer yet either! I have asked 3 times - If we get to the port early can we be dropped off at the baggage dropoff (we are taking a limo) or do we have too wait outside? No answer, I will be watching to see if you finally get one! :confused3 :confused3

Look at the work as helping hte time pass before the final true vacationing begins:)

Have a GREAT time and don't forget to get a photo with everyone in their T-shirts (and I'm sure you can manage to get the wheel chair and its super duper cover in there as well, right?).

Looking forward to meeting you (and many others) in ONE WEEK (and only one week plus a day for anyone we can't cathc up with on Friday!:cool1:

If I knew the answer I would have answered both of you. Maybe no one knows? But at least we all know we'll be there bright and early!

::cop:
DON'T SPEED!

in case any of you missed it our nice basket lady Shirley started a thread about how they are cracking down on speeders on the highway to port canaveral (i.e. they need more doughnut and coffee $$$ :rotfl2: ) she said they are giving tickets for 0-5 miles per hour over too!!!!!!!! we plan on cruising at 1 mile below speed limit to avoid any problems...

also don't forget money for tolls!

While I cant speak for other police agencies, I can say that Florida Law will not allow for speeding tickets to be issued for less than 5 over the speed limit. You can be stopped and issued a warning or a ticket for another violation. BTW I dont eat donuts! LOL. One mile under the limit is just as dangerous as speeding. My advice is to go with the flow of traffic. The police usually watch for aggressive drivers that are excessively speeding and making unsafe lane changes. So few miles over the limit (most are at 65 or 70 anyways) wont hurt. Please remember that slower traffic should keep right.
PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY. WE ALL HAVE TO MUCH TO LOSE.
