Lynn and Scott,

I just noticed you are from Cheyenne. We used to live in Laramie. We really liked it there (only left becuase teh plant shut down and there was no where else in hte area for a manufacturing engineer to work). The only thing I don't miss is the wind!

Can kids come ot the wine and cheese party? They are used to being the only kids at a grown-up event (evidenced by my son's insistence on looking for legs in his sparkling apple cider, smellling the boquet, etc.) If they can come Hank and Jan will be there with us. However, we certainly understand if you don't want them underfoot. In that case it will be only David and I as my in-law owe us at least one favour for lining up ALL the travel arrangemnets, ressies, etc.!

I think Scott and Lynn already have a real room on this ship, while I on the other hand have booked us into a coat closet.... so, if Scott's in my way to get am upgrade I'm throwing him off the deck:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Linda, That is a great game! This will be our first trip driving to the port so I'm excited. Anyone have good directions to the port?

Maybe we should follow Scott and Lynn to the port!

If you are planning on following Scott and Lynn to the port, you will have to get up on Scott's time frame, about 5 a.m.!

Also, if they give you any hassle at the port (sometimes they do). Here's what I say:

Sorry, DH has to have the rental car back by 9 a.m. so he has no choice but to drop me and the luggage off because we are not going to pay another day's car rental.

Here's my advice. Just act like you know what you are doing. You pull into the drop off area and act like you are picking up someone who is getting off the ship. (since everyone is at the curb picking up). They you pull up as close to the porter's gate as possible, jump out of the car, and unload the luggage, and as the DCL CM's try to come tell you it's too early, you just give them the "return the rental car story" and they tell you to hurry up and not stay at the curb, then you tell DH to call on the cell phone when he knows he is on his way back.

That about covers it! popcorn::

If we're camping out at the gate the night before can we use the story of the car return at 9pm? We need to be first!

Wow, so much to reply to. Linda, that's a good scam, the old "husband has to return the car" bit!

As for our experience on DCL transportation from the airport: Both of my prior cruises (both in '06) the first bus actually did leave the airport about 9:45-10 am, as people had thought in previous posts. They didn't actually give us a number, maybe because we arrived on a red eye and checked in about 8 am. They just told us to wait by a certain line, and we'd be on the first bus out. Upon pulling into the terminal about 10:45-11, it was not too crowded. Although the first time, we were giving boarding group number 3, and the second time it was boarding group number 8. We didn't have any trouble booking a second Palo reservation once onboard.

For Hadley--I feel ya'! I found this board two weeks ago, and decided to start from Page 1. By page 31, I couldn't believe how much more I had to go, so I went from about page 143 forward. I still want to go back and read them all though. As for Keyon being onboard again--in September he told us he WOULD be on the Transatlantic in May, so hopefully he will be! But of course, their schedules vary, so we'll see. Anyway, another day closer! (I have SO much to do, yikes)

MIlestogo - you will have to push me out of the way to try and get that upgrade. We are in a closet also......but I guess if we camp out on the 11th then we can be first to request that upgrade!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm praying that other people outside this thread are very naive and don't have this same idea!!! Thanks, Linda:idea:

Maybe we will all be lucky and get an upgrade before we leave home. Last year we got upgraded to a cat 6. Keeping my fingers crossed for this time too.

Oh my....I've definitely built up this tie thing, haven't I? :cool1:

Poor Jason...he doesn't even want to WEAR the ties!! I'm forcing him to! :rotfl2: (He doesn't even have to wear nice clothes to work so he's VERY not used to dressing up....not that I wear ties, but I at least usually wear collared shirts.)

I shoudl just preface that not ALL the ties are coordinated....a number of them are, but it was hard to find two different ties with the same film or character theme----like we have 2 different Dalmations ties and 2 different Aladdin ties and 2 different Lion King ties, etc.---so on the other nights we'll just both be in Disney ties. We didn't want to wear the SAME tie (except for the custom Tink ties that I made myself) so we didn't get any duplicates.

We probably won't wear ties EVERY night, either...I don't think we have 28 (yet)!

:tigger:

"... playing "I SPY THE DCL CRUISE BUSES" coming back to Orlando from the ship. You get 1 point for every DCL bus you spy first and -2 points if you yell DCL Bus and it is not. Makes the time go fast. Then you get 5 bonus points for spotting the Disney Magic first before getting to the terminal. I'm an expert on this-if you watch in between the two trees as you are on the bridge you can spot the Smoke Stacks as you reach the top.

And we thought we were the only ones who did the DCL bus count on the way to the terminal, should have known better. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Nothing like that first spotting of the ship from the bridge. Then you really know it time to cruise. :cool1: :cool1:

On the terminal opening time, we've driven to the terminal many times and when we've arrived prior to 10 AM they made the cars wait in the parking lot across the street until the gates opened at 10AM. With the new drop-off area there are some folks waiting (probably doing the husband has to drop the car off routine :rotfl: :rotfl: ).

This time we're doing the DCL transfer from the airport hotel, with all our reservations made we won't be rushing to get to the airport this time. If DCL gets us there around 11 we'll be happy.

Debbie....you'll like this one.
Was at brunch sunday with Lee's family. Sitting next to us was her niece and her husband. The subject got around to the subject of him playing a bagpipe. I asked if they had ever heard of OffKilter.
Wow! It was just like turning on the floodlights. Yes! They actually had a couple of the group's cds before they made the trip to Disney just to see them.
Guess OffKilter are just like rock stars.

Okay Erik. I will NOT expect coordinated ties every day (I didn't really anyway--but I sure don't want to miss any). I can't wait to see the Tink ties you designed.

Chris--many thanks for apssing on your info. on Keyon. The kids and I had to do a happy dance when we read the post. He is the BEST.

Littleowensmommy
my son is also 8. Maybe they will get along? I haven't noticed any other 8 year old boys on the posts yet! We would love to be included in the tea on the repo if possible.

NHdisneylover Hadley and David DD10 Marika and DS8 Rio

Finally a friend for Owen! Owen will be 8 on March 11th. He's in 2nd grade. Most of us with kids have early seating. Can you switch?

Check the top of page 143 and rsvp to Kelly regarding the tea.

Look forward to meeting you!

Kathy

Chris, Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one scrambling to keep up! It's like an addiction--I just can't stop. Which cruise were you on in September. We were on the double dip. Were you with us?

Hi Kathy,
Rio was 8 on December 22--so they are very close in age! Rio already knows that other boy his age is Owen--he is very excited (was talking about bringin a welcome gift! No idea what he has in mind--knowing Rio likely a picture he drew and candy).
We really like late seating much better. The kids are more alert for the shows (though they are pretty night owlish) and we have time to actually work up at leasat a bit of an appetite. I do realize that this is off from most other families, but there is plenty of time to socailize all the rest of the day. :)

Thanks MilesToGo for complimenting the photo. :goodvibes Also, have been meaning to thank you for your initial post to me on the other thread, but have been so busy trying to catch up with this one I forgot to, so Thank You!

Hadley, we were on an Eastern Caribbean the first week of Sep, so it wasn't a double dip. Anyway, gotta run for the night. Take care everyone!

:rockband: Well they are! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:  Gotta love 'em :) They are the reason we are arriving on Thursday, so we can see them play before we go :) Got to get our fix. And they are off on Friday.

So you all will know where to find me on Thursday before the cruise, sitting in front of the Off Kilter stage

Debbie

Hadley,

Owen is very excited to meet Rio. He says that he just knows they're going to be great friends. He wants to know what type of books Rio likes to read. Owen also likes to play chess and other board games. His prized possession is his Nintendo DS which Santa broke down and got him for Christmas. Owen is standing over my shoulder as I type...he's dictating. He also plans to bring Rio a gift of friendship. If Rio doesn't like books, he's got a Plan B. Does he like board games? Owen also likes to swim. That's all for now...I'm sending him back to bed.

Kathy

Kathy,

Okay a hyper, over tired, should be in bed Rio is now standing (more like dancing) behind me and reading over my shoulder! He says to tell Owen he likes Shel Silverstein, joke books, the Weird Planet books and detective stories. What kind of books does Owen like? He says to tell him he also likes swimming and board games especially The Magic Kingdom Game and Disney Sorry (go figure!) and WhoNu and Caranium Family Fun. Just about any board game I guess.

Allright--now i am insisting my little Guy gets off to bed now as well.

We did a gty 12 in early January. So I'm another closet dweller hoping to upgrade at the port! I will be happy no matter what, but that does not mean that I am not going to try to upgrade!! We may very well be all in good shape given the overall occupancy situation. Or at least I hope so! In any event, we will be on a fabulous cruise. pixiedust: to us all!

 Cupcake

OK OK , We are not wanting an upgrade so we will run interferrance for you all.

Yes Kids are welcome at the Wine and Cheese Meet. No Probs.

Yes I do tend to get up pretty early it's the "I'm too excited to sleep" thing.

On the road with work and Lynn will try to keep up for us.
