Snow falling hard and heavy here. Looks like a good weekend to stay in and prepare for the trip!!!

We have been looking forward to star gazing as well. That is absolutely one of our favourite hobbies. We are lucky to live in a rural area without much light. SO we do a lot of sky wathching from the hot tub in the evenings. The windy ship soudns quite a bit cooler, but the views should be worht it! Does anyone know about what latitude we'll be crossing at? The kids may ask at the Planetarium (we go a couple of times a month) if they can set is for about mid trip for us and point out the best constallations to see from there, at that time.

Just back from PV this evening......looks like a lot of pages to catch up on, so if something real important happened please let me know. It may take me awhile to catch up.

WELCOME to all newcomers!!!

WELCOME to all newcomers!!!

Welcome back Glydell. Where did you stay in PV? My parents live down there so I am always interested in where people go and what they do when they are down there.

We have 4 weeks(timeshare) at the Mayan Resorts. We stayed at the one in Nuevo. We go back for 2 weeks this July. Where do your parents live? Do you get down there often? We love it!!!

The Mayans are pretty--I bet you had a great time.

My dad lives in Nuevo on Calle Tulipanes (right next to the govenor's mansion--talk about feeling safe there is always a ton of security!) and my mom lives in Bucerias (a bit north of Nuevo). We try to get down every year. It is tough because they are both realtors so of course they are working their longest hours during the time of year when we would most like to visit:confused3 So we try to get down after fall has finished up here but before high season has really kicked in down there. The kids and I spent the last week in October and the first in November with them. We also like to take Mexican Riviera cruises and get the PV day with them:goodvibes

We are doing the PC westbound next year and since there are Mayans in all our Mexico stops, we have done all the tours. We will be spending our days at the Mayan pools!

Yes, I am VERY nervous about crossing the Atlantic. When I told DH about switching to this cruise, the first thing he said was " I thought you were too scared to sail across the Atlantic" I told him for this price, I'll be ok...:rotfl:

Also, if you don't want to look like a tourist, just wear black. All day, all the time. Black boots, black leather jacket, sunglasses and a cellphone plastered to your ear...

OK....so I'm actually not in the least bit afraid to sail across the Atlantic....HOWEVER...after reading all the recent posts I am afraid to get dressed and leave the ship in all the ports! :rotfl: Good heavens all the stress and drama about not looking like a tourist :rotfl2: ....I'm stressing about packing ENOUGH without all this added on top of it!!!:lmao: :lmao: I, for one, am going to proudly embrace my touristiness (is that a word?...it is now!)....I actually AM a tourist...and I'm going to live out and proud about it!! :thumbsup2 :cool1: :thumbsup2

For the record, Jason and I stick out in NYC our South Beach, too, because we don't dress to those standards either....I don't have money for nice clothes....I spend it all on expensive vacations!!!:cloud9:

(Besides I'm going on all DCL excursions anyway....if my jeans or polo shirt or whatever else I happen to be wearing don't give me away....teh sticker of Mickey or the Beast or Stitch they give me to wear so I don't get lost from the group WILL! hehehe:banana: )

Yes Debbie, it was windy. And it was cold. :cold:
But I did get to "see the Southern Cross for the first time".:thumbsup2
Was KEWL. Thanks Scott! Who else was there?

We were there!! :thumbsup2 What a sight to see the Southern Cross for real.

And we'll be there this time too. :cool1: :cool1: After spending many nights on the water during my Coast Guard Reserve days there is nothing like seeing the stars go right down to the water line.:cool1:

Bob

Ugh the weather is getting ugly and cold and snowy and gross here! Makes me want to be in the rainforest room of the spa onboard!! :goodvibes

Which reminds me Jason and I were wondering.....does anyone have a guess (ballpark) of what a cruise-length rainforest pass will cost on this trip? We've only ever done the 3 and 4 day cruises so it's real cheap aboard those.

The Planetarium is a Kewl idea. Our Lat and Long at mid point should be about N 33 58.217 and W 042 02.268, give or take a little. (Debbie quit laughing) That is what I haev in my GPS for an aprox mid way point.

Here is a pretty good like to print out a sky chart http://www.fourmilab.ch/yoursky/#Skymap

I your planetarium prints out a chart that would be Kewl. If so could I get a copy?

All you folks in NE, sorry about your turn in the weather, stay safe and warm.

Wonder why WY has the cheapest gas???? I won't complain, about $2.27.

WOW that is early prep fro the vacation, going west to east is easy for me , it is the east to west that messes me up.

I may drive to WY to get gas! Yes, we end up getting up at 10 or 11 am WDW time and miss the whole thing! Coming back is easier for us because we're home and don't have any commitments (except taking our houseguests to DL)

We're not too worried about the crossing and I hope nobody is watching Poseidon on HBO this month!!!:scared1:

The new version of Poseidon, freaked me out so bad. I had to stop watching because I just couldn't handle it anymore....gets too depressing. :scared1:

What are you going to do the other day? Swim? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: When I read this I laughed so hard....
Sorry I am a little behind on the recent posts, but I did go back and read them all. All caught up now.

For the 7 day I think it is about $75, I don't remember. It wouldn't surprise me if they just kept it that price to encourage more people to buy it, but perhaps people from the last repo would have more accurate info.

As for Poseidon on HBO this month, I know we just happened to catch it last week, and a couple other folks on here too! We focused less on the disaster and more on the "Well on the Magic would we know where to go at this point!!"

No, not at all nervous to cross the Atlantic. Just very VERY excited that it's coming closer every day. The other night I had a dream that it was May 11 and I realized I had missed the entire two months lead up and hadn't gotten ANYthing done!

HAPPY ST PAT'S DAY

Everyone have a great day.

I agree - the sailing isn't my fear - more the possibility of robbery or other problems :scared1:

Stress and more stress!!

good point...

I moved down here to Williamsburg in June. I'm really enjoying the weather here a lot better than where I previously lived (upstate NY).

Karen, My kids are enrolled in a program at William & Mary so I'm in Williamsburg every Saturday morning. I'm actually not driving today as we're carpooling with a friend. Next Saturday (24 March) is their last day. I usually go to Aromas for coffee after dropping them off. Send me a pm if you'd like to meet. I'll probably take the kids to Busch Gardens that afternoon if the weather cooperates.

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in. It's been a while. Forgive me. It's crunch time for us! We have to be fully packed for this trip by 6 April! We'll be in California househunting in April and as soon as we get back our movers arrive to pack up the house so we must have everything packed and ready to go ahead of time. We close on the sale of our VA house in late April. We'll stay with friends for 2 weeks before leaving for Florida on 11 May. We will actually be homeless during this trip as we won't close on a place in CA until after we arrive in San Diego on 6 June. We will never be more ready for a vacation!

Kathy

HAPPY ST PAT'S DAY

Everyone have a great day.

Will do. Going to a home show today, looking at building a pole barn.

No fear here, on the crossing.

Hope the weather clears in the NE for you all.

I would love to be close to Williamsburg, it is an interesting place.

Kathy not a bad place to be homeless. Moving is a pain.

Happy St. Patty's day!!!

For all you locals who love Off Kilter, they are gonna be in my neighborhood (literally) tonight. from 5-9pm. Come join us!!!

Just think in 8 Weeks at roughly this time, well at the time of the post that is, we will all be heading to the port to board the boat....WOOT!!

Happy St Patty's Day!!

Be proud of the Green

Cheers!!
