For those of you that are interested in the Magic Fountain trip - please PM sweetsue with your names or visit the May 26, 2007 "First Magical Med Cruise" thread and post your name over there. Sweetsue is on the May 26 cruise, not this one.

Ken

We would love to go, but I am worried that we will miss all the final night stuff on the ship. Our show in the Walt Disney Theater would be at 8:30 and I don't want to miss that, so unless I can talk them into changing it to a later time.......................

Does the fountain thing happen every night? Since we don't fly out til Monday, maybe a group of us could go Saturday night after we have been kicked off the Magic.

I know that this was discussed a little bit ago, but we are staying at the AC Barcelona. It is pretty close to port, and really close to a metro station. We decided on this one because passporter seemed to really like it. We were debating on the renaissance out by the airport, but did not want to take suitcases all the way out there, and then have to come all the way back. I guess there are pros and cons to each, but we had to decide on something. LOL

We also were wanting to do the magic fountains. I will go over to the other Med thread and let Sue know. Thanks for the info!

We are at the Renaiisance at the airport. Now to find that confirmation number................

Hello from Toronto! Gorgeous weather here. We're dusting off the bicycles and scooters. I loved that Mickey puppy photo, wow. We have a little (actually he's huge) guide dog puppy that will be leaving us right before the cruise (a good distraction as it will be sad). The most common question I get is how can you give him up. I view it as training for the day when I have to send my kids off to the real world. (waaa!!) hee hee. Also, always had a dog for its entire life and when the last one died, well, as the dog-loving DIS-boarders know, it was just a little too hard to get over. So, this is win-win for everyone. But now that we think we could love another dog again, my son wants TWO huskies.... oh boy, oh boy.

On another topic -- I was offered a stateroom on deck 6but it was category 11. (we're GTY) We opted for a category 10 on deck two. We're a family of four and we're all very tall so I thought the extra space would be best. Who knows...

Upgrades at the port? Is it a set price per room or do you have to haggle or what? Why do some folks get free upgrades (at the port) and not others? I've been checking travelocity and there now doesn't seem to be many staterooms available. Does anyone out there with insider info know how many people are on the ship? What do experienced DISboarders think they will charge to go from GTY to a porthole room at the port? As others have said, I'm happy just to be going!

I'm all over the map here, so better sign off. That's what happens when you book a trip like this last minute! I did go back and so some retro-lurking on this discussion board (I'm also the one who prefers the term "research" ... hee hee). I finished all 6,000 + posts. Exhausting, but great info.

HAGW ... what's left of it!

Can someone post the Panama Canal banner that was made for the crossing? I am assuming we are going to make one similar to that?
I know it was posted a LONG time ago, but I don't want to waste hours looking for it.

Kissimmee;
I think I'm gonna buy that roll of paper I found at Joanns (I"ll get 2)
Just in case we can't find anything else. I can always return it.

Whose bringing paint and brushes?

This is a Bassett puppy in PA that my friend just emailed me photo's of......what a perfect hidden Mickey!

ooooh! That is a very good point. I forgot about that....maybe we'll have to skip the fountains, too. Well...regardless...we can play it by ear. Enough of us onboard are interested in participating maybe that if we look at teh plans for the evening and it looks like we can do it...we'll be able to figure it out!

Near Paramus, my girlfriend lives near Montclair. I guess that does bring back some memories. We were shocked at the violence of the water flow. When she and her mom (BFL) tried to go on Tuesday, they had to detour all over the place since McBride was completely closed, as was Browerton Rd. They are open now, and the water is about half of what it was. The Saddle River was up into the park (as usual) and the bridge at 4 was swamped as well.

I am not sure how long ago you left this area - they redid the bridge at SRR and 4 about 10 yrs ago - it is about 10 feet above the water line.

:teacher: Went to saddle brook high 3rd class to graduate. My son was born in saddle brook hospital.. funny at that time it was 1 story. I lived off fairlawn parkway and my dh lived on platt ave. off of market street. My brother lives in my parents house, so we get to visit occasionally. ya I do remember saddle river road and the park and the river. Oh to get a crumb cake from hackensack bakery...well we are no in florida and get oranges instead... bummer:pirate: thanks for the trip back in time.

Lots to catch up on--and I want to get back out into that SUN quickly, so here goes:

Fountains: We might join a group on Saturday night. I am not missing my final night on board either;)

Upgrades (KaptainJack?). Upgrades at the port (if available) are not free to anyone. They are cheaper than if you paid for a certain category now is all. I am surprised you were actually given a choice between levels of staterooms when they asigned you. I have never heard of that. Has anyone else had that happen?

Puppy--Too cute!

Movies--We don't get much other than the most run of the mill stuff up here. We did watch Freedom Writers which we got from Netflix yesterday. LOVED IT! I do admit to being a sucker for true stories about amazing teachers, but even given that, the acting, etc in this flick was great. Also, funny that I had had no idea Patrick Dempsey was in it. So, in the afternoon we watched Can't Buy Me Love (staring Dempsey in the 80s) and then at night Dave and I watched him getting oldish in a recent movie. Too funny.

Headed back outside now. Hope everyone is enjoying spring while you can.

good morning all. I forgot to tell you that on Friday we had a ton of rain and we had snow on the mountains all around us. When I left my lecture it was 48 degrees. So, I'm sorry to say that we are sending some nasty weather your way. Supposed to get a little rain today too. Ken's probably getting it right now.

Hiya,

Hadley (?) ...Deck 6 vs Deck 2. Wasn't technically a choice/regular situation. Just the way the cards landed due to a combo of circumstances. Bottom line, was just wondering what's better... Cat 10 on any level or Cat 11 on upper level? I'm still amazed that a GTY got a secret porthole room. Score!

Thx for the info about port upgrades, too.

Isn't it nice that so many of us are enjoying warm weather today? Speaking of which, time to go outside and play!

hmm- are you talking about B&W bakery??? I might be persuaded to bring down a crumb cake - or ship it would be better since taking food on a plane is a no no these days...they are the best...heavy as lead!

I had my TA add on the transfer to the airport in Barcelona yesterday. It was only $25 so I thought it was worth it just to not have to worry about how I'm going to get there.

At the same time he asked DCL about my documents. He had already set it up to have them mailed directly to me rather than go through him, but he double checked anyway. He said they were "printed" Friday so I should expect them early this week. He also said that IF they are sending magnets, those would be sent directly to me also.

HAGW ... what's left of it!

It is a set price. They have a chart and it tells them exactly what to charge you for going from one category to another based on the number of people in your stateroom.

On the 3 night I just took Jamie on for her 13th birthday for Easter, we upgraded from a category 11 to a category 5 at the terminal. It was $600 total for the 3 of us. However, we had just gotten $133 back per person the because I cruised with a friend who is a Florida resident so since I am always looking on the bright side of things, I considered it an upgrade of $67 per person! So I was charged $400 for the two of us for the upgrade and Kay was charged $200, but on my same credit card statement I had a $266 credit from DCL. That was my logic for the whole thing!

:rotfl:

Anyway, if I would have thought about it, I would have looked over the CM's shoulder to see if they had the 14 day on the list, because I noticed he had to keep looking to make sure he was on the 3 night and not the 4 night. It was a one page thing with boxes showing each category and the charge between each to move up.

Anyway, that's what I know. I will check at the port just because I am curious, but I bet the upgrades will be pricey for the 14 night.

My parents and I made our initial reservations together but were given rooms with one between us. When we rebooked to category 12, through no act of our own, we were assigned category 10 connecting rooms, so you would think that means we are in fact linked. However we went from both having early seating to one having early and one late.

On the Sept crusie me and parents had joint reservations and for some reason I was allocated a table on my own for dinner (well at least no one ever went to the table as we did change my table but kept an eye on the original one as well) and my parents were put on a table with a complete stranger so God knows what Disney thinks of some times!

Okay, here you go! Like I said, I made it big so it could be easily read. 4" foam brushes and blue acrilyic paint is what I used.

Have any of you ever taken a flight with "easy jet"? :confused3 I was on their website and found it really confusing. We are flying to London Stansted after the cruise and just dont want to have to pay any fees for luggage...

Important details dont you know...Just tell me HOW much I can pack!:rotfl: :rotfl:

OK don't quote me on this but I think you have an allowance of 23kg 1 bag and then you pay per kilo for any additional.

Just saw the weirdest movie tonight. It was called "Hot Fuzz". (not what you think...;) )

It is a British comedy.
We went to the movies and couldn't figure out what to see, so we just picked the next movie that was showing.

It was a police movie farce. British humor... I was hoping it would be as funny as the Full Monty, but it was really weird. Funny but weird...

OK can I just say that this is one of the best movies ever! It's done by the team who did Shaun of the Dead and I love it! Such a British movie though which is why you probably found it weird too! Very British sense of humour and if you had seen Shaun you would have known what to expect
