May 10, 2011 (5/10/2011) Cruisin' to Alaska on the Wonder - Who's with me!

Ok. Finally got some time to post here :-)

My room-mates and I have the following booked

Embarcation Night: Palo
Skagway: Chillkoot Horseback Adventure
Juneau: Whale Encounter & Mendenhall Glacier
Ketchican: Classic Misty Fjords Flightseeing

I are now all set except for the packing. Flights and hotel booked as well, as we are staying in Vancouver a few days before hand.

May I ask what times your excursions are scheduled please? I'm cruising later in the summer and cannot see the excursion times yet. Also, if you wouldn't mind looking, what time is the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest excursion offered in Juneau please? We're trying to figure out the difference between these two.

Thanks for any help you may offer!
PJ

thanks!! I love high tea so keeping my fingers crossed. Is the Palo brunch worth it? How much do they want for that?
thanks

We have had both dinner and brunch at Palo and we much prefer brunch. Brunch is kinda buffet style with an ordered entree but the buffet selections on Bahamian cruises include shrimp, crab legs, salmon, scallops, a YUMMY table of desserts, danishes and breakfast breads, exoctic cheeses, and.... There are both breakfast and lunch offerings as the entree. At dinner, the food was good but we didn't get to try as many things since it was a traditional soup, salad, entree, dessert.

I'll be cruising later in the summer and wondering if you could share what options/days Palo has to offer on the Alaskan cruises please? I read about brunch, but is there also a tea? If so, on what days are brunch and tea available?

Thanks for the help!

PJ

There is High Tea. It was available for me to book at 12:01am at my 90 day booking window. I didn't book it (wasn't interested), but noticed it was gone by the time I completed my brunch Palo reservation.

Brunch booking options have been available (for me) on sea days, including the Tracy Arm day. Days 2, 3 & 7. I can't confirm for sure because I didn't inquire on tea, but I imagine reservations would fall on the same days. Hope that helps.

I'll check on the shore excursions you asked about and post back.

The Exclusive Whale Encounter & Mendenhall Glacier is offered at the following two times in Juneau:
7:45am-12:15pm
9:50am-2:20pm

Give me a few minutes - I'm going to see if I can go through each and every excursion and make a list of times available. Hopefully it's not too cumbersome. The DCL site can be very slow!

Breaking out of lurker mode...booked this last October...

5/10 sailing...2 adults, 2 kids (8 and 6) - deck 7 (yay!) inside (boo!) - early seating. Celebrating my b-day on 5/15

Doing a whale cruise, the Disney lumberjack show, and the Liarsville show. Flying into Seattle and driving up.

We booked the Yukon excursion in Skagway, and it is 8:15-4:15.

Alaska excursions are expensive, but you can also book most of the options in port. For example, when we were there in September, we went to the glacier in Juneau for under $20 for 4. We took a shuttle, spent an hour or so there, then came back to town. We also could have booked a whale watching excursion--same as the ship's excursion--for about half the price.

Ketchikan is a great town to tool around in--lots to see on foot or via trolley.

Now, if I can just get a Palo brunch reservation, I will be thrilled!!!

Hi Everyone,

We just booked our cruise today and we are very excited. This will be our second Disney Cruise. My husband, DS(9), DD(4) and myself look forward to meeting you all!

Just booked this cruise on the spur of the moment with the "kids sail free" deal. Myself, my wife and our 2 kids (age 6 and 8). We've been talking about going on a Disney cruise for years and finally decided to take the plunge! Wife is super excited... We don't plan to tell the kids till we're at the terminal! Coming from Vancouver Island, so very convenient for us. Its our first cruise, and our first family vacation since Disneyland in 2007. Hope to meet you all on board!

Welcome! This is only our 2nd cruise, but we enjoyed our first one so much that we booked again while on the first cruise.:cutie:

My husband, my son (2), daughter(13) and I are booked on this cruise. We're in a outside cabin and we have first seating for dinner. Anyone else with a teen going?

We are flying into Seattle also, how are you driving up to Vancouver? Are you using a rental agency? There are 2 of us and getting into Seattle night of May 7th

We're flying into Seattle too. Flying into Vancouver was $3K more! :scared1:

We'll spend some time in Seattle and then take the QuickShuttle to Vancouver on the 9th and take it back to SeaTac when the cruise is over on the 17th. The QuickShuttle was the easiest option for our family.

We considered renting a car, but a one way rental was far too expensive and a weekly rental combined with a week of parking was also more than we wanted to spend. We also considered Amtrak, but its schedule would only work if we spent another night in Vancouver - not an option for us.

Good luck with your decision!

There is Allegiance Air out of Bellingham WA. I have never flown with them but my friends in Vancouver BC do all the time. They have some great deals.

We fly Allegiant in the SE but unfortunately, their routes are limited and we would have to buy 3 separate round-trip tickets on them to get from here to Bellingham. :(

My husband and I just booked this cruise! We're so excited to be back on the Wonder and really excited to visit Alaska for the 1st time:goodvibes

If you join entertainment.com I think it is $30 for a year you can print out coupons for quick shuttle up to a week before your trip. Write your confermation number on the coupon and give it to the driver and they will give you 50% off two peoples trips (they refund your CC), hey thats more than enough for a meal at Palos.
