May 10, 2011 (5/10/2011) Cruisin' to Alaska on the Wonder - Who's with me!

HI all. I booked this cruise a few days ago and I'm so excited!!!:banana::banana::banana:

Did you reserve dinner?.. I looked at trying to do a brunch but it was not available.... :sad2:

I suggest checking the DCL site regularly. Palo brunch wasn't available the first day I logged on but two days later there it was and I booked it. I still haven't see high tea yet. Good luck. :thumbsup2

I am lucky enought to be going to a conference the beginning of May. An Alaska Cruise is on my bucket list. Just booked my very first cruise. It's perfect timing as my conference ends of the 5th so it will give us some time to take in Vancouver. We have an Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. Since this is our first we can't book anything until Feb. 24th. I hope they are not full.

Any help is appreciated. This is such a reverse. Usually friends come to me when they are planning their first WDW trips since I go there so often.

We are in the same boat. This is our first cruise as well so we have to wait until the 24th to book anything. Although I feel more confident that we can get a few things reserved that I was for the WC Repo cruise we were originally planning to take. :)

Just made an excursion reservation and nursery hours (although I am hoping my potty trained, almost 3 year old will be allowed in the club!!).

Can't wait!!!

Does this cruise have a FE exchange?

:yay: Yippee! Glad to have found this thread. My Sis & I and my 2 neices 11 & 13. First seating. My fourth cruise, my 1st Disney cruise:lovestruc and my sisters first ever cruise.
My first cruise was on HAL to Alaska. I loved, loved, loved it. Alaska is so gorgeous!!! You are right sitting on the deck with a hot coffee watching the world go by!!! Prepare to be amazed !!!
I have read something about a high tea?!?! Can we book before the cruise??

See you there :cool1:

Ok dumb question! If we have a pirate night do we bring our stuff from home?? Do they have things available on the ship?

Thanks :goodvibes

Hi,

You can book Palo high tea, as long as it is offered, and that there's still seats available. If u are a 1st time DCL cruiser, u can book 75 days before the trip, i.e. at the same time when u are allow to book the excursions. You can also check availability again when you are onboard.

I didn't see high tea when I booked, but I managed to book brunch.

thanks!! I love high tea so keeping my fingers crossed. Is the Palo brunch worth it? How much do they want for that?
thanks

Hello May 10 cruisers - We're cruising later in the summer, but I was hoping you could share your excursion times, so that we can advance plan our days a little bit better...

Can you tell me for what time your excursions are scheduled??

Our Takshunuk Trail 4x4 is 7:15 AM to 1:45 PM
Whale Encounter and Mendenhall Glacier Tour is 7:45 AM to 12:15 PM
Rainforest Wildlife Sanctuary is 12:15 PM to 3:15 PM

Hope that helps.

I heard that there will not be pirate night on the Alaska cruises, not sure if it's true just something I heard.

Jumping on board and introducing ourselves. I'm more of a lurker than a poster. Our cruising party includes myself, my DH, my DD11 and my DD7.

We booked the 5/10 cruise about a month ago. We're seasoned cruisers on other lines, but this will be our 2nd DCL cruise. Our 1st one was a not-so-Eastern/Tortola itinerary that ended up as a Western with a double dip to CC, thanks to a hurricane. Hopefully we won't have that problem with this cruise!

Is anyone else getting the feeling that this boat might be half empty? When we booked (about 100 days out), we were still able to get main seating for dining, and when I booked our excursions and Palo, everything was available that I wanted (a first) and I had my pick of the litter for Palo brunch/dinner/tea, although tea went fast. It looks like there are still plenty of cabins available. The staff to kid ratio in the kids club might be 1:1 at this rate, LOL!

Happy planning everyone!

I heard that there will not be pirate night on the Alaska cruises, not sure if it's true just something I heard.

Someone on the 5/3 inaugural Alaska cruise posted that DCL confirmed there is a pirate night (subject to change of course ;)). I guess we won't know for sure until we get on the boat!

I called DCL today to ask about themed nights for this cruise:

Day 2 - formal night

Day 5 - pirate night

Day 6 - semi formal

Well it looks like I never even got a chance at the tea :confused3

Oh well I can handle it (sniff!)

Glad to hear there will be a pirate night!

I thought the excursions were a little pricy!:scared1: Europe was so much cheaper than these! (on RCCL).

Good thing the ports are all easy to walk around in!!!

I didn't book a tea, just a brunch, but it was available at the 90 day booking window for a brief moment (at midnight).

The excursions are very expensive. :headache: We booked dog sledding in Skagway and whale watching in Juneau and I choked at the cost! I think we're going to sit back and relax in Ketchikan. Walk around town a little, shop, and enjoy the near empty boat. None of the Ketchikan excursions interest us.

Ok. Finally got some time to post here :-)

My room-mates and I have the following booked

Embarcation Night: Palo
Skagway: Chillkoot Horseback Adventure
Juneau: Whale Encounter & Mendenhall Glacier
Ketchican: Classic Misty Fjords Flightseeing

I are now all set except for the packing. Flights and hotel booked as well, as we are staying in Vancouver a few days before hand.

I'll be cruising later in the summer and wondering if you could share what options/days Palo has to offer on the Alaskan cruises please? I read about brunch, but is there also a tea? If so, on what days are brunch and tea available?

Thanks for the help!

PJ
