Holly....I love the name Blake! He sounds like a wonderful beau....I hope he calls you.

We got our tree....I think it's very Charlie Brownish because it's only 4 feet tall....but it's got a good shape and it's bushy. We had to get a tree to go on a table because Angel (the dog for all the new friends) and Ella (the cat) will knock it down as Angel chases Ella all over the house.

Then we went to Hallmark and got our traditional new Mickey ornament for the tree. We get a one every year. This year we got Micky and Minnie shopping....it's really cute.....Minnie is on the cell phone while Mickey is carrying all the presents.

We'll put the tree up and decorate tomorrow. It's getting late tonight and we have to do dinner. We'll be snowed in anyway. It's supposed to get here about 3am.

We were married 12/2/00 - and we spent literally every penny we had on our honeymoon....we came home and got the saddest looking tree, then John brought home a grinch balloon we used as the star.....all I wanted for xmas was an "our first" ornament...well, Johnny found an awesome shell ornament and wrote on it...since I guess Hallmark was closed!

V...did the girls ever finish cleaning their room?

Samantha heard some jingle bells and went on a tare! She cleaned her bathroom even hanging up the towels!!!!!!!:scared1:

I went to high school with twin boys, Brant and Blake, very good looking but Blake was the sweetest ---- I think they are still in Lakeland....I didn't go to my 10- year reunion.

How sweet and sentimental....don't you love the memories each special ornament has....that's the best part.

Our first christmas I was very sick and neither of us were working....we were only married 3 months.....we got a small table top plastic christmas tree and put our first christmas ornament on it....it takes up half the tree. We put it out every year and are grateful that we have come so far together.

Don't you wish it was Christmas every day throughout the year. How good they would be. Good Job Samantha!

Anyone planning on doing the zip line/canopy tour? I'm in this, "step out of your box" mode and I REALLY want to do this but DH really isn't thrilled about it and he really shouldn't do it because this past January he had surgery on his scaphoid (a bone in the wrist) to have a screw inserted (we were in an auto accident and he broke it) and he really can't bear big time weight on it. Soooo, I really don't want to do it alone but I thought someone here might be up to do it. I think someone said they were going to do it...Monica, was that you? :confused3

We are doing the Zip Line in Cabo!! We did one on the 10-night and LOVED it.:goodvibes

I do, I love the holidays, it really lets you sit back and think. My Grandad loved Christmas. Loved it...his thing was cruising though, and always got me skates and a WDW AP - and a cruise (and John John too - but he got hockey skates!!! we skated in Clearwater!)!....my Grandma loves it as well, but I think since my Grandad died she has never really been the same. She had an in home daycare and always did so much for all her kids, even glueing cottonballs on the windows for snow....It's been a lot of years now, I know my Grandma has John John....(he's my "brother", we grew up together, he's my Uncle Wayne's son whom they adopted when he was 6 weeks, and while my mom would not allow them to adopt me, we grew up together) so she isn't alone, but for me, it is so hard going "home" he always traveled and I got to sleep in their bed when he was overseas. I am not sure that I can ever accept he's gone....I feel I need something tangible.....as awful as that sounds...but....

I am thankful that they, he, saw me perform ...........the day he found out he had cancer, was my national competition at UCLA. He was there with a smile and I was none the wiser. (and we lost...one girl threw a shoe:rotfl: !!)

....they had been in South Africa as well....he was an Engineer with Jacobs Engineering. No matter that I had no one in the audience at any of my shows....I always had a box of roses...a box, I am not sure why or where I thought that, but I felt it was the most romantic way a performer could get flowers...maybe someone I had seen in a play? I still love roses in a box...

Especially when Christmas comes, I miss him so much. He loved me, that I know. There is so much he never saw me do ...I just wish he could have met John, got a glimpse of my girls, let him know how much he influenced my life.

Bengals vs 49ers game is on tonight at 8pm....good thing coz there's nothing else to watch tonight.

She was overdue, wasn't she? I remember you mentioning about a week ago that since you hadn't heard from her all day you were hoping that meant she was having the baby.

Yes! She was about 5 days overdue. It was a LONG labor, but she has a baby boy now, who's adorable. He has great big chubby infant cheeks. They came home from the hospital this afternoon :)

Times have changed....as a kid growing up in Suffolk county we got tons of snow....we never had ice storms.

:santa: :santa: :santa:

Yes, it's changed since I was a kid too.. lots of ICE over the last few years :(

Hi all!!

We are a DCL-loving family of 5 from southern California. :wizard:

We were lucky enough to be on the inaugural crossing and just couldn't pass up the chance to do it again. :cool1:

We just got off the Magic (well two weeks ago) and we had rebooked a "dummy" reservation, just waiting to transfer to this cruise once it opened up. :thumbsup2

We have two rooms on guarantee and I will be working hard to get connecting rooms (of any category). :surfweb:

I have 2600 (!!!) pages to catch up on. Hope to "meet" everyone and join the fun. :dance3:

:tinker: Karen

WELCOME to the thread!!

We saw an amazing movie last night - Juno.

We had passes for a free screening. We think it is probably the best movie we saw this year. I was afraid a movie about teen pregnancy would end up being more of an afternoon special but it was very funny - not in a raunchy way. The girl who plays the title character is an amazing actress!

This actually looked like a good movie to me. I might think about catching it on Tuesday since we get free movies on Tuesdays with our cable tv rewards card.

EEEEEWWWWW.....I'm getting flowers tomorrow....I ordered from 1-800-Flowers for a bouquet to put on the table for the open house when mom's house went to auction. Now I get emails from them all the time. I see the flower arrangements and I'm a sucker for fresh flowers. John used to bring me wild flowers all the time while dating.....and still does at times. But I saw a Christmas bouquet of white lillies and red roses.....that was my wedding bouquet. I just had to order them.

That sounds beautiful- post a pic if you can!

:guilty: No bonus. Maybe I'm wrong and they hand them out the last work day before Christmas rather than the last paycheck before Christmas. I wish I could remember from past years!

I'm sure it will come next week.

Here is the list I was given for May - I am on the Aug Repo but that info isn't out yet

Formal - night 3
Tropical - night 5
Semi formal - night 8
Mexican deck party - night 10
Pirate night - night 13
Formal ballroom under the stars - night 14

THANK YOU!! I can't wait to add this to my trip information sheet. Ballroom Under the Stars sounds beautiful!

Woody, they had the chilled Strawberry soup upon boarding last week....couldn't get the Mango till the first night at Parrot Cay!

HEY...they have a new debarkation breakfast menue. Marilyn's group was the first to try it, and we were the second. You can now get eggs cooked to order....which I think is the reason breakfast took an HOUR. We didn't leave breakfast till 9AM AND there was a line/delay getting off the ship. I don't know if anything else was going on to impact debarkation, but I was used to it being an easy walk off at that time of morning before. :confused3

Mmmmm chilled strawberry soup and eggs made to order.. YUM!

I just had the best soup I've ever had when I went out earlier! Pepper jack crab soup! OH MY GOSH! It was so creamy and had big CHUNKS of crab. Yummy!!!!!!!!

Oh gosh that sounds good!!

We're planning to do the zip lining in Puerto Vallerta. I might have to sit out though since someone has to stay back on the ship with the little kids. I already did ziplining, so I guess I can miss it this time.

Hello Everybody

Remember I told you that I went back to Xmas cooking last October.

Yesterday ladies and I just finished decorations our cakes.

GORGEOUS!!

Something really cool happened to me today! Many years ago, I managed a Subway (the sandwich shop) for about 6 years and the owner and I got along really well. His name is Blake and eventually I started dogsitting for him whenever he travelled. I loved doing that because he had a really big, expensive, luxurious apartment! :cloud9: Didn't like the dog much because it was a whippet and always wanted to sleep under the covers becaues he was cold, and crammed his bony body next to me. Yucky.

Anyway, Blake and I went out on a couple dates and hit it off really well. But he's much older than I am, and that was a problem for him, I think mainly because we were at such different stages in life. He wanted to have a family and I wasn't ready to settle down. I was still trying to finish college, working towards my Bachelors degree. He had graduated from U of M, went through his wild days, etc. and owned 4 Subway stores. SO, we agreed that things wouldn't work for us and both moved on.

As the years passed, I lost contact with him. I knew he had married and had a daughter. I think about him now and then, but haven't talked to him in about 13 years. Just yesterday, I was really thinking about him LOTS and how I wonder what things would have been like with him, how his family is doing, what sort of dad he is, if he's still married, etc. Today, my best friend from back home (Shelly) called me to tell me she just ran into Blake Christmas shopping and the whole conversation involved him asking about me, where I am, if I'm single, how I've been, if I have kids, etc. :scared1: She filled him in on everything and when she told him I'm single, she says his eyes got wide and he told her he's divorced and wishes he could reconnect with me, so she gave him my phone number. :yay:

What a coincidence, with how much I'd been thinking about him just yesterday! Because of how interested he seemed, Shelly told me if I don't hear from him this weekend, I should look him up and give him a call because she thinks he might be nervous to call me after all these years, but she could see his clear interest, so I think I will!

Oh Holly, so romantic!!

OK, going to have some dinner, but I'll try to come back around later. Leftover pot roast with garlic/red pepper pasta on the side is calling my name right now!

I am reading but not posting as I will be leaving in 5 days on my birthday for WDW!!

John and I have been packing, unpacking and weighing suitcases all day. We have tons of electronic gizmos so we have to keep changing suitcases. Our heaviest suitcase weighed 66 pounds so we had to partially upack and repack. Since we are gone for almost three weeks (including CES) we are taking more clothes than we normally take on a trip.

Well, the hospital just called and they have been able to completely ween Frank off of the artifical heart!! We are waiting for the snow to get here...so I went ahead and cooked dinner early (just about ready) and Don and I are going to the hospital.

He is still in a coma and he is still on the ventalator....but this is a very big step. His heart is finally working on its own!!

They are hoping to bring him out of the coma some tonight, so Don and I want to be there.....

Thanks to all for listening me though this.....it really helps to type your thoughts out!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Great news!

In CA.... by HoJo's and DL??

I loved Mimi's - they taught me to mix champagne and cranberry juice- I think they called it a Hibiscus - very nice. They also made the best orange marmalade and cream cheese stuffed french toast.

Love the berries on that french toast too!

Lisa G. did you ever get a PM back from Venetia and Bubba? I think about them and wonder how they are doing....especially being the first holiday since losing Venetia's mom too. I hope they're ok.

I did - they are doing fine, getting ready for Christmas - having a big Christmas Eve dinner at their house with lots of people.

Lisa that is very good news and a big step on Frank's road to recovery. I hope the night goes well.

That is great news. Continued prayers and good wishes for a full recovery.:grouphug:

It was good to see the heart machine gone from his room and his color is good.

They don't know when he will come out of the coma....just a wait and see.
