Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary....17 years. It's gone by so fast. Since I can't see me putting on a dress with heels while both legs are wrapped, John and I decided to stay in. He's going to cook us a special meal....one of our favorites....stuffed tomatoes! Yummy! They're stuffed with a chopmeat and rice mixture then cooked in their own juices. It's so good! Then we're going to open a bottle of wine and watch some movies....just the two of us spending a quiet evening at home. Normally, we would add going in the hot tub to that picture....we have an indoor one...but I can't get the chemicals on my legs.

John wrote a poem that we each recited lines from when we took our vows. Each year we try to remember it and recite it again with each other. After ten years, we had to cheat to remember all the lines....we have it framed in our house. Let's see how we do this year....it reminds us of where we started and what we each wanted out of this relationship. I think we're there!

Deb, that is so sweet! Remembering why you chose this person in the first place is what keeps a marriage strong thru the tough times. What a wonderful tradition you have. An evening just the two of you sounds ideal to me!

Happy Anniversary to you and John. Reciting your wedding vows is such a romantic thing to do for each other.

I am so glad to hear you are feeling better each day.

I just may give the diettogo a try. I actually bought groceries on Sunday, but am still finding it 'difficult' to come home and chop, cook etc.

Your stuffed tomato entree reminded me of one of my favorite veggie side dishes that I like to prepare for company. You stuff a tomato with a mixture of Mexicorn (corn with pimento) and french cut green beens, bake in the oven, then top with parmasean cheese and pop back under the broiler for a few minutes. Very tasty and very pretty!

Glad it's finally Friday and we may get early departure (month end), so that will be nice....perhaps I'll come home and do some HOUSEWORK. :confused3 We'll see......

,
sounds very good I'll have to give it a try one week end, maybe with a grilled London broil.:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It's a large shoulder cut of beef usually served thin sliced like a roast great on a grill or broiled :yay: :yay:

"If you think you know what this is, you’re probably wrong
London Broil, despite what you might find at the local meat market is not a cut of beef but rather a method of cooking. It was one of the first recipes to become popular in early restaurants and so the name London Broil because synonymous with a cut of meat. Originally that cut of meat was flank steak, but over the years the name has been applied to almost any cut of beef that is very lean and less tender. Hence you might find London Broil being a steak or a roast that comes from the sirloin or round sections of cattle. This of course makes the whole thing very confusing.
To make matters worse the original method of the London Broil was simply a flank steak, pan fried to medium rare, cut cross grain and served. This method is perfect for a flank steak because it becomes very tough if cooked too long and by cutting it into strips you made it easy for even the dullest of teeth to get through. "

this is a quote from about.com:rotfl2: :rotfl2: but I still like it:thumbsup2

Ummmm . . . no, it will be (was) 6:00 the same time in OH as New York . . . you just get to see the sun rise a bit sooner. I know OH sounds like the wild west in NY, but we are Eastern time too.

Good morning everyone!

Silly me- I've driven through Ohio plenty of times too- just being airheaded!

We went to Chili's last night....Girl's Night Out....these two love that concept.....

they were both quite good....it was raining and they had been stuck inside all day so I was worried but they listened well.

That sounds like so much fun!

Very scary times here in the capitol city (capitol of Michigan, that is). Our state has the highest unemployment rate in the country, partially due to all the General Motors closures recently (since our state relies heavily on the auto industry). Well, the new fiscal year starts soon and after tons of debating, sometimes until midnight, nobody can agree on a new budget, so the governer has been threatening a government shutdown. She just made an announcement tonight that if an agreement isn't reached by midnight, ALL government services will be shut down effective 10/1, except for health & safety services. That means all of those state employees will be laid off.

I'm not into politics at all, so I'm not sure what it all means, but it sure sounds scary to me. This is why I try not to watch the news. :sad2:

This happened in NJ a couple of years ago. The government services were all shut down for a few days and everyone was in a panic. There were no lifeguards for the beaches, so beaches were shut down and people's summer vacations were ruined.. Otherwise, I think all the employees wound up getting paid vacations.

Sleep is such a wonderful thing....good morning everyone...I took the day off yesterday from my to do list. I was so tired from this past week and needed to rejuvinate. I did a little paperwork, watched some TiVo'd shows, talked to my brother 15 times and took an afternoon nap. I still fell asleep early, so I must have needed it. Today I feel really good.

Got the visiting nurse coming in about an hour then I'm free to continue errands and that darn to do list that never ends....trying to get all the ducks in a row for all the mom stuff. I have more thank you cards to send out, since I'm still receiving cards from people.

Then I have to go out and run some errands with my brother later. We had a few of mom's items on ebay, which have now sold and we need to pick up the money. I had a local company place the items on ebay. They were all collectibles and they did the research and the pictures and will do the mailing for a small fee....it was worth it to me not to have to do the listings myself.

:wizard: :hippie: :wizard:

Glad you got a day off Deb.. and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench.

After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.

"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and a ll the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were
killing each other over 25 cents."

Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"

"Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!'

I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!"

LOL!!!

Ugh, yesterday was just an awful day. Things kept going wrong and stressing me out.. I pulled a muscle in my neck, and we found out that a good family friend isn’t going to live much longer. She found out she has cancer a couple of weeks ago, and now her diagnosis is that there’s nothing they can do because it’s too advanced. She’s home on pain medication.
I just want to crawl back into bed for the rest of the day.

Was it you who was hoping to have a vow renewal onboard next year? Did you hear back?

Yes, that was me! It's quite out of our price range though, since business has been slow for me this fall. I need to pay for the cruise fare and the airfare still. :rolleyes1

Many State workers were told today that the doors will be locked as of 5pm this afternoon and not to bother coming in Monday. They sure won't get paid because of the paycuts they've already taken. I feel awful for my friends (and their 2 little kids) because they're already about to lose their house because of how many cuts the State has been making to the stateworkers' pay.

Ginamarie, our prayers and thoughts with your friend and her family as they struggle with cancer.

OK, I'm cheating now....but here is the poem John wrote for our vows:

John: Lead - I may follow
Deb: Follow - I may lead

Both: Take my hand and walk beside me
We will walk thru this world together

John: Ask - I may answer
Deb: Answer - I may ask

Both: Talk with me and I shall be yours
Friends Forever

John: Touch me - I will respond
Deb: Respond to me - I will touch

Both: Hold Me
And we can reach the stars and play tag among the planets

Isn't that beautiful....After all these years, it still applies. This is the footprint of our marriage....and it works for us.

What wonderful and romatic sentiments to begin a life together, Deb. You are both so lucky to have found each other.

I think we should still party! Maybe we'll just do an impromtu vow renewal.
