UB started but I am taping it so the girls and John can finish watching Narnia........!
Very scary times here in the capitol city (capitol of Michigan, that is). Our state has the highest unemployment rate in the country, partially due to all the General Motors closures recently (since our state relies heavily on the auto industry). Well, the new fiscal year starts soon and after tons of debating, sometimes until midnight, nobody can agree on a new budget, so the governer has been threatening a government shutdown. She just made an announcement tonight that if an agreement isn't reached by midnight, ALL government services will be shut down effective 10/1, except for health & safety services. That means all of those state employees will be laid off.
I'm not into politics at all, so I'm not sure what it all means, but it sure sounds scary to me. This is why I try not to watch the news.![]()
We are now on page 1985, the year our youngest DD Samantha was born.
It is only barely 6:00 PM on the West Coast so I have not even started watching tv. Been busy all day with ophthalmologist appointment, blow dry and manicure. Just got home a little while ago. Looking forward to watching CSI tonight.

John dissing on corgies? Well, all I have to say to that is, look!

How could anyone resist a corgi?
We went to Chili's last night....Girl's Night Out....these two love that concept.....
they were both quite good....it was raining and they had been stuck inside all day so I was worried but they listened well.
Samantha is growing up and she really amazes me. The imagination, the innocence.....I try soo hard to not influence certain things. Of course I want to teach her good values and morals but some things I want her to keep a blank slate and discover and decide for herself.
Haley is such a lover....always wants a hand to hold or a hug or you to hold her. She's such a little bit. it's not hard to hold her constantly and she is quite spoiled by all her teachers. I am trying to include Samantha whenever I do hold/pick up Haley. I think she gets a bit jealous now and then. That's why I want to do the mommy and daddy one on one's.
When I picked her up today...."is it girl's night out mom?"....um, no dear, I can only handle one a week!
wow is everyone sucked into TV or just have a life?

In addition to the water heater being broken, our dryer quit as well. Luskily my mom had an extra one......she dropped it off!! Thank goodness....I have panties hanging everywhere to dry!
Well, that's good to know. I've never heard of that happening. We go through this fire drill quite often in California, so I wouldn't panic.
Well, that just sounds crazy! Good grief! Well, we already have a huge chunk of State workers off without pay or being forced to take paycuts, or their jobs were discontinued because of budget cuts, so this is just scary for many friends I have who are state workers. They don't even know if they'll get a paycheck in a few days because it's happened to them before. The State is just trying to cover their over $1Billion debt. I just hope my friends will be OK because they all have kids to support. I've seen ones get the axe in past rounds of eliminating jobs recently. As much as I dislike my job at times (which we all do occasionally), this sure makes me grateful for what I have. This happened with the Federal gvt. some years ago. As I recall we all were told to stay home one day, it was settled and we got paid for that day anyway. Silliness!
