how cool you guys are having a mini-meet! Have fun!
It was so great to meet Kaylee in person! We had a fun time talking about fun times we'll all have on the ship!!! And sitting at the pool was nice, although it was hot as you know what!!!

Jan and V....I took your advise and called the wound center and asked about the antibiotics...they asked what the Dr. said who prescribed them. I told them the emergency room prescribed them and told me that if it doesn't clear up by the end of the script, then I would have to be admitted. The wound center said I should get my butt back to emergency and get admitted.

Deb-sorry to hear this news, I know you don't want to go to the hospital, but please do whatever you need to do to get better!!! We're rooting for you!!!

Yup. Bottom front. He was on the playground at day care and when he yelled to his friend, it just fell out! He felt it fall and screamed "My tooth! My tooth!" He couldn't find it, so all the teachers and all the kids helped him look. They all searched on their hands & knees for 10 minutes and one kid finally found it for him. Fortutely, it was on the asphalt instead of the grass, or it probably would have been harder to find.
How exciting! The tooth fairy is coming!!!! Drew lost both his bottom teeth this summer. He's one of the few kids in Kinder that already lost a tooth. One boy lost a tooth today at school. They made a big deal about it, it was really cute!

Well, Lisa just left and it was so great to finally meet! It was so weird to hear her voice the first time, after only "talking" on line for so many months! It was around 118 here today so we spent the whole time in the pool talking. Before we knew it, it was time for Lisa to go home....good thing we left a few things so we can have something to talk about on the cruise:lmao: We enjoyed a pina colada and forgot to take any pictures of our mini mini meet! I am sure we'll make up for that on the cruise! Thanks for driving here to meet up Lisa!!!:thumbsup2
Thanks Kaylee-it was great to meet you too. We were enjoying ourselves too much to take pics! Oh well!!! Can't wait until MAY!!!!

ok the account I have been playing with on cafepress is

Sign in = pennydegeer@rogers.com

These are just custom single items, I think that V is going to work on a shop.
Thank you! These all look awesome. Can we order anytime or do we need to wait?

John made homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner...even though it's hot out it was yummy!

Oh man, here we go again.....I NEED some of that for the code ib by dnose.

OK....Kathe, Kaylee, Marilyn, Jan, V, Jackie, Peg, Holly, Heather, Gator, Gydell and Lisa.....sooooooo good of you all to be so concerned about the legs....here's what I have decided to do:

I'll pack a bag to do a hosptial stay and I'll bring it with me to my wound center appointment on Thurs. If I go into the emergency room tomorrow, it'll take six hours to get admitted. If I wait one more day, the wound center will admit me. I prefer to do it that way. After six weeks, one more day is not going to matter and it'll be so much easier doing it that way. OK, when I disappear for a couple of days from Thurs on.....you'll know where I've gone! I'm sure I'll have lots of catching up to do....no DIS in the hosptial. I'll miss you all, but hope to be back soon!:grouphug:  :grouphug:

This sounds like a good plan. :thumbsup2

Little sis brought me dinner and uncola and, best of all, the puppy dogs over for a visit! :dog: :dog: My :cat: was very glad to see her 'cousins'. OK...she pretty much ignored them except for the time they were sharing her food with her!

Can't wait to place an order for our 'stuff'. I should wait till we set up shop? Think I'm going to need one of those journals for trip report notes for sure :thumbsup2

OK....bed time for me...have to go to work tomorrow.

Here's something to consider... money saved thanks to a number of god neighbors on your sailing!

[edited]

At any rate - I can totally embrace the pleasure of recent developements with the PC tax change/DCL passing and reversal of such/ and the surprising generosity of our TAs (mine is not DU - but totally 1st rate/1st class in matching thier increase in CCredit).

You see - If we had 2,350 PAX per sailing (2,400 max) the savings would amount to $470,000 collectively between both PC transit voyages. Plus you can factor in the cabin credit increase from $200 to $400 for the inside or window cabins and the bump for veranda or better reservations from $300 to $600. If we assume 15-25% of us have a TA offerring the increased cabin credit - then 705-1150 folks or an conservatively estimated 217-361 cabins (assume 3.25PAX/cabin average) have just received another $200-300! I got $300 because my TA jumped her cabin credit from $100 to $400. So the 217-361 cabins between the two PC sailings could have averaged $250 in increased cabin credit! That amounts to a fair estimation of an additonal $54,250-90,250 in which some of us will benefit.

pig-an.gif

In my party we have 30 people in 9 cabins. So our savings comes to $3,000 (reversed port transit fees) and the cabin credit has been increased from $1100 to $4000. We're pleased to have improved our financial balance from a negative $1,900 to $4000 positive .... a $5,900 difference in my little group.

So we've saved a certain $470,000+ and an estimated $54,000-90,000 in increased cabin credits for the 2 PC sailings! That's a sweet $524,000-560,000!!! I would like to think our DIS community had something to do with bringing most of this about - or rather - we primarily influenced/expedited the $470,000 DCL reversal.

If you agree then there's something to smile about, eh? :thumbsup2

Trying to catch up, haven't been on since DD's Birthday on Friday. I have about 35 pages to catch up!

Surprised DD with a surprise party on Saturday night at our wine shop! He really was surprised! Will post pictures soon.

Would appreciate some good thoughts...

We went to move our web servers last Wednesday and our "helpers" dropped one of our Sun Microsystem moocho expensive machines and our web-sight has been down ever since.

We have been struggling to get our shop rolling all summer and our internet sales have been helping to keep us going. With our web down for a full week now we are really struggling.

We had 2 partners that bailed on us with all of the delays from the builders with our new space, and we had, what we thought, was a great partner that came on board with us in May and he has "literally" disapeared! Started lot's of projects (he's a contractor) but never finished them. Our floor has lifted continually all summer!

We keep thinking good thoughts, working hard and hoping for things to gel, but it's been an uphill battle with just our own funding and now to be without our internet... well, I hope that we can get the systems up by tomorrow, or we are probably toast!

Ok, thanks for listening... I'm going back to catching up now.

Karen

Oh, and my feet are freezing here! I have been wearing fit flops all summer, but I am beginning to need socks and they don't go too well with them. going to have to get my Crocs out again.

We're in for another over 90 degree day! Not going to cool down for at least a week! It's not HORRIBLE HOT, but it's still TOO HOT FOR ME!!

I do hate it when my feet are cold, tho'!

Hope it's a sunny day today!:hippie:

Karen

well no accidents! Yeah Haley!

It wsa so funny, she was on the playground and when she saw me and came running and her skirt fell down! It's just too big!

Aaaw, cute!! Well done Haley.

Samantha brought home homework, huge letters C and T and we have to find things to glue to them that start with the letter.

I always thought the childrens' homework was really parents' homework!!!:rotfl2:

Guess what happened today?! No, he's not crying in the picture, it's just the face he made to show the camera!

FirstLostTooth8-21-07.jpg

He looks so cute!!:)

Well, some people have suggested a few quarters, but he regularly receives quarters for working around the house, so it won't mean much to him. Somehow I feel the tooth fairy should bring more than that. Maybe $2.00? I had planned on giving him a couple of those gold dollar coins (our vending machines at school give those as change) but wasn't prepared because I thought for sure that tooth would hang around another couple weeks.

Here's another problem: He wants to keep the tooth (in its ziploc bag) to show everybody. Does the tooth fairy still come? Or does his tooth have to disappear in order for the tooth fairy to leave money? I'm so confused! But I'd hate to have him wake up and look under his pillow, expecting money in the morning, and then be sad because he thinks the tooth fairy forgot him. :confused3

I bet all us parents have forgotten to notify the tooth fairy at leat once!!

That's a great idea. I talked to my DH and he is opting convenience over saving $....I think we'll just take the DCL transportation to DL instead. He may change his mind closer to the trip. We are hoping to spend multiple days at WDW since there is more parks and to see there and we have family in FL so in DL we may only spend 2 nights there since we could always go there since its closer to us. As far as transportation to the port in FL...my in-laws live in Melbourne so they always drive us to the port. :) That's a great idea for savings...but since we have little ones and its a vacation my DH usually opts for convenience.

I think the $12 van is for folk staying at the Candy Cane Inn. I think if we were staying at DL we would take the Disney transport, butnot sure if they stop at other hotels. There are 4 groups of us staying at CCI, so this is great.

Oh Karen, I knew you had problems earlier, but thought they were resolved. Sorry you have come accross rogue 'partner's.:sad2:

Lots of love and:grouphug: coming your way.

Deb - Let's get those legs healed!!! Love to you.

He goes to his dad's every Wed, Thurs, Fri. His dad picks him up from my house after work every Wed. & I pick him up from his dad's every Saturday at 5pm.

Holly,

That sounds like a great schedule, it probably helps Tyler with it being more of a routine.

Are you both flexible if either one of you wants him for a full weekend?

Looks like your weight loss ticker went down again! Congratulations! 30 pounds is awesome!

Karen

I am trying to change Crystal Palace to 50's Prime time....9pm is the earliest and the park closes at 8?? We decided not to do the Pirate and Princess party. we did it in Feb and loved it. But I had us scheduled to go on Tues, the night we arrive and it would be a big time crunch....I may change my mind though!

We LOVED 50's Prime Time Cafe!!

The picture of us on the website (under pics) is of us there last December.

The food was great, but WAY too much of it! The Fried Chicken should be split! But was delish! The Milk Shakes are awesome!

Be prepard to be called "Sis" and you will be reminded to put your napkin in your lap (and to use it) and to "Clean your plate"!

Karen

That's another reason we like DCL - no hinneys(is that a word) hanging out in the shows!

Wanna' Bet!

Last Panama Canal Cruise there were at least 2 women that we saw that would put a Vegas Show girl to shame!

DH was even talking about them on another thread... Just plain tacky!!

Karen

Holy shmoly! I didn't think I'd ever get caught up! What a chatty bunch! I'd get close to being caught up, then it'd be so late I'd have to go to sleep and by the next day I was 10 pages behind again! Here we go...

I had one for years but last year my DH said that now that my DS started full day Kinder and my DD is in preschool I would have tonz of time...not. It's been one year and I'm still going through withdrawal. I think if I never had a cleaning lady I would have been fine but once you have one you depend on them and get used to them that it is real hard going back. It's a nice treat but if you have a regular one its hard to go back
I gave up my cleaning ladies when I retired. I do miss is, but I just can't justify it now that I have NOTHING else to do!:dance3:

As far as I'm concerned that is complete success...my favorite is pajama day with the kids:thumbsup2 I'm still in my pj's and loving every minute of it just waiting on my DH to get home to make food on the grill and go swimming:)
When you're retired, EVERY day can be pajama day!:woohoo: (and it often is, for me!)

we were originally booked on the May Transatlantic and once I saw air fares I choked and cancelled. I think the PC will be better though and DH is really excited about it as well.

As much as the Transatlantic crossing would be an experience, I think our cruise is just going to be special.
Mind you some of the Med ports are super.

I had booked the WB transatlantic, but backed out. I'm so much happier to be on our cruise!

We have been to Arizona 3 times. We just love it. The first time we were doing the grand tour, and came from LA via a few nights in Palm Springs. We stayed a couple of nights in Phoenix as a stopover before staying in Willians for a night for the Grand Canyon, and then going on to Las Vegas etc.

Next time we flew to Phoenix, did a little business and then set off for 2 nights at the Grand Canyon and a tour around the National Parks - ending up at Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelle(?sp) and back through the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest and 5 nights in Scottsdale for a hot relax!

The last time we had 7 nights in Tucson, which we just loved, 2 nights at the Grand Canyon, 3 back in Scottsdale before ending back in Tucson for a few nights.

Once in September and twice in June - hot, hot, hot. We so want to go back again - perhaps as part of our 40th wedding anniversary trip in 2009!

I didn't know they did that with the train at Williams. The Polar Express would be fun!

The summer rates for the hotels in Phoenix/Tucson area are amazing aren't they? The heat didn't hold us up too much, but we didn't go to some of the outdoor attractions. I prefer the dry heat there. The Grand Canyon is very special.

Arizona is wonderful! BUT...I'm REALLY ready for summer to be over!:scared1:

I feel blessed that my kids and GK's love to travel with us on vacations!!
I have so many wonderful memories of trips with my grandmother! I was blessed!

OK, so let me tell you what we did in NYC . . .

John, your trip sounded wonderful, especially the shows! I saved your post in case I ever get to make a trip to New York!

The Apple Store:
20420IMG_7757.jpg
OMG! It looks like a destination in itself! I went to the Apple Store in Chicago and could have spent hours there!
BYW John, how are you liking iLife '08? Have you used the new iMovie? I've read a lot of not-happy comments about it. How about the new iPhoto?

Bummer about your air conditioning! We have just the opposite problem. It's been so cold the past few days, I actually turned on the heat Friday night! Today we had to wear jeans and jackets. It only got up to 61 today. But I'm thrilled to not be sweaty and miserable for a change.
61 degrees...sounds like heaven to me!

Each year I say I am going to cut down but I find it hard. We have never gone overboard with how much we spend, but with 8, as of next month, grandchildren and their parents to buy for it is a problem. I have managed to cut down on friends' presents.

I love to shop the sales after Xmas and find smokin' deals to put away for friends' and family's gifts the following year. I have quite a stash!

They both sound awesome....let's do whichever one is your favorite! I can't wait to ride the slantavator and go sideways...what a trip!!!!

I can't wait for this vacation, we're going to meet so many friends who have now become more like family and we're going to have the time of our lives!!!!
:cool1: :thumbsup2  :woohoo:
Home safe and sound from Breckenridge. Got a cold in my nose.....

Jackie, I hope you're feeling better soon!

You know, we are so close, we shouldn't wait to try to arrange a big DIS meet....let's just try for lunch or Starbucks at Desert Ridge or something. PM me if you'd like to do that.

Miss T - was mentioning another AZ Dis meet - maybe we can get GATOR to join us this time. Think we can get MISS CHERI down here in this heat for another one????

Yes, Miss Cheri would like to get together again with you all--let me know if/when you have a plan!

ALL CAUGHT UP!
Jackie, how do you DO it??? I'm very impressed with your speed! I'm more like :snail:

DH John and I were talking about it and it seems to make the most sense. I've got to still be okay because I don't have a fever. If I did, I would go to the hospital immediately....thanks for your care and concern....I will take care of it and get rid of it once and for all!
Deb, I've been following your trials and I hope by the time you read this you are well on the road to recovery! Please take care of yourself!

Oh dear! I hope things get straightened out soon for you, Karen!

Holly, I loved following the saga of Tyler's tooth. I was a total weenie about my loose teeth when I was a kid--I wouldn't let anyone pull them out 'cause I was afraid it would hurt! It would drive my parents crazy, as I recall!;)

I've got my class reunion coming up in less than 4 weeks. I'm going to be busy with that but will do my best to stay caught up. I'm reading, but don't always post. Love to all!:grouphug:

Love, Hugs, Positive Prayers and Pixie Dust to you, Karen. I say forget the Partners and go to a Venture Capitalist company...all they do is lend money to wothwhile businesses and YOURS IS!!!!! In the future, try to always have a back up server for the website! Less downtime! I'm keeping you in my thoughts that things will turn around quickly and go well again. You can't stop now, you just opened the new shop and we're all looking forward to placing our next order on winemiles.com! Do your best to hang in there and stay positive! We're all rooting for you and sending you our love!:grouphug:  :grouphug: :grouphug: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Deb,

Still catching up... It's been a rough few days with the business.

We will be in WDW from the 17th, (when we get off the 7 day Eastern) to the morning of the 26th!

I hope that we can find a spot to get together!

Karen

YEAHHHHH! We'll be there on 22, 23, 24 and 25...when the time gets closer, let's put our plans together and meet for a champagne toast and a hug!!! :hippie:

Deborah, I know Marilyn invited you to join the Champagne Girls tasing party....but, let me invite you to join our ladies only high tea party. It will be held on the boat at Palos.

We lost UKangel/Mandy....she had to cancel....but Marilyn and Mandy were going to hold court and we would all learn Brittish slang and how it differs from our language. Would you like to join us and teach us some Scottish slang? Is it different from Brittish? It could be a lot of fun, would you please join us and teach us? I'll put you on the list.
:coffee: :rolleyes1 :coffee:

Welcome Back....I sent you a PM with all the information. It'll be loads of fun!

Good morning everyone.

I am reading, but not posting much.

I have been too busy - and we are trying to get Alex moved to his place for school.

Cherie, I will let you know about iLife '08 as soon as I get a chance.

I really miss chatting, but between work and the start of school for the kids coming up, I feel like I am drowning this week. And, you guys are making it hard enough just to read it all lately!

Have a great hump day everyone!

okay, who was it that said they ride and will ride with Molly? Was it your sister????

I got my Disney.com UPS box

I got DIS lime shirts for DH & I and tried to get 2 for the kids, but....they sent me an email telling me they ran out and could only ship 1. OKAY who gets it? Now I'm in the hunt for 1 DIS Mickey shirt.

Also got the postcards outfits for all of us. (okay, and a tshirt and shorts for me and 3 mickey polos for Molly, she can wear them as their uniform shirts to school)

:confused3 postcards outfits?:confused3
Jan :earsgirl:

Hi..welcome back from your trip. We love the angel tree. I first did it years ago hoping my little will learn more about giving...they surprised me. I expected my oldest DS to be really upset picking things he would love and letting go in the end but he didn't mind. I always try to pick boy his age and a girl my DD age and they pick things for them and we donate in the end ...I think we'll make that a tradition from now on. I'm still figuring out how they could feel it more...maybe use their allowance money that month?:confused3
Any other ideas on how the little ones could give more...my DD(5), DS(7)atoc...I thought they might be too young to volunteer in the soup kitchen but they thought they were too young. Any thoughts?

Some families like to take the gifts over and deliver the stuff themselves. We always preferred to do it anonymously--so as not to ring our own bells or to impose what might be seen as "aren't we wonderful to help you out" on the recipients. If they wanted to credit Santa, then our delivery would make that not work.

I also wondered how it would feel to them if they bumped into us later on-- there they are in Wal-Mart, the rich folks who gave our family Christmas--would that be comfortable for them or odd? I just did not know, so we involved the kids in giving our items to the collecting agency and that was it.

We told the kids the plan, involved them in the shopping when feasible and wondered aloud if the kids would like the gifts. Sometimes we were involved in buying food for the Christmas dinner too.

Some kids are BORN with a COMPASSION GENE and others have to be taught. No one can tell you how to play this out, you have to do what works for your family.

Jan :earsgirl:

Ok so it looks like if we have nine people we can rent a private van for $12 a piece. Not bad. I will look into it more and call a few companies soon.

On the 10 night last year DH and I did a zip line tour. It was a blast! I hope to do it on this one as it sounds different. It is really safe, although the guy behind us did get cut really bad:headache: . It is very safe, harnesses, clips and when you reach a platform the clip you to a tree.

How did he get cut?
