you know, I feel like a horrible mom....

my girls are trouble at times but usually so very sweet. Especially apart from one another.

I feel so bad, but I can't wait until we can all play games together and have fun. They are just a bit in between right now. Johnny and I ---- as my sis and mom - loves games!!! Especially during hurricane season when we usually lose power for a bit.

I have to win though!

Amy and I quit playing games a long time ago, exactly because of what you said last . . . I am a fierce competitor, who wants to win - Amy hates that! She would get really MAD at me when I would not give breaks in games . . . she finally quit playing with me because she got tired of losing:rotfl2:

I think John is a big competitor too V . . . remember the pool volleyball at Beach Club? There were John and I, the two biggest gorillas in the pool, on either side of the net - shoving women and children out of the way so we could stuff the ball down each other's faces!

Alex and I play games - we are both serious Trivial Persuit and Scrabble players.

Indians currently tied 1-1

Bed soon - enough trying to catch up with Holly in one night!:lmao:

Amy is like John - she just lurks most of the time on the DIS.

I was pretty quiet in school and college - but changed after that. I get a lot of my communication needs here - I like to meet people with the same interests, and I am the talker instead of Amy. Now, once Amy gets to know someone . . . different story as you know V.

I have found it tough to have good friends here because:

1 - job gets in the way - I am the enforcer for the company, and when you think about it, most people have most friends from work.

2 - Don't drink much.

3 - Don't golf

4 - Love Disney (considered odd for a 47 year old by most I know)

5 - School board member - no one in the community wants to be your friend (in general, not always) unless they want to bend your ear, or want to grind thier axe.

6 - Technology Geek

7 - Undergrad in Art (what?)

8 - Homebody

9 - Tell people what is on my mind

and the last Letterman top 10 reason . . .

10 - have been married more than 20 years . . . almost everyone we know has been divorced at least once.

and John is like Amy, he doesn't lurk, I keep him posted but ask Amy, OI know he's probably talked her ear off once or twice.

I have found it VERY hard to have friends here. I moved here for John and he is 10 years older than me and he has the same work ethic as you....so really no friends from work.

Drinking, well, I like to think it isn't much, but we try to limit it to football games and vacation and by then I am so excited to have a drink that's probably all I will write about!

Johnny and I can't golf - ok I can't, he's just as bad though, I stick with driving the carts and in FL, if you don't golf or fish every weekend, you are just weird.

Love WDW....I DO, John does too but he won't readily admit it unless Samantha or Haley asks him.

No School board members here but hey, that may change in the nexy few years...
I would love to think I am techm but I don't pretend to!

we are very much homebodies

as well....I have a specific 5 mile radius we can;t leave~~~

we can;t touch teh 20 years but last May we were together 10 and then we go with the 0000's so this Dec 7 years.

this is quite embarassing but we are all friends here right?

this was before we had children so prior to 10/2002 but the people DH worked for had Devil Rays season tickets ---great seats...we went to probably 18 games in a season. We always got there before batting practice and DH and I would go out to left field.....for a ball....well the Indians were in town and Manny hit one out.....my DH

KNOCKED over everyone in sight to get the ball.

OK, we are not even two weeks into school and already Sophia has brought home THREE fundraisers to sell!

Who else HATES school fundraisers????

Amy and I would rather write a check directly to the school (yes, I know some parents cannot do that) - plus they get the kids all pumped up with promises of prizes and parties that you are stuck.

Most of this comes from the PTO that keeps pushing the fundraisers because our schools cannot afford the extras for the kids and the teachers (all worthy - just hate using the kids).

I would just love to be wealthy and say to our school, this year, there will be no fundriasers, I would donate all the money they wanted to make so that no kids or their parents had to be salespeople, shilling cookie dough, entertainment books, discount cards, and expensive wrapping paper.

OK - school board member now off the soapbox on school fundraisers!

I HATE the school fundraisers too. We end up buying all this stuff we don't need to support the school. Funding is really bad in AZ but we have a great school and parents donate tonz but its never enough. We used to have one big fundraiser a year and nothing else but now some parents say they want a variety so now we are looking at more than one:eek:

John-school board member? Art undergrad...that was my undergrad major that's how ended up in Rome my last semester. I ended up as an HR Manager in medical though and now just a mommy. Funny how things go.

a side note....

you guys see me posting about softball....Manny's old roommate is one of our dear friends as are many Domincan's that ended up in Sarasota. Jesus roomed with Manny and his first game when he came to the Devil Rays we took Jesus and we all met, went in the dug out and wow., Manny was not speaking much English at all. He signed a bucket of balls and really shyed away from the media.

There are a whole team of Dominican's who play softball here who do not speak English ----- who all day long, should be in the MLB if they had someone to speak for them.

Yup - sounds like something John would do, or I might do - I would only hesitate for children. And then maybe only hesitate! Too funny!

I am with you on the 5 mile radius...I'm not a big fan of driving everywhere on the highway. DH and I have been married 10years too. We usually take a cruise for our anniversaries w/out kids RCCL in late Jan./early Feb. and it is the best cruise weather...not hot or cold...beautiful:thumbsup2

Wow . . . that is really interesting.

One of the girls who used to be in our office used to get called by Albert Belle all the time - she was a real cutie - but she never went out with him.

Indians up 2-1 Guttierez just hit a homer, and now Hafner hit a double.

Do you guys know we are now up 7.5 games?

OK, off to bed V - early Friday tomorrow.

Thanks for the company!

Wow . . . that is really interesting.

Thanks for the company!

and you as well!

I don't tend to keep up with the Indians as much as you and DH, now that Johns ball has started up I will..also, we - or I, a few years ago, won a Devil Rays package from a grocery store give away, we met Fred McGriff Wade Boggs and several others. This was a while ago, no kids, but we got to be in the dugout during bp! Pretty cool!

So Jan 09 is a Geek reunion? any particular date? I am spoiled now, I feel like I can only book cruises with my DIS Geeks!:cool1:

:lmao: :rotfl: I know the feeling. We get to sail with Brack and Annette this Dec, then no Geeks till May! :sad2:

Just keep us posted. John and I are up for whatever you guys are doing...unless of course you need to tell us to get lost!:lmao:

Have you guys done Jan before? If it's the Caribbean, I guess the weather would be a lot like Dec??

We've done January eastern and first week in Feb 4 day. Weather was perfect both trips!

Yeah, wait until Amy (and Kim) see this. It will be John, John, and Steve at the Mickey pool, while the girls play on the ship, or lay somewhere with cucumbers on their eyes.

That's OK though Vanessa, I know my place.

Can the old guy, DrHug join you? :rolleyes1

I hated them so much that during Jaide's first year I decided it would be so much better to have school auctions than sell junk, so I opened my mouth and became PTA president and Auction Chair all in one foul swoop:scared1: But, I successfully started the auctions and we no longer sell junk!! :thumbsup2 After 3 years though, I happily resigned this year and it is my first year off the PTA and auction committee and I am so HAPPY!!! PTA/Auctions are exhausting.

And an occasional belt when the inlaws show up!:rotfl:

Wow, I hate being in the bottom 10! I need to start posting! I just feel so bad since I never can catch up.

I did read a bit about school fundraisers. The one thing I like about our school is they do just two fundraisers -at the beginning when they simply ask for money. No magazines to sell, no gift wrap, just write a check. They encourage everyone to participate, even if it is just $25. Most give around $500-$1000, some give $25K. Guess they like to see their name up on top.

And then in the spring they have a nice auction - nice stuff. Great party, fun to see the competition. We got a good deal on swim lessons at 50% of the cost. Others payed $15,000 for "special" school parking when they drop off their kids. Crazy! I think I mentioned on here before, last year I think it was, when someone paid $100,000 for a dinner for 50. Now that is fundraising I like - none of my money, no trickets to sell, and my kids still get some good education!!
