Lisa,

Now I know that I am the one confused . . .

We are not planning on leaving Sunday - you must mean from the port . . .

We are going to DL after the cruise (at least that is the plan) and leaving from DL on Tuesday morning. I believe SNA is closer to DL . . . is that correct?

John,

We always take Orange County Airport (John Wayne/SNA) from DL, this last trip, 3 weeks ago, it only took us 15 to 20 minutes on both Wednesday and on Sunday with a great cab driver.

Karen

I figure when we feel claustrophobic we can just go visit Karen or Noel in their suites don't you think?? :rotfl: Knock..knock..knock....I know it is 2am but we just wanted some fresh air in our PJs please!:lmao:
Lisa

Yeah... good luck with that!

Karen

We flew SNA to SJC (san jose) last tuesday it was fine. We got to the airport at 2pm, no line at all. did your hubby fly out in the morning? that I'm sure was normal commute traffic rush hour. I wouls suspect afternoon flights would be fine.

We'll likely fly SNA to SJC that Sunday or Monday to get home.

He flew ONT and yes, it was in the morning (like 6-7am)....which is when he normally flies out of ONT, but he did ask the desk attendent and she said it was holiday traveller's going home before the day starts. ONT is part of the LAX airport family so it does tend to be busier than SNA, but not as busy as LAX. Go figure....

There's always deck 4 . . . other than deck 10, the biggest verandah on the ship (this is what I keep telling myself as we have not booked a verandah for the last several cruises). Once we became so addicted to DCL, it was either give up the Verandah, or not cruise as much. One time we got upgraded from an 8 to a 4 (December 2005). We chose just like Angie to cruise more. I haven't had the guts yet to give up the window though . . .

It is way late, I need to get to bed!
Deck 4.....Aaahhhhhh......my favorite part of the ship! I dream about sitting in one of those deck chairs and watching the water go by! Can't wait!

My alarm went off at 7:30am today. I forgot to shut it off for the weekend. Don't remember it waking me up yesterday morning though....must have slept through it. ;) It's way too early for me to be up on a weekend! Back to bed I go for a couple hours. :goodvibes More Disney dreams for me!

It seems like Lisa had taken care of all of these questions. I have lived in So Cal for 9 years now and I am still not used to the traffic! Driving to LAX fro mDL can be painful no matter what time of day. It all depends on traffic, etc...

We have always found good fares out of ONT but have not been so lucky out of SNA.

Yes, I've determined I can live without the verandah, but I'm not so sure I can live without the window......I have to have a lock on where I am and what time of day it is!

I LOVED not having a window. It was the first time in my life i have slept so good. My husband could not believe it. That could also be due to the fact that my DM had our daughters in her stateroom! We will probably not be that lucky on this cruise though. The prices are much higher on this one then the trans atlantic.

With the 6 time changes through the atlantic though, I NEVER new what time it was! :rotfl:

I loved my Cat 11 on my first cruise (my little 'cave') and I also slept the best I have in years. I also like the floor plan of the inside cabins better...'living room' first and 'bedroom' in the back. It avoids that one way street at the foot of the bed. I'll even have a 'do not upgrade' note put on my reservation for this cruise!:thumbsup2

Peg and I are heading off to a ladies brunch at the Princess in Scottsdale today. I'm really looking forward to it, as I spent a good chunk of yesterday reading WDW menues (for our Dec ADR's) and was very unhappy when I only had a hot dog for dinner. We did a conference call with our travel companions and selected: LeCellier, Narcoossee, Whispering Canyon and Kona Cafe. We'll book a back up for Narcoossee night at Raglan Road in case we aren't in a spluzzy restaurant frame of mind that day. (YES, I know....double ADR booking...we WILL call and cancel the one we don't use.)

We also booked a Segway tour at Epcot. Any of you ever done that? It looks like most of the tour will be folks from our group, so that should make it extra fun!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

John-I edited my post after I wrote it because I realized it needed clarification of port vs. DL. Yes, I was originally referring to leaving from the port.

If you're leaving from DL, you certainly want to try going out of SNA or ONT. SNA is the closest. Since it's the day after a holiday it will be busy. Mark flew out of ONT on Tues this year, the day after Memorial Day, heading to Chicago and he was SHOCKED at how busy the airport was. He said he was extra early by chance, and was very glad he was because it took an extra 45 minutes to get through security, and all the lines of people. He travels a lot, so that's good info coming from him.

SNA and ONT are the same size wise, but ONT is a tad further from DL. So if you're looking for schedule, price options, check both. Leaving on Tuesday morning going out of ONT you'd be going AGAINST traffic but going out of SNA you'd be right in the thick of yucky morning traffic.

Hope that helps!

We flew back to SJC from SNA on Monday morning May 20 after the DIS meet. The early morning lines were very long. Took us about a half an hour to get through security. When my sister lived in Diamond Bar, we always flew out of ONT because of the traffic going to SNA.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

All four adults did the Segway at Epcot last trip to WDW. We had a blast!! DH would like to buy one but where we live it would not be practical to use.

I am flying to Reno today to drive up to Lake Almanor to help my sister open up our house. We close it down usually in late October for the winter as there isn't any good skiing nearby these days since the closed the lifts at Lassen years ago.

I am a real native Southern Californian (born in Pasadena) so I only "visit" snow!!

Hope to be back by Tuesday afternoon but will try to at least read and keep up. Still haven't had time to write up the graduation saga.

Interesting all this talk of airports . . .

I checked out with some phantom dates, and the date of my upcoming trip to a conference at DL in November . . .

Frontier Airlines has cheaper fares from our airport CAK, than any other airline into the area, including SW, and Continental (which are out of Cleveland). Surprisingly in contrast to what the experience is that you guys are listing, the cheapest fare is into SNA - more expensive to fly into LAX.

In November, I can get a $270 round trip to SNA from CAK.

Anyone have any experience with Frontier? They started flying out of our local airport about a year or two ago - two flights daily into their hub in Denver.

So DH John and I were talking over coffee this morning and we decided how many bags to pack and how much to take with us. We decided to only bring seven days worth of clothing for the three weeks and do some laundry.

How is the world do you get your DH to talk to you about packing? It will be the night before the cruise and my DH will still not have packed nor given one thoughts as to what he will bring. It drives me CRAZY!! I'm such a planner and he is a fly by the seat of his pants type of traveler. It is amazing we don't drive each other insane in the period of time before a trip! Me endlessly talking about the trip and he just nodding his head or shaking it and hoping that he is responding appropriately since he isn't listening to a word I'm saying! I'm not complaining...if we both were OCD we'd probably would go insane!
Lisa

My eldest son (9 yrs) and I just got back from walking in the Relay for Life. We had a 5am shift. After we had breakfast then mass. Then a quick visit back to the park to visit other members of our team. It was the first time my work participated - it felt good to do something like this. Although now, at 9am my time just back home after leaving at 4:30am I am ready for the day to be done! Maybe a quick nap before Sunday chores. My DS on the other hand is running around the house playing up a storm with his brothers. Where in the world do kids get their energy???? If they could bottle that, it would outsell every other drug no doubt!
Lisa

afternoon all!! DH is diligently working in the yard - it is gorgeous out. If I can get the girls to nap I am going to repot most of my orchids. We finally watched the Da Vinci Code last night. A few things differed from the book but I really enjoyed it. Happy Sunday!

Now, my John is more like your husband Lisa, though I think he thinks he is interested!:rotfl: I do all the packing, though he does come along and say he has too much stuff. His clothes etc. usually fills under half a suitcase. Mine and the toiletries fill the rest! He can't understand my OCPD but does admit once we are away on holiday that he benefits!

We love Frontier! Have flown them out of San Diego to Phila a couple of times.

They have satellite tv available in every seat for $5 per leg. Plus they always serve a warm snack - like breadsticks with marinara sauce, soft pretzels and in themornings donuts.

Plus they have cute animals on the plane tails.

Just finished posting a bunch of books on ebay that I came across when rearranging my bedroom last night. I have about 10 more to list, but am tired of the process. Then there are a few things I need to take pics of to list there as well. But it's nice to be getting rid of stuff! :thumbsup2

Have to get to the store to buy more laundry detergent. Have to get caught up on laundry this week for our trip to Florida Saturday. :woohoo: Work sucks SO BAD lately that I'm almost counting the hours until this mini-vacation! :yay: It will only be 3 days away from the office, but I think that will hold me over until our November cruise and then after that, it will only be a few months until THIS CRUISE!!!! YIPPEE!
