Lisa DisneyLover5, one VERY important thing came up while you were gone....Bobby Banana is touring the country. First he's going to the Outer Banks with John and Amy then he starts hitting the sights all around the country. So if you want to be a host and have him in your neighborhood and show him around....let John1 know.:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Really, no kidding....the guy gets around ya know! We've seen pics of him everywhere!:dance3:  :woohoo: :cheer2:

OK, I have to ask...and keep in mind I got about 100 pages behind when I went to Hawaii...WHO or WHAT is "Bobby Banana?" Is he like Flat Stanley or the lawn gnome that travels around the world and gets his picture taken?:confused3

John 6'2"
Deb 5'2"

.....the more I read about CA....Delaware is looking better and better....10 mins. from the beach, all four seasons in moderation....not -20 in winter and not 100+ in summer, no state tax, no sales tax, only $60k for 5 acres and we're building our own house.
:cloud9: :cutie: :cloud9:

Now that sounds nice. How is Delaware for vacations?

Go for it dude! Coastal California is awesome. Of course it's hot inland, it's the freakin desert for gods sake! But thats why people move here. Whats the phrase, oh yea, Fun in the Sun! The reason it's so expensive is basic supply and demand. There's just not enough room for everyone, so real estate is at a premium for sure! But one thing is for sure, you'll never have to shovel snow off your walkway in the Westlake area!:thumbsup2

But.......John1 loves to shovel snow!:rotfl:

So, today was Samantha's ENT appt. Can I just say - I ADORE Dr. Marlowe and staff - they are great! And upon further inspection of his waiting room, his undergrad was ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING from Boston University and then he went on to become a dr......??? I don't get it?

anyway....we had this great PA and he looked, verified the "hole" but stated it was nothing new (he knew this because the edges of the hole were not newly formed). He then looked in her other ear to fnd some sort of something in there......

Ok, so then Dr. M comes in. They - he - thinks the perf is a residul effect from the tubes that just hasn't been noticed...(HELLO PED!) and he'll repair (plug it up) in two weeks. Then he starts the dig in other ear. OMG...he's making jokes, and I am freaking out. 3 seconds pass and he's got it...."MOM, can you come identify?" I had no idea? It looked like a large BB, yet darker in color and broken??!! WILD! She claims nothing has been shoved in her ear, whether she did it or not.....

yet all this time, the only indication was a fever??!!

Amazing! What is a BB by the way?

With mine we had cotton wool up nose and in ear, and a small metal marble up a nose!! Son was brought home by a teacher and he said he had no idea how it got up there, he was just playing with it around his face!!!:lmao: That was 3 hospital visits!!

I have been missing in action. I miss you guys so much.

Funerals, graduations, end of year and trying to get ready for our Med cruise. I am so exhausted.......

I will check in when I can, Ihope everyone is well. If there is anything I should know, if someone could PM me, I would apprecaite it!!

Lisa

Missed you Lisa but you really are busy! Must be fun planning the Med cruise.

Marilyn,

We will be at AKV unless we get moved to BCV.

Karen

So near yet so far!!!:sad2:

I'm not really good with heat, but I am really TERRIBLE when I have to be in humidity!!

SF Bay Area girl. It's more humid in the winter than in the summer!

And I LOVE the coast up here!! Cool and Sunny and Foggy! It's all good!

Karen

I am really uncomfortable with high humidity. I love the dry desert heat though!:)

Not really fond of dry heat either. VERY happy at around 70 to 75 degrees!!

Up too late, lots to do tomorrow, just hard to go to sleep when I just get home from work at 10ish, eat and try to catch up on some DISing!

Have a great day, Marilyn!

Karen

I'm not touching this one....I'm going to let John1 respond!!!

It has some lovely beach towns...Bethany Beach is one, you saw the pics, it's where the clock is that we were going to wave to Lisa on the beach.
:goodvibes :) :goodvibes

Cherie,

Bobby was the mascot of the 12/9/06 DIS Geek cruisers. We had a lot of fun with him. Here is a photo of him being a lush at the wedding reception that was onboard the Magic . . .

He can come on our Med cruise with us....would he like that?? I think I have a spare bedroom at the beach house as well.....just not this weekend!!
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

DH - Ted -6'3" or 4" (he says 6'3", EVERYONE ELSE says 6'4")
DW - Karen - 5'2"
DD - Alex - 5'3" (and growing!! She just passed me up!)

Karen

Don't you hate it when they pass you in height.......

Not sure what the height thing is all about:

Don - DH - 6' tall
Lisa - 5' 8"
Daniel - 6' 2" and still growing
Annie - 5' 5" and really still growing
Gretchen - 4'6" not started her growth spurt yet - second shortest in her class!!

Yup, late night for me because my vacation officially started today after work! :woohoo: One of my lawyers has been gone all week and the other one (the old guy) told me yesterday that he'd be gone tomorrow, so there's no need for me to be there. SO, no getting up early for me tomorrow! :yay: Will spend the day getting my haircut, finishing laundry so I can pack, clean the house really well (because I hate coming home from vacation to a mess), clean out my car so the suitcases will fit (Tyler has a bad habit of bringing lots of stuff in the car and forgetting to take it back in the house), yardwork, and homework for tomorrow's class.

About John and Amy moving.....um....my Magic 8-ball says "Reply hazy. Try again." :rotfl2: (I think I'm getting sleepy again!)

Have a wonderful vacation!! In 7 weeks, I hope to be on the Magic!!

John - the homeowner's is not so bad on newer homes. It so happens ours is the set from the movie "Blast From the Past" (serious - watch it, that is my oven and I LOVE it! hate the kitchen!)

Wow! We are going to watch this!

This is cheap for rent.....in Centreville the cheapest apt is about $2,000 per month...
Downtown DC my niece pays $5,000 for a 4 bedroom....she shares with 3 other girls.....right on Dupont Circle (upscale safer area of DC)

:scared1:  :scared1:

Morning Kids!

Just a quick pop-in....got to go make some egg salad for my lunch and head out to work. It's the last day of a long hard week. Yesterday was a nightmare, mostly due to HOCKEY....please, they were supposed to go to SEVEN games! Geeeeze. So yesterday was spent madly changing Saturday and Monday logs. What fun we had :rolleyes1 Just a little bit of clean up for that today.

Have a great day everybody!

Good morning all! :flower3:

You mentioning hockey reminds me I forgot to buy Tyler's hockey skates and other gear for his hockey class that starts next week! Will have to do that as soon as we get home from Florida. It's the only sport he's shown any lasting interest in. Everything else he tries, he ends up deciding he doesn't like it or gets bored. Tot hockey classes here start at age 4, but he wasn't ready yet with his skating. He's just not coordinated enough, but took the 4 weeks of tot skating class 2 times because he's so determined and loves it so much! Each time we go, he stares longingly at the 4-5 yr old group at the other end of the ice wearing their full hockey gear and practicing stick handling. I'm finally giving in and bumping him up to Tot hockey this time. Actually, I couldn't afford all the stuff earlier, but my mom paid for the actual class for his birthday present, so the money I would have spent for that fee will pay for most of his gear. WOOHOO! :woohoo: I just hate the idea of buying all that stuff for a kid his age because he'll outgrow it before the next session. Will look for used gear to save money. :thumbsup2

Goodness, I'm babbling today!

Are you nearly ready for retiring Laura?

I am ready to buy a house to retire to, and I want it paid off or close to paid off when I retire in 10 years. So I want something I can afford with a 15 year mortgage.

Hmmm going to have to look into that...

Ummm Did you forget about the snowstorm this year in Malibu? We had snow once this year and a hailstorm that was just as bad....

Is Barbie missing any jewelry???

After all of the great pictures of your house and the land around it, the "closeness" of your neighbors in California will be quite a shock!

Karen

You are not kidding about that. Although, if you run out of toilet paper you just reach out your bathroom window and rap on the neighbors bathroom window to have them pass you a roll...:lmao: :rotfl:

Talk to some of the other parents. See if they don't have smaller sizes to sell. I know when my daughter went to private school, lots of parents bought and sold school uniforms because they didn't change and it was way cheaper. May I also recommend you start hitting garage sales, yard sales and thrift stores?

I'll definitely be checking around. But I won't meet any of the parents until the first day. There's a store called Play it Again Sports that sells used sports equipment, so I'll be checking there next week. No time before we leave for vacation tomorrow. This is sort of a last minute decision on Tot Hockey because I couldn't afford it, but my mom paid for the class at the last minute. But I'll definitely be looking everywhere I can for the next size he'll need so we'll be prepared in the future. :thumbsup2

Hate to crunch you, but call it Play It Again Sports and put your name on a list for items so if they come in while you're on vacation, they can hold it for you.
