Well, off to do a quick shower (ran like crazy at work, sweating my you know what off), then class at 6. Then out for Mexican again afterwards. Bad habit....need to stop that! I'm just so addicted to the chips & salsa! Mmmmmmm.......basket of warm tortilla chips calling my name!

I LOVE Mexican.....can be highly addictive. With all the running around at work, you won't need to go to the gym! Have a great night!
 :thumbsup2

We were in Sarasota from 1986 thru 1992. We lived in Bradenton for a couple of years, then bought a house on Siesta Key (on Gleason Ave.) on a tiny canal, but not on the water per se. Sure wish we had kept that house. We sold it when we moved, and now it is worth big bucks. It is just a 3 BR/ 2 bath home, but I think the latest tax assessment had it at $700,000. We bought it for $145,000 in 1988. It would be so wonderful to have that as a vacation home now. :cool2:

Hi Lori, my cousin just bought a house in Bradenton....not sure how much it cost, but they sold the house on Long Island for big $$$$$ and moved down there. I can't wait to go for a visit.
:) :cutie: :)

You bet! All day at work, I remind myself of a hamster running on one of those little wheels. :lmao: But for me, it's back and forth, back and forth, back and forth from one end of our hallway to another. Great exercise, because I literally have to run because I have so much work piled up lately. But I love it because the day goes quicker like that. :goodvibes

(Did I honestly think I'd sit in class without posting here? OK....professor's idle chatter is done. Time to pay attention).

Happy Anniversary Amy and John!!!

and to all the birthday's of everyone I missed....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Deb.... to you and your family....hope that all is on an upward swing. I too have missed your posts!

Thanks Kaylee, that's so nice for you to say....we're ok for now, never know what tomorrow is going to bring. The teen years are the hard ones with all those raging hormones.
:headache: :upsidedow :headache:

Cherie-Happy Birthday!!!!

Deb-welcome back...you were missed!

For those of you with children (even grown ups might like these)-check out these cute neck pillows...they double as a stuffed animal:

Very cute!

Thanks Lisa, I have been reading, but missed posting in on conversations going on. There has been so much to keep up with.

I LOVE those neck pillows they are so adorable. Thanks for sharing.
;) :goodvibes ;)

Eeeewwww indeed! How old were you? I bet it made a lasting impression!

Sounds great!

I have a job getting John to do anything Disney. This trip is my special birthday treat(60th, so more of a compensation really!) He did actually say he didn't want to go to DL right at the beginning, but who knows now?:)

Marilyn, just tell John that after he meets everyone on this cruise and sees what a great time he's having, he won't want to go right home. There's a couple of us on here that are doing DL after cruise, me and John included. Tell him we're sure that he'll want to extend his vaca a little bit to continue having fun with all his new friends. Hopefully it'll work!
:rolleyes1  :rolleyes1

Well there is the chance of a minimeet on 6th/7th Dec!!! We are there from 25th November and going on Wonder 4 nighter on 2nd Dec then back for 4 nights to the 10th. Some others from on here are 6th for the weekend for a meet of their old cruise friends so we are hoping for a minimeet!

I'm so jealous....we're going to miss another minimeet. John and I will be there with the family after our cruise on halloween. We're meeting UKangel in downtown disney for a mini-mini meet. But there's no way we can get back there again one month later at the beginning of Dec. So we're going to miss this one too.....so sad.....
:sad1: :guilty: :sad1:

Tell Deb we miss her and hope all will be well soon with your family.

Noel

Thanks for your sentiments Noel, you know....if it's not problems with the parents, then it's problems with the kids or the grandkids. There's always someone who needs special attention and help from time to time...but that's what families and friends are for....not just the good times, but the bad too. Everyone is good for now, John and I will enjoy it while it lasts!
 :thumbsup2

I'm all in for another Dis meet! Looking forward to the Wine one too (should be try and pick a date?) :thumbsup2 If you guys all want to wait a bit - that's cool too.

Thanks to all people for posting all the links to the various sites. I just thought the tatoo guy was a bit over the top - but HEY - to each his own right?

I also loved the cute critter neck pillows!

Deb - sorry I don't have any advice for a teen - but I do remember being one and it was a hard time for sure. Hormones on top of not knowing what to DO or BE when I grew up. I guess the only advice I have is what I learned from CAMELOT ... (I know - how in the world does that relate). But when King Arthur was asking about how to "handle a woman"? I think the response applies "just love her/him"...

Sometimes we all need extra attention due to a lack of self confidence... I wonder if there is a good method to help build that for him???

Anyway, just wanted to jump on and check things out. Now I need to start dinner - I hear my DH rumbling around the kitchen and that could be scary... (kidding!!!). Remind me to tell you all about the "light in the refrigerator" :scared: story... sometime. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Oh you bad girl.....posting during work when it's slow is one thing, posting during class when you need to pay attention.....bad girl!!!!

Boy, truer words were never spoken!! I can offer you lots of hope with GS as middle DD was much like your GS. We worked it out over time and she turned out to be a terrific wife, mother and daughter. There were times during her teenage years I was not sure what was going to happen with her!! For my money, you guys did ABSOLUTELY the right thing in talking to him in just the way you did!!

Can't wait to hear the "light in the refrigerator" story!! I remember when I spent the summer away from DH caring for my dad, DH lost 25 pounds!! If I am not there to cook, he forgets to eat!!

Thanks Peg, that's what we tried to get across to him last night. We love you and want you to be happy. Hope it worked. It IS such a hard age.

Sometimes we all need extra attention due to a lack of self confidence... I wonder if there is a good method to help build that for him???

That's why his parents got him involved in lots of activities that he says he likes doing....hoping to build that self confidence. It just doesn't seem to have worked for him. He says kids pick on him at school too. Even though it's wrong, it's pretty normal, but it's really hard on him. We can't control that and he says if he tells a teacher, he'll just get beat up after school. Can't wait until they outgrow the teen years!

Would love to hear that story! :thumbsup2

Hello, I have been around keeping up with the reading, but not posting much. I have been very busy trying to reorganize our schools PTA. Basically we have not had a PTA group since 1996, and It has been a challenge. It was only been two lady managing 2 fundraiser a year and its money. I felt it was time for a change and to bring back family activies within our school that have been lacking. We started a move night and it as be very sucessful. We are starting to see more parent involvement . I am defiantly going to need this cruise next year.

Question, I need a new TA, can anyone recommend a good one? My TA had canceled the wrong ressi, when I went to check on my ressi May 10th cruise It was gone. I almost lost my ressi for this cruise, but because Of my quick action and speaking with DCL manager, I was able to salvage my ressi.

Got to run, our daughters school is having celebration of the Arts. tonight,:wizard:

Thanks, now I know there's hope yet....I know he'll be a great young man one day, the sensitive type usually are....but getting through the teen years will seem like decades long with him. I think we'll have to continue to do our group support thing with him many more times. He just seems to need it more than his brother does. How individually different they are. It just teaches you that you can't raise your kids equally the same. You have to be aware of their individual strengths and weaknesses and work with that.

WHOOOO HOOOOOO!!

So we are going to see Pirates tomorrow night as a family and then Saturday night my mom is coming to babysit for date night and we're going to see Shrek 3.....

I know, I know, backwards and AWFUL parenting. BUT, the girls chose Pirates....(we asked ----- Samantha YELLED Pirates and Haley YELLED AAAAARRRRRR!) And we damaged them enough by subjecting them to the second on opening night how much worse could they turn out?

DH is at his game and I just got through watching So You Think You Can Dance and trying to get through a few chapters of the study guide for the HFMA certification.....(healthcare financial mgmt)
