We were in Oxford I think in '98. Here is his law firm's website - www.qwcooper.com . He has some clients here in CA, Chicago, and I think one back East. He doesn't like me sharing his website yet b/c he hasn't worked on it, but it explains best his type of law.

So funny your DH was at Oxford too! Did you go with him? I had the time of my life. I worked double shifts as a nurse for about a year to take the 6 months off. It was so wonderful. Lisa

looks like Paul and your DH do alot of the same kind of law. Paul has worked on his own since 2001, worked in house prior to that. He went to Santa Clara Law School. Where did DH get his degree? Paul did his Oxford study before we met. He told me he was there in '89. Finished law school '91, we met right after he passed the bar. From his stories he tells it was a great time, wish I had known him then, but alas I was hopping around from start-up to start-up in Silicon Valley then on my own.

Lisa,

I had not heard of them till your post so I pulled up their website. Lovely site and label so I will check them out and see about giving their wines a try! (So many wines, so little time!)

Thanks for the input!!

Karen

I thought it looked interesting also. I'm going to give their wine a try! When you do try it, I'd be curious to hear your opinion!

got a call of from my desperate housewife friend...looks like I'm out for Chinese food tonight, DH and the kids are home for chili. How sad is it that as soon as I hung up from making the plan to go out I realized I'd rather stay home with chili & the family...ok not sad, just desperate housewife on the other end of the spectrum. oh well, a night out isn't a bad thing...see ya later gators.popcorn::

quiet night.....on the DIS~!

I just finished up Vanishing Act by the same author as My Sister's Keeper....good but did not reduce me to tears as the other one. I do like this author though.

Played a couple hands of poker with our Gator deck and watched Forensic Files on the last couple chapters. Annoyed DH to no end. The girls are watching Shrek2 quietly and I popped on here for a minute.

We are supposed to have a rash of storms through the night. It hit Texas and from the newscast..my word - a mess! I am hoping we don't lose power....

sun came out...we're still watching movies. We have ended up on Flyboys, had to watch it as it's due tomorrow.

we're having chili for dinner tonight, think I might need a merlot to go along with that, karen any suggestions?

DH has also been the :laundy: king today. I think it's been at least 4 loads so far. Boy I married the right guy. :cloud9:

Nan,

As long as it's a big Merlot, it should be OK. We typically put Zinfandel or Syrah with Chili (or beer...)

Enjoy!!

Karen

Well, it's another dreary chilly day here, sure wish the warmer weather and sunshine would hurry up and get here.
It's only 5 weeks from today until my DD's wedding  That means I only have 5 more weeks to find shoes:scared1: No time to shop today, I'm going to my MIL's 80th birthday party this afternoon, and then on to a shower for my DD. Tomorrow, it's off to work again, so looks like another busy weekend.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and keeps well .

Weddings are so wonerful!! The next 5 weeks will be so exciting!!

John1, Dennis got the horns he ordered for the RV, got them put in, I found a copy of the ship's horn from CD DCL sent out on the web (ours was broken when it arrived), we got it recorded and he is working on getting the recording on the horns now! :woohoo: What fun it will be to blow that horn as we pull out! :cool1:

There is NEVER enough banana talk . . .

Good morning. Nice event last night, and Amy did a good job with the auction. What did we get? More Indians tickets! One night as guests in a suite for 2, and 4 tickets right by 3rd base with terrace club (the restuarant at Jacob's field) passes.

Sounds like some great purchases! I have always wanted to watch a Seahawks game in a suite. They are something like 7000.00 per game (seat 20 I think)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, my 50.00 seats seem to be much more reasonable. I can dream though. Maybe some day I will find them at an auction. Did the event raise a lot of money? I bet Amy was exhausted when it was all over.

Okay, I'm just going to jump in here. :goodvibes
Things are quiet now. The boys are outside with DH burning a fire of old files. Someday, my office will be in order and I will have time to organize.

It sounds like there are a lot of wine drinkers in here. Is there such a thing as a nitrate free wine? I'm allergic to the nitrates found in most wine.

Well, you all have a good night.

This last time when we flew SW, we had 3 loud and rambunctious kids in the three seats in front of us. As people started to board, we figured out that mom placed herself one row ahead, across the aisle from them, and was blabbing on the cell phone oblivious to their fighting, etc. and Dad was one row back across the aisle in the window seat (where he could exert absolutely no control over said rowdy kids. When they got on, there were plenty of seats for them to sit closer.

In dad's row, another man had sat on the aisle seat, so they had the center seat open. Dad looked very comfortable. Well, they started saying it was a full flight, and before we pushed back, a very large (even by my standards) man came up the aisle, sweating profusely (probably from running to get to the plane), and the ONLY empty seat was that center seat. I thought to myself, there is some justice in the world, as the dad of rowdy kids got a wet plastering to his window seat.

:thumbsup2 Love it when justice is served!
:scared1: Shopping all day would be my biggest nightmare! I've always hated shopping, so my mom used to trick me to get me to go with her. :rotfl:

I LOVE to shop (and so do my girls):cool1: We had a blast. Spent a bit too much money but had so much fun. Nordies was having a Heelies event and DD1 convinced my mom that she should buy her a pair for her early bday present (bday is in June). She is certain they are going to be perfect for WDW in a few weeks. Does anyone know if the parks even allow them? Bought a very cute new pair of shoes:banana: John...I'll have to find a picture of them so I can post them for you to see.:lmao:

The new "in" thing in California is "Mobile Pet Grooming". They come to your home and wash and groom your pet in a mobile van!

We have a cat, so she does her own grooming!;)

Karen

We love our mobile groomer. I think she charges $40.00 per visit, but when 'Ohana (my chinook) is "blowing" her winter coat, it is so worth it to not have hair everywhere for a few weeks. 'Ohana is a very skittish dog and doesn't like to walk on tile floors so most groomers are out of the question, unless I want to carry her 80# over to the table where she will sit and shake. She likes the groomers trailer and doesn't mind getting bathed there.

Hope everyone had a great Saturday. I need to hit the 300.00store tomorrow, UGH! And then get everything ready for the girls to head back to school after their spring break. Have a great night.

Angie, that will be so cool!:cool1:

Back from Blacksburg. It was raining and cold...but such a beautiful campus.

For all of my CA friends...there were 5 families from CA that flew in for the weekend to figure out if their children want to attend Tech. That really surpirsed me.

Kids could attend today or tomorrow. Today's group had 2,100 families. They said 85% of those kids have not made up their mind yet. That really surprised me as well. 600 families from VA and the rest are out of state. Tech is a great value. For in-state, $12,000 per year Room, Board and Tuition. Out of state is about $27,000.

They got 20,000 applications and offered admissions to 12,000. Of those 12,000 they think 5,000 will come.

It was a very well run event. First session was for all incoming freshman. (2,100 kids) Then it was an event for all business students. (300 kids) Then lunch and a tour. Next was the specific major meetings. Daniel is interested in Accounting and Information Sciences. (about 10 kids) then off to a meeting for a minor you might be interested in. Daniel thinks he wants a Global studies minor. He will need to spend time out of the USA studing, if he wants to do this.

Julie, he has researched Universities and he think he liks Monterry Tech in Mexico. Not sure about all of this....maybe you know something about this university??

All in all we had a very nice time. We love to spend time together and why we are on this cruise together.

Oh yes, car is still broken and in the same place about 1 hour from our house. My DH said that is a Monday job.

My kids want this for their bikes!!

John and I want to spend one day at the aquarium after we get off this cruise. We'll do a week in LA then fly home. We'll take one day and go to San Diego. How long did you spend at the aquarium? Is it in Poway? We have cruise friends that moved from Poway to Tucson. I can't wait to see the area.

Hope the weather continues to be nice for you, enjoy your trip.
:flower3:

Deb...There's a newish aquarium in Long Beach (MUCH closer to LA). Haven't been, but I think it's called the Aquarium of the Pacific. There is a small aquarium at UCSD in the La Jolla area, the Birch Aquarium. Don't know where Cheri went...(we love the moon jellies at the Birch)...

Don't be alarmed if you don't see me here until Monday. Everybody enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll be spending Monday evening getting caught up on all your adventures after Tyler goes to bed. Unless I have nothing better to do at work Monday, but I suspect I'll have a busy day there because one secretary is on vacation until Tuesday and her attorney are workaholics over the weekends usually. Might try to catch up a little with you all before my work day starts Monday morning. :thumbsup2

Bye for a couple days!

We'll miss you Holly! Have a good DIS holiday.

well....did a few more loads...added some acid to the pool and cleaned out the various leaf catchers....I think we are headed in there in a bit. It is a gorgoues 90 degree day. The girls have managed to drive me nuts all day, not help do anything and really frustrate me beyond belief. I seem to have such a short fuse these days.

Can you believe it was SNOWING here tonight!

JEESH - can we have some Spring already!

:cool1:

Angie - I want to see a video of this!

Amy was exhausted. I think she will be waiting to find out how much they earned. I have been a guest in a suite several times from some vendors and law firms we deal with. We don't get the whole suite on this, just two tickets.
