Update on the house...

Thank you to all for the pixie dust....the house was not sold today at auction:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cool1:
We still need to wait and hear what the bank is going to do, but for right now we are set. We will head to auction on June 29th and hopefully the house will be ours:love: ! We went there today and walked around, boy has it fallen apart in the last 6 months. It needs lots of TLC now, but we are ready, willing and able!!!! I'll keep you all informed.

I don't understand things, but so glad it seems to be working out in your favour.

My DH's dad (who passed away when he was 18) is from England. He was orphaned at age 12, his aunt & uncle brought him up. I have his aunt's diamond as my wedding ring. He went to boarding school in Devonshire. When DH went to law school, I insisted he sign up for one of those study abroad programs. We fly into Athens, took a 14-day cruise around the Holy Land, ended in Rome and then spent 6 weeks taking the train up to England where he studied at Oxford for 3 months. All before kids. I have the best memories of taking day trips, week-end trips. all over England, Wales, and Scotland. Have never made it to Ireland yet. Since then, we have gone back a few times to visit our "old haunts." Just love it. My latest dream is to take First class on Virgin over - that looks like it would be so wonderful!
Lisa

That sounds a great trip. You certainly visited loads of great places and probably saw many away from the normal tourist spots too.

It was a very nice day, we did lunch after the appointment. Mom weighed 115 one week ago and today weighed 103. Not good. But the doctor caught it, thinks it's bacterial and gave her an antibiotic. Then we did lunch and made her eat. Thanks for asking. We're keeping her under close watch and hopefully can avoid the hospital trip this time.

It's good that was caught early and you can keep an eye on her too.

Pixie Dust works wonders! The bank has decided to basically run the 2nd at auction every week until June 29:scared1: In forclosure auctions, if the 1st goes to auction, the 2nd just disappears. The same bank owns both and they don't want to lose the 150,000 they have out there in the 2nd so they will just keep trying. We know most people who go to these auctions and they have all told us they won't bid on it. They know we want this one as a residence and not a "flip" house. So, just a few more months and we will finally have an answer one way or another....I am hoping for the best answer....we got the house!

Very complicated but it sounds so promising.:)

We had this at a friend's house the other night and it was VERY yummy. The hostess (who happens to be my best friend from high school....25 years) liked it so much she kept the decorative box it came in so she could get more!

Hi Lisa, I know Karen already said she was going to have this as part of our champagne tasting. What do you think of the idea of having two champagne tastings....one for the girls only....and another one with the lost beer boys?:cool2: :rolleyes1

Sounds like a great flight:scared1:
I remember flying once when I was 7 or 8. My mom put me on the plane and I was flying down to Sarasota to see my grandmother and (of course) go to WDW. Somehow I got placed in a middle seat in the smoking section :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Remember when they used to allow smoking on planes?? Ugh, I thought I might never be able to breathe again. It was one of the worst flights ever.

Your post makes me think.....I used to fly alone too, at about the same age as you (my parents were divorced--Dad was still in NY and mom and I moved to TX). I flew alone all the time (Eastern Airlines...there's a blast from the past), yet my DS is 8, almost 9 and the thought of putting him on an airplane alone cannot even enter my mind. I guess in those times we were more trusting or the world wasn't as scary? Of course, my mom walked me onto the plane and handed me over to the stewardess (as they were called them) and my dad met me at the gate with 9-11 security stuff, I doubt they'd let parents do that today.

Not Cheri, obviously, but we were in a mess, too. Interstate 10 coming into Riverside county and climbing the hills between Indio and Temecula (hwy 74/79 areas) were REALLY windy. Clouds were just zooming across the sky!

Carolyn

I was on I10 until I got off on the 60 to Riverside, then went south on 215. Actually, the bad weather started between Quartzite & Blythe and continued until I started going south on 215.

I couldn't believe how dirty my car was!

Great idea...I know I'll be at the girl's one for sure because...."girl's just wanna have fun"! :cool1:

Have fun Holly.
BTW, am I the only one that attempts to get caught up by reading the last post then reading backwards? Banana talk :confused3  Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't stop here...but of course I'm continuing back to see what I've missed ;)

Kathe

I've tried that, but I get really confused!!!:upsidedow

Cheri...you must have drove through Murrieta/Temecula then, because the 215 runs right through us!

Hi Cheri, Sassy Bubbles, Jeep Mate....Are you just catching up and joining us tonight?:)

Hi Deb,
Yes, I'm just catching up--let's see, 14 pages X 3 min.....but I'm almost there! I had a good time at the aquarium today. The weather is beautiful! We went to see The Hoax tonight (Richard Gere). Very interesting movie--Clifford Irving, what an amazing liar he was (probably still is?). More good times await tomorrow.
Night all!:goodvibes

OMG! Isn't it amazing what we were subjected to??? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I remember very clearly the first time I was on a plane with a non-smoking section--it was 1971. I wrote a letter to the airline after the flight thanking them.

I figured that part of the knowledge we gain in college is learning how to get thru a large system (i.e. the University itself) I'm glad I learned the hardway...on my own as it has made me a person that can be very persitent when necessary.

Excellent point! I agree!

Yes, I remember seeing the exits for those places. It was the first time I've driven that route (S on 215)--nice drive, pretty area. I'm staying in the Poway area. Never been to this part of SD area before--actually, it's been at least 10 years since I was last here at all. I've made many trips to Anaheim/LA in the last few years, but not down this way. It's really a lovely place! I'll be here until at least Tues.:goodvibes

Good Morning Marilyn, it's early for you over there isn't it?

Good morning. Yes I was awake at 6.15am, which is a pain on a Saturday!!! Anyway I have just read some trip reports so it was an enjoyable way to spend the time!!!:)

Off to get some breakfast now - cappuccino and some seeded bread toast and marmalade!!! Mmmm!:)

Karen...
you still on? We went out to dinner tonight and I had a marvelous sparkling wine...Moet & Chandoen Blush, I think that was the name. Have you ever heard of it?

Yes, I love the Moet and Chandon Champagnes. The blush is one of the better dry champagnes. The White Star is one of my favorites!

Boy, lot's of posts in just a couple of hours! We watched "Happy Feet" for our Friday movien night. Great Flick! Really excellent animation and story. Really wonderful soundtrack that I MUST pick up!!

Still catching up now that the DIS is back!

Karen

Love all three also. They just opened a Coldwater Creek store near my house...so excited!!

Karen-what do you know of Waugh Cellars in Napa? I just watched "Take Home Chef" with Curtis Stone (he's the one that finds you in the grocery store shopping and then offers to cook and show you how to cook a meal at home for you and loved ones)....the couple that were on were the owners of Waugh Cellars. They took him to the winery....it looked like a great winery (small) and Curtis seemed to really enjoy their wines. Just thought I'd get your input if you happen to have one!

Lisa,

I had not heard of them till your post so I pulled up their website. Lovely site and label so I will check them out and see about giving their wines a try! (So many wines, so little time!)

Thanks for the input!!

Karen

Time passes so quickly, your day is right around the corner and I believe if it's meant to be it will happen because I always believe that things happen for a reason....I LOVE John Lennon and to quote him in one of my favorite songs...."Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." It's always so true. You have to make plans, but the eventual outcome is always way better than you imagined.

Deb,

As always, an excellent outlook on life!! I am also a fan of that song!!:hippie:

Karen

You will appreciate this story. The first time we flew Southwest with youngest DD, she turned to me and said, why are we going to the back of the plane?

As for smooshed, when my DH's father passed away suddenly, we had to catch a flight to Ohio. We were able to get great seats going to Ohio but on the way home we had to fly from Cleveland to Chicago to make a connection.
I was stuck in between two very large Mafia looking men who had the arm rests up. I could not even get more than my bottom cheek on the seat and could not even buckle the seat belt. They were so threatening looking that the flight attendent didn't even hassle me about not buckling my seat belt. Luckily, it was only a half hour flight!!

EEWWWWWW :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

DH is 6'4" and really NEEDS the extra space. DD is also a spoiled kid that is always thrilled with first class and appalled at anything else!

Her favorite line is "are we in concierge?"
