ok, the Carlin Kitchen is closed......another load of laundry done and the girls tiles they painted for my mom are drying. We watched the new Tigger and Pooh show on TDC and I liked it....I have to admit I have been humming the show tune all week waiting for the premier. It is quite catchy!

After reading the live reports on WDW I am getting a bit worried about the crowds....it seems busy!

Love those kind of dinners!!!:lmao: Hard to eat that way when the kids are around though...one time we were coming home from a long road trip and drove by a Krispy Kreme with the HOT sign on! DH looked at the girls and asked if they wanted donuts for dinner?! Of course they said yes and we had a blast (chocolate milk was the protein:lmao: ). They still talk about that night.

My dinner last night......escargot, french onion soup (both excellent) and flounder (pretty dry and blah) oh and mickey head cheese crackers for dessert!

I had Chefs booked for Friday night but had to change to Kona as my dad is checking in Fri night for the triathlon and doesn't want to waste park tickets for a meal...I haven't eaten at Chef's since I was little with my Grandfather....hopefully we'll try it on another trip.:yay:

Your dinner sounds similar to my gigantic chocolate covered strawberry I had last night! Yup, it was my dinner! :rotfl2:

Yummy! I'm looking forward to my traditional Disneyland chocolate covered strawberries...THIS year they will be enjoyed with a bottle of Banfi and shared with Cheri! :thumbsup2

I'd just like to say sometimes community associations can be a pain in the patooty! The block wall that is between ours and the community to the north has been a bone of contention for a zillion years. Finally the four homeowners (two on each side, I'm one) are just getting the blasted thing repaired and sharing the cost. NONE of us should be having to pay for it, carnflabbit! (OK, I know if the association payed for it, in a sense I still would be....but one 60th instead of one 4th!)

Welll, I think it's time to call and check in on my big sister in Chicago....things have been very quiet from that part of the country lately.

Are you watching the Golden State / Utah game?? :happytv:

Parents were there...had a blast. My mom is so excited about spending mother's day with the Warrior's! This is my mom: :cheer2: She was a pom-pom girl for University of Minnesota way back when. She is a BIG sports fan. I often wonder if she had to chose between her sports or her family....it would be tough choice!

I was also the oldest in my family, and the first to go to college . . . I had no one to mentor me, or be a role model for what I was doing.

At the time to me it was normal - only now do I know what I missed.

Of course, that is why I can now retire from this job with 30 years too . . .

Gosh, I guess you missed out on some things like a frat party or two but I just think of all that you gained! What a hard road it must have been. And all that you accomplished! I am sure there are many people out there that got the college experience but didn't apply themselves...they would most likely trade places with you in a heart beat! Also, trust me...there are plenty of those parties I just a soon forget!
I imagine you have many people proud of you.
Lisa

Again, same with me! Well, almost. I wasn't the oldest, but was the only (except steps, but they didn't go to college). Neither of my parents when to college and my stepmom dropped out of school after 8th grade. :sad2:

Well, what I said about John goes ditto for you! So impressed. You really deserve this cruise! Lisa

.

What I really want to do is write, but, I think some other field of law is safer with a kid going to med school and another one in first grade.

My DH oftens talks about wishing he could quit law and become a writer! You two will have a lot to talk about on the cruise.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!! It seems so much closer now that we passed the one year mark! Lisa

Oh some of my favorites on there!

Here's something cool....I won an MVP award at work this week and one of the prizes is dinner for two. When my department head asked me which restaurant I would like a gift certificate from I jokingly said "Napa Rose at Disneyland". So, guess what...I'm getting a Disney gift card to bring with me next week! :cool1: So I'll be using that to probably cover three dinners for me on the trip (I think it's $100, maybe $150).

You kids sure were chatty last night!

Congratulations:cool1: :cool1: What a great bonus. It's nice when your employer know you likes. I once got a unexpected bonus that was given to me in Disney Dollars.:thumbsup2

G-I know what you're saying about the "good ole boys" club. I worked with the US Navy for 12 years during my aerospace contract management days. Talk about the good ole boys club! Most times I was the only woman in the room of about 100 men, not sure how I made it but I did. It was tough but it wasn't all bad...there were funny times too. I'll NEVER forget the time I was in the middle of a negotiation for a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract for spare parts for the flight control system on the F/A-18 fighter jet. I had a new dress on that buttoned up the front and the buttons were metal. I was unhappy with an offer they gave me and I took a very deep breath. Well, one of the buttons popped off, shot across the room and smacked the negotiator in the FACE! :scared1: But worse, my chest and, ahem, undergarment were exposed (fortunately, it was back in my skinny days, so hopefully it wasn't too awful). I thought I was going to die. I then uncrossed my legs and the bottom button did the same thing!! What I later learned was the metal buttons had very rough edges and with every breath and movement I made, they were slowly breaking the thread that was holding them on the dress. I was moments away from having ALL the buttons popping off. Needless to say, I did the rest of the negotiation wrapped up in my raincoat but it was clear the Navy negotiators had sorta lost focus! That was perhaps my most embarassing (and funny) moment!

You have to finish the story Lisa, did that help or hurt the negotiations?
:rotfl2:

That was a FUN game to watch. I bet they had a BLAST. Did they have their yellow shirts on?

Hey, John Grisham did it, why NOT us?

Nothing impressive. Just doing what's required to get a job other than burger flipping nowadays. :rotfl2: ;)

Well I am wide awake at 1.20 am!!! I had a dream that woke me and now I am well and truly awake.

Please join me praying for the safe return of a little 3 year old girl Maddy who was abducted from her hotel bedroom whilst on holiday in Portugal with her parents and 2 year old twin brother and sister one week ago. It has been heartbreaking this week watching the news reports. Tonight the film of her mother showed a gaunt, numb looking woman - so upsetting.

This is on my mind - it is just dreadful.

Yes, it is dreadful. The family and Maddy have been in my prayers. Everyone remember to keep close track of your little ones (and big ones) wherever you are. And everyone please look after all kids, even if not yours, and be ready to step in whenever you suspect a problem. We need to look out for each other.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Great hearing about all your fun . . . we love shows AND rides, but even if you are not really show people, if you get a chance to see the new Nemo show at AK, it is awesome, and even for people who are not normally into shows, I think they would enjoy it!

Hi John,

I agree. The Nemo show IS awesome.

Speaking of awesome, I had lunch at the Greek Cuisina yesterday, in Portland. THAT was awesome too. The Greek Platter there is great. Come on over this way and I'll buy lunch.

I just had lunch, how about dinner?

I'll head right over . . .

Or bagging groceries . . .

As I sit and I hire people who have little or no skills day after day, I wonder to myself what they are going to do with their lives?

Then I think about those people I do NOT hire and I get scared!:scared1:

Dr. Hug! Where have you been! I need a man for my cousin just like you. Got any eligible grandsons in the 25-30 range?

Hi Kim  ,

You flatterer you. :) I don't. My son, and all of the nephews are taken. Alas, Korey is too young. He is a great kid though. There are still a few "knights" out there though. ;) So we will keep an eye out for her princess:.
