Well as of today I am going to the Philippines on Feb.9th and returning on Feb 28th. I will be going back sometime in late March.

Like John said I am both excited and reluctant. It can be a dangerous place but I have to believe that GE will do it's best to keep me safe, although in December someone from our office was there and a tank ran into the hotel they were staying in. It was an attempted Govt. overthrow.... She had to be evacuated to a hotel near the embassy and came home early...

I will be going with another person so there will be two of us that is a good thing.

Be safe but have a great time.

Man, all the pictures have been fun to see tonight. Those Hannah M. pics are too cute for words! It is pouring here tonight from Santa Barbara to San Diego and our mountains are covered in snow.

I can't do laundry on the boat as I am allergic to laundry detergent. The left over in the machines also hurts me. So we have to pack 18nights worth of clothes each!!!:scared1:

House Party has still not responded to me. This is aggravating.

Ok now the sad new: My dad has cancer and my DM's best friend has Lukemea. :sad2: They told DM's friend there was a 90% chance of remission and she is in the early stages.

Amy,

Be safe, I hope that you get to see a little of the country while you are there and that the work is not all consuming.

Hugs Pj

OMG - Amber had a "big" meeting today - her area of GE is really expanding....maybe I need to be hired as a body guard for you.

Aw, that's so cute! Is he nervous?

Let's put it this way, it takes an exsmoker not a nonsmoker to help someone quit. They just understand and relate better. Some of it was positive and some of it just turned me off and I wanted to smoke. I would give it mixed reviews.

That makes sense to me. Only someone who's walked in your shoes knows best how it feels and how to overcome!!!

so - girls night out.

We went to Olive Garden....both the girls choice. There was a 20 minute wait - it is season.

We were seated in the back and our waiter was horrible. Brought us bread and no plates....the girls both had chicken with broccoli and I was going to only get salad but felt compelled to order an appetizer as well to not be chaep....calamari, which the girls devoured.

Well - he was crappy, but every table around was filled with really old people (nothing against old people, I will be there one day)....who were complaining....loudly, one group of 5 were in a booth - then moved to a circular table then decided it was too loud and wanted to move back but there was another party there. They started to get upset. Another party was complaining because the lemon in their iced tea had seeds which got into the drinks.....it was just ---- wow.

I think he kind of lumped us in and just didn't think about us, anyway I had two wines the girls both had a meal, I had salad and an appetizer.
Anyway, he brings the bill, charges me for one wine, and the kids meal and that is it. He said he has never seen kids eat more broccoli than chicken and gave the girls kudos for that.

As he left the bill and went to wait on another table I heard someone complaining to him and asking to speak to a manager. Not that I have all that extra cash or anything but I left him a $25 tip - and our bill was less than that. I hope he doesn't have to tip out and he'll have a better day tomorrow.

ETA -- I should not say old people --- this could be anyone, it was people that there was no pleasing no matter what.

Bless you, V! I know he appreciated not only the $, but the statement you were making that you understood what he was dealing with. DD used to work at OG and hated it. Ran her buns off getting refills of bread, salad and then small tips from those who demanded the most.

Wow Amy--be careful! Hope they're giving you hazard pay!!! (Like in the military.)

V-how funny, I had a similiar thing happen at the OG here in CA. Mark was out of town and I took the boys there about a month ago. I had soup and salad, boys had pasta and salad. The waitress went on break shortly taking our order, her fill-in was AWFUL! It took forever for everything to come, no plates for the bread, no refills on the beverages, etc. She returned towards the end of our meal and she commented on how well behaved and mannered the boys were. When I got the bill she only charged me for the soup, but as an add on to an entree so it was $3 and she didn't charge me for my drink. I asked her if it was correct and she smiled nicely at me and said "I'm very sure". So I left her a tip that was twice the bill!

I'm sitting here listening to the rain outside and loving it!!!

Michelle I did aunty duty for 90+ on my December cruise in '06. It was great, one of the young men, about 10, would show up each morning to have breakfast and each morning, would just say hi, sit, eat and "see ya tomorrow" when he was done, too cute.

Do you think we can sneak into the Clubs with all the kids we adopt???

Deb - loved Alivin Ailey's stuff, had several classmates that were accepted into the school ----

My mom has taken me to Alvin Ailey's shows every year since i can remember...she has one show that is her favorite and she has seen multiple times. It starts with an R I think. I can't remember, I just go along.....

Michelle, I am heading to see the clubs this time, during the open house times, I have never seen the inside, it will be a great first during this cruise. Have to do something new each time.
