Ok, when I asked about iPods, I had another point to it . . . we did this on our other thread, and it was fun to see what turned up . . . If you have an iPod, put it on "shuffle" and list the first ten songs that come up on your iPod.

Here are mine . . .

1. Leader of the Band - Dan Fogleberg
2. Island Girl - Elton John
3. Lipstick Vogue - Elvis Costello
4. Summer Sunshine - The Corrs
5. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Da - Jim Brickman
6. Sweet Talkin' Woman - Electric Light Orchestra
7. I want You (She's So Heavy) - The Beatles
8. A Moment Lost - Enya
9. Honky Tonk Women - The Rolling Stones
10. I Fought the Law - Green Day

I have 2,149 items in my Music Library - 5.3 days worth of music!

Mine are very random....

1. Let U go- Ashley Parker Angel
2. Bad Medicine- Bon Jovi
3. Aint no other man-christina aguilera
4. Mr. Jones- counting crows
5.Not ready to make nice- dixie chicks
6. Jimmy buffet & Martina McBride- Trip around the sun
7. Two out of three ain't bad- Meatloaf
8. Forever in blue jeans - Neil Diamond
9. If you like coconuts- Jimmy Buffet
10. Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol

Wow, could that list be more random?

First job....busgirl at a local restaurant. It was a greasy spoon, but some great seafood! Grew up on the Long Island Sound in CT and it was quite a popular spot.

WHAT is your DH thinking?? How in the world can you keep up with it if it is out of sight? Does he not realize that merely having proper piles of photos and memory items is an indication of progress? Did Michelangelo paint the Sistene Chapel? I think not! Just plain unreasonable. Let me know if you want me to talk to him.
Lisa

Lisa, are you for hire, perhaps for an as needed consultant to talk to our husbands about our piles of scrap crap? You'd need to be availble 24/7, or at least when we (or they) or you least expect it right???? isn't that always when you have to defend the useless obession that we call a hobby....:lmao:

Well, here I am again, perfect timing and all by myself . . .

I went over to the other side to try and find where they were making fun of us, but I could not find it. I was going to go over and tease them a bit. PJ, you and I both have 11 posts over there - someone daily updates how many posts everyone has.

Maybe we should all pick a day and time and ALL go over there and post like we are posting on our own thread. We can tell them we are just being neighborly and trying to help them out in what matters most!

Love this idea

Hope you guys are having a super Saturday night!

Question for today . . . How many of you have pets, and what kind?

We have a dog (Labradoodle - 1/2 lab and 1/2 poodle, chocolate colored), four tropical fish, and two hermit crabs.

2 dogs, Casey almost 15 years old, black & white border collie & Jenny Rose 8 years old, red & white border collie/kelpie

1 red ear silder turtle named Crush (who is as we speak getting a new tank...60 gallon tank with a sunken Flying Dutchman (megablock) ship in the wet side....pictures will follow when complete)

1 mini lop bun-bun we call her Polly Bun-Bun, she is hmmmmm 3 or 5 years old, I need to scrap that to remember it huh? We got her from my son's preschool, so new her from babyhood, but can't place the exact year tonight.

Our pets run our lives....and becuase of that we are very happy.

I'll ask DH to give me this list tomorrow...it would be techno hard for me to get up from my Dising and go to the kitchen and figure this out. (Can you say LAZY) :surfweb: :rotfl2:

Not sure how to answer. 2? Maybe none? See we have one pet that lives with another family and another pet that is not living but is in our house.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my story. I thought I'd share it as it is - which is a bit sad, a bit funny, and maybe just a little bit weird.
Lisa

Lisa, you are my kind of mom. Sometimes doing the right thing is the weird or strange thing. I'm convinced that will make your children grown into great adults and good parents too :goodvibes

Side note...a bit strange and I hope not to offend also. My first pet as an adult, my first baby, another border collie, is the name sake of my DD (or the other way around) Her name was Cowdog, nicknamed Molly Moo Cow...we lost her suddenly in August '96 at 10 years old, Molly was conceived unexpectedly October '96 (just 6 weeks before our wedding)...I believe that there was some soul swaping going on in heaven. Miss Molly was named after Cowdog. They had/have the same beautiful red fur/hair and the same gentle sweet loving heart. (9 years later I'm sitting here crying over my missing of my sweet dog) In my mind's eye Cow is running in the hills in Jackson Hole, WY at a place we call Howling Dog Tree. In reality Molly is sitting next to me (yikees its after 10:30 pm here) laughing over cartoons. Life is good :goodvibes

nite all.

Not sure how to answer. 2? Maybe none? See we have one pet that lives with another family and another pet that is not living but is in our house.

THE STORY:
When we moved, our neighbor adopted our indoor/outdoor cat because our new home has wicked racoons. We visit often - we miss him a lot. Had him before the kids. He is a Ragdoll, 14 years old. The move would have killed him so we did what was best but it was sad.:sad2: So that is the pet that doesn't live with us.

Our pet that is not living but is in our house: When we move, we did bring our other Ragdoll cat as she was indoor cat- beautiful white mitted Kimba. She died quite suddenly from a stroke in December. It was really hard - we did all the tests - C-SCAN, MRI, started IV medication. Nothing worked. Very sad. :sad1:

The kids wanted her ashes but life had been so hectic (we had the cruise in January, work crazy, etc) we couldn't get around to picking them/her up. It was so sad and somewhat humerous - every night the kids would pray that Kimba was safe and that her ashes would be home soon. And I would be like OOPS. So at night I would keep telling myself tomorrow I will for sure go back to the pet hospital and pick her up. The morning would come, dropping the kids off at school, going to work, this thing and that thing. Next thing I know it is night time again and the same gosh darn prayer. OOPS again. Felt like such a terrible mom. So anyway, we FINALLY picked her up on Thursday 2 months later and now she has a spot upstairs right in the hallway in a nook right outside the boys' rooms. The kids just love having her - it is somewhat weird. Jack wants to take her to show and tell and I think the proper answer is no.

Sorry if I offended anyone with my story. I thought I'd share it as it is - which is a bit sad, a bit funny, and maybe just a little bit weird.
Lisa

Not a offensive story at all. Before dh and I got married we adopted a dog (our first baby) and the deal was...whoever did the breaking up, the other one got the dog. So, we always joke that we got married cuz neither of us watned to give up Sucia! ;) Anyway, long story short, after spending lots of money on meds, surgeries etc, we lost her on DH's birthday about 4 years ago (she was only 7). We had a camping trip planned for the next week and we were having such a hard time deciding what to do, because the last 2 days we were spending in one of our condos in Ocean Shores and dogs aren't allowed. She loved to camp and we felt so guilty at the thought of leaving her home. We picked up her ashes on the way, and she got to go camping with us and spend the 2 nights in the condo! Her ashes still sit in a box on our hutch.

Hey, I just noticed I am no longer "earning my ears" ! and am now a mouseketeer! :cool1:

Well, anyway, off to bed. Will catch up on limo stuff again tomorrow.

Have a good night to those not yet on (Karen?! :)) and morning to those just getting up.

We have 2 cats:
1.Chrissy is from a shelter they found her as a feral cat at 10 weeks old, she is now 7months and 9.5lbs. Looks like a Maine Coon She is my baby

2. KMX Dh found DH at work, he works by the interstate and a busy road/shopping complex, no homes around. He brought her home and she never left. 9.5lbs and 1yr.Cute! DH's baby They are both indoor.

We also have 2 dogs:
1)Snoopy is from a shelter, she was abused. They told us she was a beagle and wouldn't grow. She doubled i size and is 55lbs. She is some kind of beagle/hound/boxer 4ys? She is very loving.

2) Lucy is also from a shelter. 4yrs. 22lb. We think she may be a terrier/shelty mix. She is very different looking. My mom told me I couldn't have her b/c she was ugly, so I got her. Both dogs are my babys!! They are both outdoor.

Cat and Dogs have not met yet, but will soon!!We live in an apartment right now so my mom is keeping the dogs and the cats are new. We are hoping for the best.

With a 19 year old brother, I fell for the same thing with Sophia! At least she better not have any younger siblings!

I thought that was a neat story!

That boy in the Braves shirt was a firecracker! He was the wise guy of the bunch at the party - and knew all about painting the pottery because he had done it three times as he told me!

LOVED reading everyone's pet and iPod shuffles! We are a diverse group, and I like that. I laughed at Amie on your's and Dennis' list Angie. I always smile at my Amy when that song comes on.

I'll keep trying to think up more of these little questions, it really lets you get to know interesting stuff about people.

Since Sophia is with her aunt overnight tonight we went for a late Mexican dinner and off to Borders. I got the last Steve Berry book I haven't read - The Amber Room.

Ok, I don't have an ipod. Doubt I would use it if I had one, I am still a fan of my xm and good ol' radio and cd's!!

My DH and I have very eclectic taste as well. In my disk changer in the car I have:

1. The new Nora Jones CD
2. Evanescence
3. Michael Buble
4. Santana - Shaman
5. Il Divo - Ancora
6. A mixed CD by my DD, with everything from Justin Timberlake to the Backyardigans... her taste is equally eclectic!!

Karen

My friend got to go home today - her clots lessen down by 90% after the two procedures. She asked that I come over and give her the Lovenox shot (I'm a nurse). It was nice to see her at home. Thanks for all your prayers - it was a bit scary with her in ICU on basically stroke watch. Glad she got through it. :goodvibes
Lisa

Good news she is home again.

We were lucky enough to snag the Roy suite back in January. And Noel gets the Walt for this New Year's! How great is that! I was thinking maybe because it is a special cruise, and no DISer has come up to claim it (and we are all that exists right??) that perhaps some big wig has it. I had though Roy Junior was on it for the last WB? But don't' know if he stayed in the Roy suite! Lisa

Roy and his (soon to be ex) wife were on the EB repo for a short while in 2005. They embarked on the ship in Acapulco and de-barked in Curacao. We were told that they did not stay in either of the cat 1's as they were not on the ship the entire time. Not sure who told us, not sure how reliable the source was...;)

Karen

Wow! That's great money for a 12 year old! :thumbsup2

The common job in our area was corn husking. When you mention that dreaded job, everybody cringes! Parents strongly encouraged their kids to do it and kids did it because they didn't think it could possibly be as bad as all the other kids said. People came into the schools to recruit kids and made it sound like such an easy way to earn lots of money over the summer. Fortunately, I never had to do that. Kids I know who did it told about bleeding fingers, long hot days in the sun, up before dawn, sore backs and other muscles from all the bending over all day. Awful job. :sad2:

Holly,

Can you say "child labor laws"...

Karen

I am going to assume that the paper route that I had from age 12 to age 16 does not count, or doing yardwork for an older man in the neighborhood either . . . My first REAL job was working in a decal factory at 16. It was in a bad part of town, and the paints smelled AWFUL. With my history of allergies, I quit after two days. Two days later, I got a phone call to start at the Grocery Chain that I am still working at 30 years later . . . started at $2.40 an hour, and did almost everything you can imagine in a grocery store over the years but work in Meat. Worked my way through High School, College, and Law School.

OUR Lisa PJ? It took her this long to set up the iPod? Holy Smokes!

I should have gotten your job instead! Would have been much more interesting for a 16 year old boy! Of course, it may not have been much more different than packing bags . . .:lmao:

Hmmmmmm . . . I have several friends on that cruise . . . we cruise first . . how much for a photo Captain Jack?

We got Lexi last Christmas, and Sophia was almost 6. Sophia is a very popular Greek name. In Greek, Sophia means Wisdom. I had an aunt Sophia, but we named Sophia because we liked the name, and she was baptized in the Orthodox church as was her brother Alexander. As an Aside, my father's name is Alexander, and my grandfather was John. It is the Greek tradition to name your firstborn son after your father.

And that is why I UNSUBSCRIBE to that thread after I post to it. It fills up my mailbox with JUNK!

John,

I'm sure that you are almost ready to get back up as it is 1:20 here in California, but... how do you keep posts out of your email. My DH is complaining (now that he got me hooked on DISing) that all of the replies come into his email box.

Karen

Okay, it is 12:46am on the East Coast and I need to get up at 6am for church. (I don't think I have told you guys my DH is a minister...that is a different story)...

Anyway, I never stay up this late. Right now there are 8 seventeen year olds in our media room playing xbox.....much rather have them here....keep lots and lots of teenage foods around....but that is a different story as well.

I was thinking about Lisa's (CALMOM) friend and I wanted to spend some time before sleep and really pray for her. Then I thought I would check out web prayer chain and see if anyone there needed any prayers.

Dear friends of ours with 2 little boys.....their oldest was attacked by a rabid Raccoon.....the Raccoon attacked him in their back yard this evening and his leg was all torn up. He is at the hospital right now and they are doing whatever it you need to do to start the Rabies treatment. His name is Stephen....and he is 7 years old. If you are lead, please pray for him this evening.....I understand this is a very difficult treatment.....

Poor baby!!! My thoughts and prayers got out to the whole family. I'm sure that they will be fine.:grouphug:

Nanette,

Had some wet eyes too, my mom passed away in June of 1999. When we rescued our kitty star from the shelter in February of 2000, they said that she was just about 7 to 8 months old. She has exibited many of my moms characteristics and I often thing of how much my mom would have loved our little star kitty.

That looks just wonderful Karen! Need to find our where it is now.

Didn't have much time this morning and just back now, but you are all not up and about yet!!!

Have a lovely day.

YUCKY....That sounds awful!

Two days later, I got a phone call to start at the Grocery Chain that I am still working at 30 years later . . . started at $2.40 an hour, and did almost everything you can imagine in a grocery store over the years but work in Meat. Worked my way through High School, College, and Law School.

Gee, you could retire! I don't think I'll ever reach that point because since it took me so long to work my way through undergrad and to get where I am today. Probably will be 40 when I graduate from law school. :sad2:

I should have gotten your job instead! Would have been much more interesting for a 16 year old boy! Of course, it may not have been much more different than packing bags . . .:lmao:

Absolutely! Poor little guy. How awful! :sad1: When I took Tyler to the doctor when he had strep throat, there was a woman there who they sent to the E.R. for the rabies series because she found a bat in her apartment....the doc told her the rabies series has changed a bit so that it's not as bad as it used to be. However, I imagine for a 7 year old, it's still horrible. Poor guy! :sad1:
