Does your camera take AA batteries? If so I learned that not all AA batteries are the same and some cameras are quite persnickety about their batteries.

Apparently AA batteries are actually made at different lengths. Very minimal to the naked eye, but what happens is the contacts on the AA batteries do not necessarily always make contact with the leads in the camera. This then has the camera thinking the batteries are dead or dying (depending on the amount of contact) even though they might have been just brand new out of the package.

Also, if they are rechargeable batteries (like Nimh) they will tend to lose their charge as they sit in your spare pocket waiting to get used. And as they get older they tend to hold less and less of a charge.

I'm currently in the process of changing all of my rechargeable camera batteries over from Nimh to Lithium. Lithium are supposed to hold their charge better. Howver, you do have to worry about the new rules when flying in the US about Lithium batteries in your checked luggage.

I just bought a bunch of Sanyo Eneloops rechargeable batteries, which are supposed to be quite good. I haven't opened them yet as I am saving them for the cruise. Until then I am going to run down my Nimh rechargeables till there is basically nothing left of them.

Oh my - this is so true. One dive drip DH says don't worry he has plenty of bateries. My camera went dead and his batteries would not fit - they were rechargable. We had to rushh to the store and buy $$$$ batteries.

Has anyone heard thatt he airlines will not let you pack (even in luggage) some types of bateries - Lythium (sp?) I think.

There is some new FAA ruling because lithium batteries can explode (no kidding).

Effective January 1, 2008, the Department of Transportation (DOT) through the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will no longer allow loose lithium batteries in checked baggage.

Learn more at http://safetravel.dot.gov/whats_new_batteries.html.

Perfect - thanks for the link.....and correct spelling...

Thanks, its not as many as I thought. I wish our captain would show back up as I liked her idea.

I am so upset with DH right now. He lost his passport and he told the girl scout he didn't want any cookies. I love the cookies with coconut, chocolate, and caramel but couldn't find any girl scouts this year. He likes thin mints but Keebler makes the same thing so I bought him some of those. They are great and he agrees they taste the same, but he doesn't like coconut so didn't get me any. Oh well my mom got me the kind with peanut butter. :) Off to search for the passport some more, this is why I keep all the important information.:upsidedow

Oh hi honey, Next time buy me my cookies.:rotfl2: (he is reading the Dis upstairs).

Seriously - lost passport???

There are places here that engage in expiditing passports - of course you pay, but it would be worth it at this point....

Is everyone aware of the new Dept. of Transportation rule that went into affect on Jan 1, 2008 regarding lithium batteries:

"In carry-on luggage, any batteries actually installed in electronic devices (cameras, laptops, etc.) are allowed, but only two more rechareable lithium-ion batteries are allowed as spares and they must be packaged in a plastic bag or the original retail packaging.

"In checked luggage, lithium-ion batteries are allowed only when istalled in an electronic device. No spares are allowed."

Won't work for the 12pack DH carries for dive camera and batteries......
Thanks...perhaps it will be regular bats for the trip?

Coulnd/t resist - when young I was told you must wear nice undies because you might have to go to the hospital...

Today - must wear nice underwear because you might meet nice people in the laundry room on the Discruise at 4:30 am....:rotfl:

I wonder if the ship would allow us to bring GREEN balloons on when we board? I never thought of it. Patrick would love it!

Nice idea - but we have had many problems with baloons when they get loose at sea with the marine life - so I would think it would not be allowed.

Actually, I never seem to recall balloons on board or any of the Disney events...

No, I thought about it but decided not. I considered Aruba, but I've been to Bonaire twice and figured it'd be about the same. And I've been to La Paz twice before (which I really liked) but I think the water's going to be cold this time of year...blah, blah, blah. Do I sound whiny? ;) I just decided to keep it simple and not try to fit diving in with everything else.

Are you guys diving at each port?

We are dving at all ports but Cabo - we are doing the zip line there. Never been to any of these ports...

I am a bit worried about the water temp in the pacific - We both are taking our custome suits - good 3 mils - but not sure if we need the vests as well.

We were told water temps were 65-70 - called the dive shops and they said 80s ????????

Presently I am in denial. If it is 65-70 - I am cold even in a longjohn combo with vest - my last dive 2 weeks ago - water temp was cold and I could not stop shivering...

And I am all caught up - must head to work and get caught up there and then head home and catch up on chores :lmao:

Well one out of three is not bad:lmao:

Have a gReat Friday....

OH MY GOSH! I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE.....SHIP OF "THEIVES"! I guess I'll call them tomorrow! We didn't even look at them, just hung them up in the closet! How funny! How many others are out there?

We just got ours this week.........

No one ever said pirates was good at spellen.....;)

I can't imagine how exhausting this is for him and his little CNS.
Exactly....poor guy. He fell asleep on the way to school from the OT appointment because she really wears him out. He absolutely loves those appts though. :thumbsup2

Good morning all! Just a quick pop-in to say hi! :goodvibes My internet wasn't cooperating at home last night, so that's why I suddenly disappeared. Probably can't pop in much today from work, the piles of work were already waiting for me when I got here this morning. BUT.....I love Fridays because the time flies by while working for the Energizer Bunny! :thumbsup2

how about a tip jar next to their cabins? Or better yet, I'll bring the ear gear from the go kart track, Monica ear protection? I'm bumming on this for you

In your honor I'll send out laundry so you don't have to hear by load(s) (ok not really but I'm working on the other peoples guilt factor to be quiet across from your room)

I really do hope it's okay for all those who have to deal with this inconvience. Seems that laundry should be not directly accross from a stateroom, or offer consideration for those that have to deal with it.:sad2:

Nan - that would be a picture, wouldn't it??? Ear gear, plus cpap machine w/ nose thing....NO ONE would be allowed in! :lmao: :lmao: I think I'm more worried about the warmth.

Just keep trying, especially in a few weeks....things do change. Also if nothing has changed for you, ask again at the port. Connie

Thanks Connie! That's my plan....of course, if DCL wants to give me an upgrade too......:rotfl:

We'll be unique and it will be OUR inside joke.

I know I was surprised too. I LOVE cookies and he knows that, don't know why he said no. They came to his work.

They were actually in front of one of my stores, I pulled in to get gas, went inside and they asked me as I went in.

I've never liked any GS cookies other than the thin mints, but if anyone wants to send some my way I'll try them again :rotfl:
