That's fine, tell yourself you are going home. When Taylor wants to stay with us, you're gonna let her, right? We'll have her fly home with us and you can meet us at the airport....you will change your mind, resistance is futile, right :3dglasses

This is some funny stuff! :rotfl:

I thought we are in the same area now, aren't we? Northern CA should all be the same.

I shouldn't talk for Molly either, she doesn't care about the camera, ipod or DVD player, she wants the pewter dog.

What is the animal in your incentives? We have a black and white border collie. Maybe the incentives are done by service unit??? No that can't be right, they are ordered at our council level I know since I've handed them out before....

No all the councils are different since they were set before the switch over. Some councils have much better prizes. Well some actually just give more at different levels. We don't even have the pewter dog. I saw that on your council sites web page.

Nan, The interesting thing is that different councils have different cookies too! I buy from my niece here in LA County and her troop has one bakery, and I buy from a friend's DD in Ventura County and they have a different selection from another bakery!

Yes we have lemon creme they have lemonades which by the way I want some! Oh and some dang cinnaspins too. :rotfl:

Hi Michelle

The ones we have are different coloured candy buttons filled with chocolate - similar to M&M's but much tastier and a bit bigger - I'll find a picture and post it....:thumbsup2

There are 2 types of Smarties.

One as Michelle said is a sugary aspirin/tablet shaped thing and the other is an M&M type.

That confused me when I moved to Chicago, as I only knew about the UK chocolate M&M type. People at work would talk about Smarties. When I was given some, I looked at them and said, "These aren't Smarties, they're like M&Ms only better."

I LOVE the chocolate Smarties. To me, they beat M&M hands down.

Michelle,

Our Dyson vacuum cleaner has no name. Not sure why. I have never quite warmed to the vacuum and it's lack of name probably reflects my ambivalence towards it.

I can't fault the Dyson. I am told by those in this house that actually use it, that it's wonderful, does a great job, easy to empty and extremely powerful.

(But Michelle, my personal thoughts, and this is quite, quite strictly entre nous, I think the vacuum cleaner sucks).

Hi Ian

Thankyou!!! Now I understand!!! I thought there was something I was missing - we call those sorts of lollies fruit tingles - a sugar hit that would knock your socks off!!

Chalk another thing up to problems with translation!

Did I read correctly that some people have started packing already for a vacation in May? Or, is that buying things in preparation?

We'll buy things in preparation for the trip. After all the tuxes are only being bought for the cruise, though the choice to buy them now, rather than waiting was driven more by choices becoming limited as prom season approached, rather than any great need to have the tuxes in our hot hands now.

I sometimes find myself wondering about living in the future too much. My mother always used to say, "Live today. Stop planning your life away."

For us, I can't imagine packing now. I mean more or less we know what we'll be taking. A week before, we'll make sure that the summer clothing is washed, and then we'll pack the night before we leave.

If I do any major advanced prep it's more about electronic stuff, making sure I've assembled all the right cables, chargers, memory cards etc, let we forget anything.

Otherwise, it's all really simple. Count stuff out and put it in a suitcase.

Still, I come back to living too much in the future? I also sometime wonder whether the actual event can be anticlimactic after all of the anticipation?

(Yes I know this is not my usually fluffy banter)

.

I'm trying on all my stuff and picking out what I'll pack. DEB on the other hand, I already weighed her first bag to make sure it was under the airlines limit!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

morning...AI, well David A was saved for last and he forgot his lyrics twice. I know he's young but he is seasoned as far as music and that should not have happened. Oh well. I loved Chickezie last night, hated Amanda, but several were forgettable. David Cook rocked it. I think I liked the guys better than the girls. I hope the Sarasota girl would do better but she went first and was forgettable as well. Haven't eyt checked Dial Idol or Vote For the Worst yet.

Don't feel bad. I was born and bred in the US and grew up in New York City (Brooklyn to be specific) and there were things that I simply did not understand or know about when I moved to the "main land."

I only knew about the British Smarties, never heard of the other kind.

Another funny story when I moved to, a guy I worked with told me he bought a "duplex." I naturally assumed that this was an apartment with 2 floors, an upstairs and downstairs.

I went to see his place and I said, "This isn't a duplex, it's a semi-detached house!" He just looked at me like I was crazy.

When I was sent to live in the UK on 4 year project, I was once in the HR office looking at the housing listings they had set up for we Americans.

A guy from Colorado, points to the housing sign on the wall and says, "Isn't it funny what they call it?" I said, "Call what?" He said, "They call it 'To Let', that's funny." I had never heard it called anything else but "To Let,' so I said, "What do you call it?" He said, "For Rent." To which I responded, "Maybe where you come from, but not where I come from."

People still make fun of me because I for the word "route" I still pronounce it as "root," the way I grew up pronouncing it in NYC.

Another funny thing is, and maybe it's because of my age, in grade school (public school as they are called in Brooklyn), I had to learn two spellings for many words.

I had to learn both:

color and colour
neighbor and neighbour
favorite and favourite
center and centre
theater and theatre
harbor and harbour
etc.

But I only learned one spelling for words such as catalogue.

Odd how in one country and in a matter of just a few years things can change so much.

Hi All....another dreary rainy dark day here.....I have to go out in a little bit and take Ray to the doctor......just a followup, nothing critical.....but what an ugly day to be out and about.....oh well.

Good Morning sweetie, I see you're talking about packing bags again. He keeps telling me that I'm over 50 lbs.....then he weighed it and it was only 30 lbs.......I'm good!

Well we're less than two months now......wow......it's going to go fast from here. It'll get busy again at 30 days out because Karen will give us the details about the Champagne Girls party and we should get room assignments. WOHOOOOOO FINALLY!! Then time will fly by and we'll be on that boat.

You should understand all my spellings then!!! I have to say though some of our spellings are daft.

Our are cumulative. But they don't kick in with anything other than a patch until you reach 75 boxes.
