I don't mean to rock the boat but rather keep people informed ---

A very good and reliable friend just came off an 3 day Wonder cruise and reports -

"DCL has decided that no matter how many different addresses, people or whatever type of room you have…. Only ONE Castaway Cay gift period.

Also, the DCL Castway Cay lanyard given at check in no longer had pins."

Since I always share a cabin with someone it now means one of us will go home without the return cruiser gift. That is disapointing. When you have two or more cruisers from different households it is difficult to share the gift. Its a shame too, they make those CC gifts so desirable. There has never been one I didn't want to keep.

I wish/hope they would rethink this new policy.

I don't know...I think some people aren't as good at "planning" for the various stages of a vacation. Others (such as most of us!) are quite good at it. We all have different talents, and I suppose that is one factor of marriage - appreciating each other's talents! I know my husband can pack himself, but he is at complete loss when he tries to pack for the kids. He just doesn't envision all the various "events" - just day and night is what he sees.

I totally agree. And that is what a good partnership should be, a recognization of each others stregnths and weakensses and reaching a balance.

Girl Scouts of the USA sells a patch called Passport to Adventure, it has a ship on it and stuff. It can be found on their website under patches. They also have a scrapbook patch.

A company we use called advantage emblem has a scrapbook patch. They have a website you can check out their patches on. There is also a company called Joycrest.

What is Storytellers like?

We love going to Storytellers. Food and service is wonderful. Never had a problem walking in for dinner. But the cruise ends on a holiday, best to get reservations.

Ordered off menu once, but now just do the buffet. DS always wants to make his own choices. Last time was anniversary last year. DS on his own went to the hostess and told them, they gave us anniversary pins, disney dollars (which had not yet, at that time, been released to the public) and desert with candle! We are at DL once or twice a month, and go to Storytellers only if we are celebrating something special.

Sad thing today. I thought we'd go see the Easter Bunny today and have Tyler's picture taken with him. Nope. He said, "I'm not going. Who wants to get their picture taken with some guy in a bunny costume?" I told him I want to, but he didn't believe me. Then I told him I'll sit on the bunny's lap and Tyler can take a picture of us and he looked at me like I was crazy, shook his head at me, and walked out of the room. I told him the Easter Bunny will be very sad and might not want to come leave him a basket of goodies. He told me that's OK with him.

Is storytellers a resturant? I thought that it called a lady who read the story with the book

Now I realise it is for dinner/meals!!

Anyway, I have send email to dcl about interpreters, meals times and gty!! I have not heard from them yet!!

Nan - I am not sure if I told you before about the dress. Olivia got the dress last saturday and it is lovely dress and I am glad that it was not too tight, wee bit big and nice!! She will wear it on the Cruise

It's been a while since I have had time to join in on the fun that is DISBOARDS!
I am Cynthia, husband JT and our new son Jonathan who will be 7 Mo's when we set sail. I go by Elderfam and want to take part in the fish exchange. my DH and I sailed on the east bound transatlantic last May. While on board my father passed away in Indiana, so this is my do-over cruise. I will say that we soooo enjoyed meeting fellow disboards members last year and look forward to meeting all of you in May.
Is anyone doing lanyards for this trip?

Well it seems like we are going to need that main contact person afterall. Susie are you still up for volunteering? We would give you the master list and you would take calls from people with changes and then write those changes on a whiteboard outside of your cabin door. If you still want to say yes, please let us know your SR#. If not, it's ok too, no explanation necessary.

Many thanks to Woody and V for letting us know what to be prepared for. This is my 6th DCL cruise, but only my first one with all you DISers. I'm sure it's going to be my favorite one and I can't wait to get it started!

That is probably true the first or second time but sooner or later he would catch on and learn how to pack wouldn't he?

I don't know because after our trip to Hawaii I never let him again. He brought one pair of shorts and was wearing one and he thought that was fine. He probably would do better on this trip because you need so many different kind of clothes but I'm not risking it. I like to pack anyway.

Brian, I have photos of that slumber party on the Magic in 2005, had to show them to Sasha from Croatia, who use to be a DCL CM in the entertainment division. He was working up here in Toronto, at the DS.

I was trying to read and catch up. I fell asleepwhile reading. The warm laptop on my lap.....lulls me to sleep.

Frank was very sick today and the doctor decided to send him back to the hospital. Don has him in the emergency room. They are thinking he may be in liver failure.

All is fine here. We had a very busy week in Winnipeg and are glad to be home. It was a nice drive home on Saturday other than my DH was getting rather uncomfortable from his surgery by the time we arrived home. We were certainly glad we waited though. He got out of the hospital on Thursday so we could have left then but he was just not ready to make the drive home as it takes seven hours. Saturday was much better for him. Hope each day gets a little easier. We will certainly need a vacation by the time May 2 hits. Only 54 days left. We can't believe how fast time is going now.

I know the service stories were a ways back, but if you'll bear with me, I have one to share. This is about my uncle. He was a gunner during WWII. During a mission over Italy the plane malfunctioned, went into a nosedive, and he was ordered to jump. The plane recovered and flew back to the base, but my uncle was stuck behind enemy lines. He went to a farmhouse and asked for help. For six weeks, various families hid him in their houses and barns, moving him every couple of weeks, so he--and they--wouldn't get caught. This was toward the end of the war, and the Americans had finally reached a town nearby. So the local people who had been helping him finally were able to reunite him with the troops.

Fast forward 50 years. A man who was just three years old when his family helped hide my uncle tracked down my mother trying to find my uncle. Sadly, my uncle had passed away in 1979. But we struck up a friendship with this family and we all travelled to Italy to visit them in 1999. They showed us all around the village and pointed out the different hiding places. We stopped in one home, and an 80-year-old woman told us tales of my uncle and SAID HOW GRATEFUL THEY WERE TO THE AMERICANS. She said my uncle was a great man. It just made us all cry. Those people who helped hide and care for a missing soldier were the heroes.

Well, thanks for listening. I was so inspired by your stories, I just had to share mine.

Yes, I had a little fun with the Google map! I check in from time to time, but you guys talk so much, it's hard to keep up!

A reintroduction - I am Brian, and am sailing with my friend Debbi. We are in the same stateroom that we had during the 2005 Westbound Repo - 6085 (The same cabin Holly thought she had booked when the cruise opened up last January). I will be turning 41 on May 18th, and Debbi will be turning the big 4 0 the next day.

I am so looking forward to the cruise. Even have my calendar ready:

The last cruise I took 4300 pictures. I think with the extra day, I should be able to break that mark.
