DH is a big boy and can pack for himself. :rotfl:
However, I do give him a DETAILED checklist. ;)

Mine is too. I don't even give him a list. Figure he travels enough, he should know what he needs. :confused3  Besides, that way if he forgets something he can't blame me.

I was thinking the same thing. :confused3 If it were engine problems, I sure hope they get it resolved before we cruise.

I would imagine that if it was engine problems they would fix it. I am sure the crew doesn't want to try and manage a ship like that with a bad engine all the time. Maybe until they get to final port on that trip but not much longer. Especially since it will be in California all summer.

Took a day off to take the boys on a train ride yesterday with their DGF & DGM and finally caught up!

That is so cool. My grandfather was a big train enthusiast. So much so he instilled the love of trains in my brother and I. My brother is a engineer with Amtrak. We will for sure plan a visit to check this out.

Will look forward to having you visit and chatting.

last year as I was walking up to a local Carvel store, an elderly gentleman passed me going the other way wearing his American Legion cap. A small ribbon on it caught my eye. light blue with five white stars. I turned and walked back to him, stopped him and went to attention and gave him my best old Navy salute. I am proud to have served and prouder still of all who have, and all who do still. so if I still salute it is out of pride.:thumbs

Any person who earned the Medel of Honor deserves as sharp a salute as we can give. Well done!

That gives us more to talk about. I was a gandydancer in the summer of '64, and my GGF was a Section Master in Arlee, MT. I still have his old rolltop desk from the station. I have never been to your Museum. :confused3 I don't know why I have never been there. I can only claim ignorance on my part.

Will look forward to hearing about your experiances with the spike mallet. The museum is normally only open for rides to the public on Sundays, but for us members, it is open 24/7!

This looks so cool! Next time my nephew and I go to DL, I'd like to take him up there to ride the trains!:goodvibes

Just let me know when and we will try hard to make it happen.

Oh... give me more to do in CA!!!! :lmao: Be careful... I might just take you up on it!!!

Wow...you guys will drink for ANY reason!!! But please... have a designated driver... (I know... Me... but I can't drive the trains!!!)

Any of the Queens are always welcome to ride the train with this knight! And yes, the grog is for after the ride, never before!

Count me in (that is if you include your Nato Allies)

Sub-Lieutenant - Royal Canadian Navy - Steaming off Bermuda to assist in the Falkland's War - if needed

All services/ranks/countries are welcome!

Our flight got pushed back more! Not arriving now until 10:48pm on the 9th! Wow that is late. We will be some tired but happy folks on the morning of the 10th!
Lisa

We too are scheduled to arrive at MCO at 6am on the 10th! Care to meet for breakfast since the first bus to the port does not leave until 9:30?

Gray hair & blue eyes...:lovestruc

Humm, I have gray hair and blue eyes....and single too! :lmao:

Hello all!

It's been a while since I have had time to join in on the fun that is DISBOARDS! :thumbsup2
I am Cynthia, husband JT and our new son Jonathan:cloud9: who will be 7 Mo's when we set sail. I go by Elderfam and want to take part in the fish exchange. my DH and I sailed on the east bound transatlantic last May. While on board my father passed away in Indiana, so this is my do-over cruise. I will say that we soooo enjoyed meeting fellow disboards members last year and look forward to meeting all of you in May.
Is anyone doing lanyards for this trip?
Please let me know if I can help in any way.
Warm regards,
Cynthia

Welcome aboard, we too were on the EB Trans cruise. Seems there are a lot of us going again! Woo Hoo!

Ok, now that I am offically late for work, I am going to head off on my drive and hope that the freeways are clear today! Chat with everyone later!

I know the service stories were a ways back, but if you'll bear with me, I have one to share. This is about my uncle. He was a gunner during WWII. During a mission over Italy the plane malfunctioned, went into a nosedive, and he was ordered to jump. The plane recovered and flew back to the base, but my uncle was stuck behind enemy lines. He went to a farmhouse and asked for help. For six weeks, various families hid him in their houses and barns, moving him every couple of weeks, so he--and they--wouldn't get caught. This was toward the end of the war, and the Americans had finally reached a town nearby. So the local people who had been helping him finally were able to reunite him with the troops.

Fast forward 50 years. A man who was just three years old when his family helped hide my uncle tracked down my mother trying to find my uncle. Sadly, my uncle had passed away in 1979. But we struck up a friendship with this family and we all travelled to Italy to visit them in 1999. They showed us all around the village and pointed out the different hiding places. We stopped in one home, and an 80-year-old woman told us tales of my uncle and SAID HOW GRATEFUL THEY WERE TO THE AMERICANS. She said my uncle was a great man. It just made us all cry. Those people who helped hide and care for a missing soldier were the heroes.

Well, thanks for listening. I was so inspired by your stories, I just had to share mine.

What a wonderful story and an awesome trip/experience for you and your family! Thank you for sharing.

We heard that same sentiment in China at the Stillwell Museum.

when can we book DL dining?

V, you are reading my mind, lol.

I want to do breakfast at belle terrace for sure.
And also a meal at storytellers in the GC.

60 days before is;

5/25 ~ 03/26/2008 (lunch maybe, dinner for sure)
5/26 ~ 03/27/2008 (all meals)
5/27 ~ 03/28/2008 (all meals)
etc.

I never knew Kalamazoo was a real place!:rotfl:
Oh yes! That's where I was born and lived until 2001 (with the exception of a few months lived here and there in other states along the years). There's a Hilton hotel right in the middle of downtown, and when I was a kid, the gift store there sold TONS of things that said, "Yes, there really IS a Kalamazoo!" T-shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, everything. Hmmmm......I suppose they probably do still sell that stuff.

So why has Holly got a pink marker on the map and the rest of us a blue one?

I thought V was the pink person on here!!!
:rotfl: Oh Marilyn, I do pink and purple EVERYTHING! In fact, at work people just laugh at my pink paperclips. The men are just thrilled when I give their work to them with pink paperclips attached. ;)

actually I am more of a purple gal myself, Deb is the one into pink.

Yes, I was curious abotu AZ, never knew they didn't observe the time change.

I didn't get much sleep last night, my nose is running like a faucet. And the time change is killing me!

Although Native American lands do change to DST even in AZ.

Would love to however getting my four boys out of the room for breakfast will be near impossible! We are going to pack those boxes of cereal and eat that in the morning. I haven't arranged our transportation yet...we are debating between a limo excursion or save the money and do the van. We aren't joining the hummer crowd due to our 2 year old - who knows what type of mode he will be in after traveling so late at night. Wouldn't wish that upon my enemy!

Tons of cruises before ours, so it's probably fixed or getting fixed any time now. :thumbsup2

My DH has seen two Robins in the last two days but the hummingbirds, etc. haven't migrated back yet. Can't wait, we get a lot of humming birds and I love those too. The Cardinals and Blue Jays do brighten up the winter months, though.

Carol

And here I thought it was Spring that brought out the Cardninals and Blue Jays....:rotfl:

do most of you pack for your husbands? How many shorts, pants are you bringing? I have three swimsuits for John, I think that is enough.

My DH packs....then I follow behind him and unpact 1/2 the stuff he packs...:lmao: We would be brining 3 elephants...except for the dive gear, he gets the last word there.

Oh, ok. Thanks. I requested the PLA - I love being in Luminere's for formal and PC for pirate night. I think that gets that accomplished? If I don't get it, I'll be one of "those" people (hee..hee...reference to 3/1 thread) to go to the dining area upon embark to ask to change. I don't know why it is important to me...more important than the time. We are in the main dining, which sounds like the minority of this group.

So I have 2 "to-do's" upon check-in - Palo's brunch and dining rotation check. Is there anything else I should focus on that first day besides having fun?
Lisa
We're waitlisted for main, so I'm sure we'll see you there too! And that goes for threebritts (Heather and family) who we're dining with. I hope we get it, otherwise we'll miss many dinners.

If it is an engine issue, will that affect our cruise? Does anyone know if the ship is scheduled for some "time off" before making the Canal cruise?

I really wouldn't worry - I read the link as well. On one of our cruisers, on family had been 4 times and no CC until our ship, it happens...weather and currents are unpredicatable, regardless of the posts on the thread.

In the 2005 year of the hurricanes we went through Tropical Storm/Hurricane Gamma - sick guests, sick kids, sick crew even....but it improved and we all had a good time.....not fun, not what we planned, but it happened....
