Storytellers . . . When my wife first took me there, I kept waiting for someone to come out and read a story! Wife had to explain that the "stories" are told through the murals that decorate the restaurant.
If you ask, the waitstaff will tell you a story.

Caught up again from this morning, here is my multi-quote responses:

RELAX AND REMEMBER YOU ARE ON VACATION! Like Ducky Williams says everytime he does a presentation

HE WOULD RATHER SPEND HIS WORSE DAY AT SEA THAN HIS BEST DAY ON LAND AT HIS OFFICE

Ducky is an amazing man. I was out bid for one of his works in the Art Auction on the TransAtlantic. Hoping he will travel with us again on this cruise.

Also, the DCL Castway Club lanyard given at check in no longer had pins."

I wish/hope they would rethink this new policy.

I hope so too, I liked the pins to trade with. Guess I am going to have to order a grab bag for the boys!

I don't know...I think some people aren't as good at "planning" for the various stages of a vacation. Others (such as most of us!) are quite good at it. We all have different talents, and I suppose that is one factor of marriage - appreciating each other's talents! I know my husband can pack himself, but he is at complete loss when he tries to pack for the kids. He just doesn't envision all the various "events" - just day and night is what he sees.
Lisa

There are events for which I need to dress the boys??:rotfl2:

I don't know because after our trip to Hawaii I never let him again. He brought one pair of shorts and was wearing one and he thought that was fine. He probably would do better on this trip because you need so many different kind of clothes but I'm not risking it. I like to pack anyway.

Hey one pair of shorts will last for the trip, they can walk off the ship on thier own. Also that means less laundry too!:lmao:

Your husband knows where the kid's clothes are
No really he does have talents but :laundy: is not one of them!

Hey I have to pack for the boys without them knowing it and do all the laundry too! Some men can do both!

We love sea days too.
And, at risk of sounding really weird, I will admit that we are not particularly bothered about CC. We appreciate how well done it is, but we are not beach people. And we've both lived in the Caribbean (DH spent 6 months in Belize, I spent 12 months in St Kitts) so it's not that big a deal to us.

I can see how people would be disappointed, but it's a risk you take with any cruise, that you may not be able to visit the ports planned.

Although if we can't go through the Panama Canal I would be seriously disappointed. Except the long way around could be fun I suppose, and would entail lots more time onboard! ;)

I too am NOT a big beach fan, and I grew up within 2 miles of the beach until college. I would also love to have to take the long way around too, but I might not have a job when I get back.

Just noticed on the main board that Cinderella's Carousel is slated to be done for refurb/rehab while we are there. Got me to thinking about what else is going to be down during this trip in both WDW and DL. Here's the list so far:

DL
It's a Small World - Jan 22 to Nov 28

That's all that I can see for right now...

You are not going to believe why IASM is down... They are having to make the water track deeper because some of the boats are bottoming out under all the extra weight of some of the larger people riding the boats. The average weight in the boat has gotten heavier since it opened in '64.

I pack, Darrell cleans - I definitely think I have the better end of that deal :thumbsup2

You did get the better end. I have to do both!:confused3

When do you have to cancel reservations if you decide against them (spa, shore, etc)? I recall last time it said you had to do it before the sailing date, but then I also recall that once on board they said it was no problem to cancel. We are debating the couple villa spa, and I'd like to keep it booked until we board but don't want to get charged cancellation fees. :confused3 Thanks in advance.
Lisa

Lisa, it is 3 days before sailing. Sorry no one responded earlier.

Update on the sad Easter Bunny situation of yesterday: On the way to school this morning, Tyler told me, "I'm so sorry for what I said yesterday about the Easter Bunny. I need to see him to tell him what kind of basket I want. Can we please, please go see him today after school?"

So.......here's what we did today on the way to karate class:

LANSING_20080310_000038-1.jpg

Great photo Holly, but I thought if you eat carrots you got good eyesight...so why is the wabbit wearing glasses???

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGIE!!!

Hope you had a great rib eye with Dr. Hug and hope that all your wishes do come true. You deserve only the best in life! We'll toast a cheers to you onboard. I look forward to it!

Angie, Let me be one of the last to wish you Happy Birthday today!! I hope the day was filled with the fun things you wanted to do.

Okay off to work on more stuff from the office before I sack out and start again in a few hours. My sheets should be out of the dryer in about 30 mins. Ahhh, count your blessing that you are not a single parent and for those who are (Holly, et al) keep smiling as we endure! Boy am I looking forward to getting my mug and relaxing on board! I may even breakdown and buy a 25 year old single malt from the duty free since I don't have to fly home!:woohoo:

I have friend . . . who had a dream that we went to sleep after Aruba and ended up in Alaska because the Panama Canal was blocked. So we took the other way around . . .
Did she take the Wonka-vator?

Woody

Same here.

During the TA cruise, I did make it on one of the sea days into the quiet cove pool with the boys for a few minutes. They got more out of it than I did. The jacuzzi, on the other hand, was very nice. Does that count as one of the "pools?":rotfl:

. . . I have never owned a pair of formal shoes before.

. . . I can tell you that I did manage to figure out that they did not go with the sweat pants I was wearing when I tried them on.

Perhaps you could start a new fashion trend. Or not.

:ssst: You weren't the one I outbid were you?

Seriously, I got tired of not winning one of his "free" sketches so I happened to bid on one. I "won" one of his AP Mexican Riveria lithos from 2005. I so wanted it. I was on :cloud9: when I won it. Only after the bill came in did reality strike but you know what? I don't care! I have an original Ducky Williams signed Litho and its hanging on my wall! :dance3:

I see I forgot to tell the story of when my ds was working the monorail - they had a convention of OEA and they boarded the monorail - well, seems Americans have gotten larger (me included! :sad1: ) - broke it down and had to be moved backwards to the dropoff spot - offload everyone and then drive backwards to depot station where it went into repairs for a few days.

Can you imagine that sight? :scared1:

Same here.

Hey Woody - believe it or not - it wasn't until this last cruise - (Aug) that I was forced to go to the adult pool. I actually liked it. My goal this time is to get DH to go. DH didn't go on the repo with me - I took a friend and she is a regular beach bunny - me? I could care less, I don't miss the sand in the shorts and the red skin. Crazy coming from a born and bred CA girl huh?

If you got wet -- and it wasn't your beer -- it must be one the pools.

I think we Californians take much for granted.

We live close to the beach, and for many years we went to the beach only when we had visitors.

Sand in the shorts -- ewwwww!

Ok all - in lieu of a conversation I overread on here a few days ago, I just wanted to post this here. I hope I don't get into trouble, I just thought if I enjoyed it - maybe so would others - and also keep our soldiers in mind - I have chosen to sponsor 2 soldiers for a year - I started in December and have made a pledge to continue for this year. They don't want much - just a line or two here and there. If anyone is interested in something like this - please feel free to PM me and I can give you more info.

Some of you may have already seen it - I hadn't but I think it bears showing - if allowed.

Darn - no patriotic smiley here.

:wave2: Everyone - just popping in - got totally sick on Saturday - think I got food poisoning from McD's. I would not wish this on anyone. I'm such a baby for stomach ailments. Finally went to urgentcare on Sunday and begged the doctor to yank out my stomach. Instead - he gave me some kind of GIH???? drink and anti-biotics and sent me home. Have spent most of the weekend in bed - and not feeling good about that. Oh well, hope everyone is doing well and one quick question - too tired to go back and look - got to get back to bed - but who is the person we need to notify if we want to go to the DL meet this Saturday? Was it Edna-mode?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Sign me off as - Still a little

Take care.

Very nice!!

Happy Birthday Angie!

I have spent most of today thinking about this cruise. I was putting away toys yesterday and did something to my back. It hurts to bend and move a certain way. Not sure if I can do pilates tomorrow, which would be a bummer as it is my only physical activity I do all week. I am working from home (from bed) and just enjoy reading DIS, posting on that 3/1 thread...so much fun...and just dreaming of every part of this cruise. Does anyone else do that sometimes? I think about my DH, and am so grateful he is agreeing to go, even though I think deep down he doesn't think we should. But deep down, I know I'm right and he will be so happy once we are there. Looking at that dinner rotation of laplaplaplaplap and see how many letters there was just made me so happy! So many nights. I remember about 12 years ago we went on a 14 Princess cruise from Athens-Rome, visited Israel and Egypt. Having so much time on a ship was just wonderful. You really do leave your worries behind! And goodness knows we all have so many worries.

Sorry to go on and on...just so happy that before we know it, I will hear the CM introduce us as the Cooper family. I think I might cry!
Lisa

aon the TransAtlantic last year, I didn't take ENOUGH picutres! I am going to make up for that this time!

What is everyone wearing on Mexican Fiesta night? I am in the sewing mood, and I am thinking about an outfil......Mexican traditional.......but on the websites, there are so many....I like the ruffled, very full skirts. but, I am sure they look better on young, thin, women.....not me! Connie

At the moment I ahve a white skirt, white tee with some ribbons around neck and I am going to buy a red macrame sash. But, I am watching a couple of things on Ebay too! John at the moment will just be in a linen shirt.(And trousers;) )

Marilyn and I are both Aries, March 23rd. We will be 29.

Ian and Keith both Aries too, 26 March and 29 March

My in between trip is LA - my sister is treating me to a week-end at the Chateau Marmont to celebrate my 40th in a few weeks. It will be a few weeks early of course (since my b-day is May 16). I love star sighting, so we will go to some of those places like the Ivy and such. Any Southern CA have recommendations for star watching?? I'm sending down a bottle of Dom and a nice bottle of red I got as a gift to help celebrate the occasion. I can't wait for that trip...partially because once it arrives that means only 4 more weeks until this one!!! We haven't taken 2 weeks off for 12 years. This is going to be such a treat. And I don't care if the ship misses all its ports! I'll just be so happy to be sailing....
Lisa

:) Lisa, I remember in part 4 you mention that you will have cocktail in evening for your birthday, so I will come along and join with you okay.:thumbsup2
