His God daughter came and bought our antique piano yesterday. They stayed quite a while and we talked quite abit, Just before they were leaving she told us his story and got the coin out of her purse. She said she was sure he would want Dennis to have this. We both teared up....we do that alot! :sad2: She said he was given 100 coins to give away when he got the medal.

Wow Angie, how special and what an honor. I can understand why you got so teary. I got goosebumps reading it.

I have a story to tell. One day I was sitting on the deck and watching the kids in the pool, all of a sudden I saw a leaf on one of our rather large hostas sway a little and then it was gone. I thought I was seeing things. Then a little while later another, swoosh it was gone. A few days later almost all the leaves were gone. We found that critter in the pool a few days later and that was the end of him/her.

We live in the middle of a pasture, so it is a constant battle with the rotten little critters. We used to have a great gopher getter cat, but he passed on and his brother is just way to old now to chase anything! Our son and nephew used to sit on the deck and try to shoot them with their 22 rifles when they were young, good practice, but not many gophers gone! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Ian,

My birthday is coming up, I've just emailed my DB with the Chumby linked. Fingers crossed he gets the hint! Since Mrs Bennett is practically perfect in every way, I may have to name ours Mary Poppins. :)

Cork

Yes Cork!! You must get Mary Poppins!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Good Morning Cruisers.....we have some very important business to attend to this morning.

I want to hear from people that already have rooms numbers assigned. We have only one volunteer so far and that is Venetia who is going to be our Deck 7 monitor. I need volunteers to be monitors on every stateroom deck and then we need a volunteer to be the keeper of the master list. This is what's involved: Anyone who gets a last minute room assignment or change calls the master list keeper. That's the main contact person for everyone. Noel was going to be this person, but since she had to cancel, we need someone else to do it. Someone who already has a room number assigned.

The master list person will take a voice message left on their phone and then contact the deck monitor on the corresponding floor and let them know of the changes. They could leave a voice message. The deck monitor should have a small dry erase board outside of their stateroom where they can note the changes.

When the fish teams are going to gift, they can check with the deck monitors on each floor and note any changes in their mini navs.

So we need volunteers to be deck monitors and to be the keeper of the master list. But we need people that are not in the lifeboats. Anyone want to join Venetia and step up here. We would all be very greatful.

If someone else has a better way of getting this information to all the DISers, please speak up and let us know. We're open to suggestions.

DrHUg can take deck 6. :rotfl2: He is in 6603.:thumbsup2

Looking for info about laundry facilities on the Magic (didn't do washing last
time). Do the machines work better on powder or liquid detergent, from
people's experience?

I will be bringing detergent with us from Sydney, and want to take what will
suit the machine better - or doesn't it matter because either would be fine?
In Australia, you have to use special detergent in some kinds of machines, I
don't know what happens in the US.

Thanks in advance for your help!:thumbsup2

No special detergent required....bring POWDER (it weighs less!).

Still in the lifeboat! Did anyone get a room # this week-end?

Nope :sad2:

Well, I've been trapped on the DIS reading a giant trip report (CraftyMouse's Magic back to back cruise), so I've not started any projects and am very hungry. So looks like I'll be doing the grocery shopping first then dive into the piles of paper.

have a good Sunday everyone.

I've given up trying to catch up. My movie is on again. :lovestruc
"Woman of the house, where's me tea."

Off to dust and watch John Wayne. :)

Just spent some time looking at the DCL picture of the day...so much fun looking at them. Makes me so excited to go on our trip!!

I love hearing all the stories of those that have served...and a big thank you!

For those still looking for cameras....

Office Depot ad this morning has a $50 off digital cameras $199 or more.

Canon Powershot 720IS will be $149 ( a really decent price. Of course we paid almost hundred dollars more when it first came out! You would think we would have learned to wait a while since we paid $1300 for a VCR when they first came out!)

Canon Powershot SX100 IS will be $199

Both of the prices are available online. Not sure about the shipping costs though. Don't know if you can get this prices in Canada either.

There are, of course, other camera brands on sale. I am however partial to Canons!

Thanks Lisa, I like them. All the flowers are beautiful. It adds life to the room, plus the beauty and the smell. Go for it!!

Well, ok. DrHug will be glad to know he does not need to pack a dry erase board. ;) :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: And he had his room wrong anyway! 6003, I think.:sad2:

Thanks Angie for volunteering for Dr. Hug. It saves room on the packing. We appreciate your wanting to help. It's good that it's not necessary....so much easier.

Just passing through and I noticed there was still space to reserve on this sailing today on DCLs' web site at 7:47AM California time. Maybe this is news someone can use to squeeze on, eh?...

That keeps popping up. Must be something wrong with it!!:lmao:

Not on sale in Canada, yet. The first camera is $219.99 and the second is still $279.99. I might just wait to see if there is a special the week I head down to BUF. If not I will buy it in Canada.

I logged on just to post that I watched, This is one, no my only favorite movies. I will in my lifetime find a way to spend some time exploring the "emerald Isle" mostly because of this movie. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Sending you some :wizard: pixie dust.

I'm sitting here in my kitchen, streaming Sorcerer Radio from my Mac (via Slimserver) in my basement office to Mrs. Bennett here in the kitchen. At the moment "Walking Right Down the Middle of Main Street/Clang Clang Went the Trolly" is playing.
