I am looking for the post number from seaulater/Linda re: the cms and gifts specifically where she is speaking of the phone cards, etc...

GIFT CARD UPDATE, PICTURE UPDATE, ETC.
Sorry for the delay in posting this since I was on the Wonder, but here are the answers to the questions raised that I got from CM's about stuff:
1. Gift Cards-the CM's really like the
Walmart Gift Cards. I talked to a couple of different CM's I know about their time on the California Coast back in 2005 and whether they would like gift cards at different places rather than Walmart. The answers I got consistently were that they really never had much time off the ship because a) the serve breakfast and get everyone off and then if they do have time off before getting back on, at most it is only a couple of hours, so it doesn't give them time to explore, just time to run to Walmart to get the personal items that they need to restock up on.
2. Telephone cards-the CM's I talked to really don't use the telephone cards anymore. Specifically, I talked to one server I know extremely well and she said that she can now stay on the ship and not even get off to call her family. She said she can talk for 2 hours to her family (foreign country) and it only costs her about $10, so the CM's get a really good deal (unlike our $6.95 per minute!). She said standing in line on the dock, trying to use a phone, and using a card is not efficient with their time off, so she uses her time by using the ship CM phones.
3. Pictures-okay, so there is NO WAY that we can get 300 people on the secret deck 7, or the CM pool deck. The CM pool deck is definitely out of the question. The suggestion I got from my friend in Shutters is that the Goofy Pool Deck on Deck 9 is perfect for a group of 300 because they can take the picture from Deck 10 and get everyone in the picture. With that said, I would need to make arrangements once on board because we would need to have the cover on the pool. SO my thoughts were that when we were leaving one of the ports, the pool alot of times is covered for sailaway parties from the different ports, so maybe the best time would be to do it when we are leaving a port after sailaway when everyone disperses and the pool is still covered.
4. Picture-Champagne Gals. No problem. However, we may need to be flexible with the time because at 4 p.m. on PC day, that may be at the time when we are going through the last locks and the photographers are out on deck taking pictures.
So, I guess the word of the day is.................
FLEXIBLE
If we can be flexible, than I am sure we can get our picture needs taken care of. As long as I have stateroom numbers in the mini-navigator, I most likely will be able to do a group message to all the disboard members to your stateroom phone to give you information if it changes during the cruise so I can call and give updated information.
Okay, did I miss anything I was checking on?
We also have Dvcmike on our team.
Thanks!
OH! I am NOT getting up at 6am for ANYTHING! The motion of the ship makes me sleep and sleep and sleep....in fact last year when we did the TA, the best sleeping days were the wild weather ones! Connie
So you aren't going to see the Magic entering the canal?
I wonder if the ship would allow us to bring GREEN balloons on when we board? I never thought of it. Patrick would love it!
hm....nice thought. what about our own helium???
OH, GOOD< I was going to PM you about it tomorrow. Let me know how much you need......I can either bring it or send it to you. connie
no worries right now!
I am so upset with DH right now. He lost his passport and he told the girl scout he didn't want any cookies. I love the cookies with coconut, chocolate, and caramel but couldn't find any girl scouts this year. He likes thin mints but Keebler makes the same thing so I bought him some of those. They are great and he agrees they taste the same, but he doesn't like coconut so didn't get me any.
Oh well my mom got me the kind with peanut butter.
Off to search for the passport some more, this is why I keep all the important information.
Oh hi honey, Next time buy me my cookies.
(he is reading the Dis upstairs).
Always ask Seaulater what she can do for you? I think she may have a connection or two....
Yeah, I have cookies. It's those Samoas you are wanting!
Nice idea - but we have had many problems with baloons when they get loose at sea with the marine life - so I would think it would not be allowed.
Actually, I never seem to recall balloons on board or any of the Disney events...
THE GOLDEN MICKEY AFTER PARTY BALLOON DROP ON THE MAY 2005 PANAMA CANAL CRUISE HELD IN THE ATRIUM!!
(When we board the ship we can look up to the top of the atrium. If the balloons are there, then they will be doing the balloon drop!)
