OK - bear with me if I get these wrong -

I swear I thought your two were teenagers - imagine my surprise when I saw your kids - BTW, just want to confirm that I can post your kids too? If so - just let me know.

Here's the first one -

:headache: Don't know why I'm posting single posts - anyway, here is one sample of the sign language on the wall - did I read that ScottishWee might know sign language?

IMG_8909.jpg

BTW, read an article in some woman's magazine where some lady adopted an albino pit bull who happened to be deaf. She was "housing" him when she became attached and later ended up adopting him. The dog had a "history" was seized from a drug dealer's raided house. The dog was confiscated - later released to the uncle of the drug dealer who later returned the dog because he was "stupid." The Human Society tested the dog and found out he was deaf so that is how the new "mommy" got the idea to communicate with the dog. She refused to believe he was not smart and just had to figure out a way to communicate with him.

She started teaching the dog 2-3 signs a week - he now has about 50 in his vocabulary. The funny part of the story? She comes from an Italian family who ends up speaking with their hands, the dog eventually drives himself crazy trying to read the signs such as: "sit", "stay", "down", "door", "walk", "doorbell",

Apparently the dog is so eager to please that he misunderstands the hand movements for sign language (they do not sign) so the owner has to sometimes tell her mom that she's confusing the poor dog and to stop talking with her hands. It was a cute and inspiring story.

Here's another one -

OK folks - tired finally - getting to bed as I have to be up early tomorrow - talk to you all later! :wave2:

Today was a blast! :)

I am not sure how to pack the toiletries....they are heavy. I was putting them in a zippered beach type bag, but IDK.

I bought plastic with bag from my work and I refilled in with shampoo, condition, body lotion, etc and much lighter than carry full shampoo etc.
Can wash it out on last day save carry it home? Just a thought

Funny story about packing. Last weekend when Tyler's dad brought him home, Tyler was excited to see that I had brought down his suitcase from the attic (he'd been bugging me forever to do this). Without even saying goodbye to his dad, he ran into his room and started grabbing stuff to pack. His 2nd trip to his room, he came back out with a WHOLE DRAWER and proceeded to dump his underwear drawer into the suitcase. His dad and I just looked at each other like Tyler had completely gone off the deep end. :lmao: He said, "Son, I don't think you need to pack yet. You can pack the night before you leave." I looked at his dad and said, "THANK YOU!" At least packing is one thing his dad and I agree on! ;)

So after Tyler had packed every single short sleeve shirt he owns, I reminded him that he does need to still wear CLOTHES here before we go on vacation. :rotfl: I finally got him to understand that he can pack everything we won't be needing until the cruise, so he packed all his shorts & swimsuits, a few t-shirts (more to be added later), 2 lanyards, and a hat.

I realized his suitcase is too small for 2 weeks, so I bought him a 3 piece set from Wal-mart this weekend. It's black and has skulls & crossbones all over it. VERY piratey and super cool! Still small, but just right for his stuff. So today when he came home, he had to reorganize and pack MORE stuff! The new set was a small rolling suitcase, a matching duffel (will be his carryon), and a matching toiletry bag. He found an extra toothbrush, extra tube of toothpaste, and floss, and put that in the toiletry bag. He's allowing me to add my stuff to that bag when it's time for me to pack since he knows he doesn't have enough stuff to fill that one. :rotfl2: And to stay in the spirit of things, while sleeping now, he's cuddling a giant Mickey Mouse. Very funny!

Aw sweet Tyler, mind you my son won't pack his clothes, but Olivia do and she saw me tidy up and organise things like filling the shampoo in plastic things etc and she said what wrong with one tee shirt which I bought her from Med Cruise as it still too big, she tried it on and said see it is not too big she packed it with hat to match in the case. Oh well. that is mind.

I remember you two as I remember your names as you both were on Med Cruise last year with british Andrew and Helen.

I did reading your forum last year.

Hi
wow, that is ASL (American Sign Langauges) We are using BSL with two hands. However, my husband know asl very well than me. I am still learning and last year On Med Cruise - two interpreters had been helping and we had been shared our sign langauges which was very funny.

Thank for showing us and it is interest to read your little story.:thumbsup2

Strange that some dog can understand to deaf people communicate like that.

As we have deaf friend who had the dog very good, know what they talking about. But dog died they were heartbroken and said cannot replace any dog like that. that was long times ago.

Oh yes, where about you see it ?

Thank for showing us.

morning! I went to bed at 9:30 last night!!!

The pics are great, everyone looks like they had a great time!

I did not see this....did you guys?

The Disney Cruise Line has joined several other major lines by announcing updated smoking regulations for its ships. Starting Saturday, April 19 on the Wonder, and Sunday, April 20 on the Magic, the new policy extends the no-smoking policy to every indoor area, including the clubs in the adult entertainment districts on Deck 3 forward (Diversions, Cadillac Lounge, Beat Street, etc.). Smoking is still allowed on guests' private verandahs. The outdoor smoking areas have been moved from port to starboard. Those are the deck 4 promenade, and outdoor areas on decks 9 and 10. The comfy smoking area immediately outside the entrance to the Cove Cafe on Deck 9 forward has been moved to the opposite side of the deck, as it was on the port side. As always, smoking is not allowed anywhere near the Mickey Pool.

After I read it and make me FEEL VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH IT.

We are non smoking and we are in starboard Cat 6. We cannot stand SMOKING, cant stand smelling SMOKING.

All I wish that Disney Cruise should ask people non smoking or smoking at first place before booking the Cat 6 to Cat 1!!!!!

Why us in starboard that we are not smoking at all. Not fair.

I emailed to dcl now and ask for swap over as I know it is full now. But surely if people who prefer smoking can swap over my room. I will be very happy to have non smoking side.

Dont think I am complain or moan because we pay out lot of money for this room.

Scottishwee35:sad2:

Hey guys woke up and couldn't go back to sleep, came out to read the dis and turned on Martha Stewart.... and what was she making? Chocolate covered Matzo!!!!!!! How funny is that?

Gaylean, I would definitely bring your own conditioner. The stuff they give you is fine for "daily" use, but if you need a serious conditioner, it's not going to cut it. I have super curly/frizzy hair, also (I've had it "japanese straightened" so you might not really notice) and I have to use Humectess to keep it tamed down.

We bring conditioner and baby powder, everything else is available there.

Wow, I don't even remember this! This is not the view I had at all!

It's the view as you walk in the door (for those who weren't there)

I decided to have the boys wear their captain outfits for semi-formal night, as opposed to wearing it a random night AND bringing suits. Seems so much easier. I can't TELL you all how much more relaxed I am having all the boys stuff packed (except their PJs, socks, undies, and non-clothes). I have to order one new captain outfit for my 10 year old. And the most exciting news: all the tuxes still fit!! I have to let the hem out of the oldest, but other than that - good to go! I think I will go on line to order DH's tuxes in the next day or so. Sometimes I write these posts and think...these people don't care about all this!! But then I think...I love reading their plans. Good to find other OCD people out there that have been planning this cruise for 15 months and now are suddenly in a state of panic because we don't have enough time!!! So I know you all can relate when you get something checked off that list...doesn't it feel great!
Lisa

Yes, we get it!

Ok... so here's the deal...

I got sick 2 weeks ago... & I feel guilty... big time...

You don't want to be stuck in your room sick. Or get everyone else sick. Last year everyone got the plague on the Magic and we were so sick that when I flew home my ear drum got a blood clot behind it and was plugged up for 8 weeks. Now it has scar tissue on it. So, get well and let the guilt go with a sincere apologie to the folks.

LANYARDS!!!!I'm SO jealous!!!!

soon, soon, soon

I didn't get permission to posts pics of the kids so here is one of mine.

Picture019.jpg

That's a great pic of you guys, I got a great one of the 4 girls together, but it has that girl who isn't supposed to be posted in it - if it wasn't digital I'd tear her out. :cutie: :rotfl: I'll send it to the moms on email.

I'm going to get some beauty sleep now to prepare for our long trip tomorrow. Have a good night. I will check in before we take off tomorrow morning. :surfweb:

Good luck Angie!

I want my lanyard now too...they look nice.

It's coming...

Oops! Forgot to answer "what's wrong with DH!" Yes to both! We have a 2 year old, so someone has to be there. Lucky for me he doesn't drink! He says he has used all his drink tokens.

Who is doing a banner? Any word whether we can have Disney stuff on it and Kinkos print it??

Funny, Last year a group got together in Florida and painted it, then rolled it up and brought it to the port.

DSC04313Resized.jpg

How cute Brooke looks! You have our permission...although I don't remember any pics being taken (well, other than the one I took of you guys with your camera). We even brought our camera and I don't think it was used. Oh well. At least it was fun!

I got two pics -- too busy talking

I know, it's good to have someone to draw near, especially in the beginning. It can be so hard for kids.

So, did that pizza make you thirsty? I could drink a gallon of water. It was good, but I cannot believe that family size one was $43!!! WOW!!!

We had the $47 pizza too. It didn't taste any better than a $37 pizza.

My sign language ASL is very rusty, and it's hard for me without the facial expression and hand movement, but from what I can tell it is not a sentence.

They are individual random signs, some words, letters and possibly numbers (like help, you, "O", "F" or "9" )

I really depend on the body movement that goes along with it.

Not sure if Deb's DH Ian can read it. But I know that BSL is very different from ASL.

No time to say much, headed out to church in a few minutes, but guess what was the first thing Tyler did when he woke up this morning. He said, "Well, I gotta pack some more"! :rotfl:

The potential buyers from CA did fly up and look at our property today. I am really trying to not get my hopes up, but....I really HOPE this is the right person.

:thumbsup2 Sending you lots of pixie dust and prayers for a quick sale. May your retirement begin soon.

A good day today, even though most of it was again at the hospital.

Manuel continued to improve all day, came off of medications, stopped bleeding, and . . .

OPENED HIS EYES!

Thanks to everyone for all of your well wishes and prayers!

John, that's great news!!

OK, something very crazy just happened that I've never experienced. After sending Lisa (DL5) a PM, I tried to click on an old PM to see if I could start deleting some old ones, but instead of going to the PM I was taken to the "Unofficial DIS troublemakers" message board! Then I clicked my "back" button and tried to click on page 2 of my PMs....same result. I went back to our thread and tried to click on "Post Reply" with the same result. Tried to click "Quote" to reply to a post.....SAME RESULT. What the heck?! I've never even heard of that board, so are the DIS mods trying to tell me something? :rotfl: I ended up shutting down my computer and restarting and it's fine now. Strange, huh? Or maybe I'm hallucinating! :lmao:

How strange! I signed off last night before that started happening.

The potential buyers from CA did fly up and look at our property today. I am really trying to not get my hopes up, but....I really HOPE this is the right person.

Good luck!

Ok... so here's the deal...

I got sick 2 weeks ago... it turned into bronchitis and I've been coughing my brains out ever since then... I'm sleeping really crappy (not getting to sleep until dawn most nights - I just can't sleep when I feel this bad...) I'm on antibiotics, an inhaler, cough meds with codeine and my mom is making me slather on enough Vicks to suffocate a small country...

& this is my quandry....

I'm supposed to go down to Jersey tomorrow to work... it's not my regular job... I fill in from time to time for a friend at their family company because their son has Cerebral Palsey and when he's off from school, she has to take off.

Usually I've got no problem... but I'm not kicking this yet and I just know that if I push it's going to just make it worse for me and I'm afraid it's going to get worse...

My brain is telling me to stay here at home and go back to the Dr. on Monday... so I have to call my friends and tell them I cannot come down. Which means that they have to get a temp, which is fine, but they won't have coverage until they can send someone...

& I feel guilty... big time...

But I do have a once in a lifetime cruise to go on in a couple of weeks and I'm afraid if I get to the port sick, they are going to turn me away and I'm going to get stuck waving goodbye to you and my mom (cause she ain't gettin off if I have anything to say about it...) from Grills...

Somebody tell me to stay home... please...

And Angie... can you write me a note... I don't think I'm going to make it to school on Monday... :teacher:

Stay home! You need your health more than anything else! I know I'd feel bad too, but you can't risk getting any sicker.

Just a quick post from me. We're going into Manhattan to see a dance performance this afternoon, so I need to get ready! I loved the Dismeet pictures, and I can't wait to get our lanyards. They came out great!

morning! I went to bed at 9:30 last night!!!

The pics are great, everyone looks like they had a great time!

Bed at 9.30 V? Were you ill?

No time to say much, headed out to church in a few minutes, but guess what was the first thing Tyler did when he woke up this morning. He said, "Well, I gotta pack some more"! :rotfl:

He obviously doesn't take after you Holly!!!!!

No I was tired!!

John - that's great news about Manuel. Continued prayers he keeps on this upward journey!

Gaylean your kids are so cute! All the kids are cute!

Loved seeing the pixs, but sure wish I had a lanyard!

It's nice to put faces to names.

I guess I will be going to Marcy's today to try and get the tag removed off the shirt.
