I read the zip tour on the DCL site, but it doesn't say anything about the mule ride. Am I looking at the right thing??

Canopy Adventure
Experience the adventure of a lifetime during a high-flying zip-line ride across a tropical canopy in Sierra Madre.

Set sail on a short boat ride from the ship to a local marina station where you will debark and board a Mercedes all-terrain vehicle for your journey into the heart of Sierra Madre mountains. Featuring peaks over 12,000 feet, Sierra Madre is a breathtaking mountain range located in western Mexico and the United States southwest. Make your way — past tropical flora, desert terrain and gentle rolling hills — to a private eco-reserve deep in the forest, where towering trees, thick flora and rocky climbs provide a picture-perfect panorama in nearly every direction.

Following your 50-minute drive, meet and greet an experienced guide and take in a safety demonstration as you prepare for your high-flying jungle adventure. Then, suit up and hold on tight as you are whisked away from treetop to treetop via a network of pulleys mounted at a height of 90 feet above the forest ground. Zip along 11 horizontal lines — including a thrilling 1000-foot long traverse — as you journey from platform to platform and marvel at the vast array of wild orchids and native birds from your incredible perch. Hold on tight and feel the rush of wind in your face, and experience the thrill of this one-of-a-kind adventure. After your approximate two-hour adventure, sit back, relax and lose yourself to the captivating sights of Puerto Vallarta as you embark on your return trip back to the ship.

Outdoor Adventure
Experience the adventure of a lifetime where soaring hundreds of feet high in the sky above an unspoiled jungle canopy is only the beginning.

Skim the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean — past scenic seaside views and captivating coastal terrain — and journey south by speedboat across Banderas Bay to the secluded shores of Boca de Tomatlan, at the edge of the jungle. Once there, prepare for an exhilarating all-terrain vehicle ride as you board a comfortable 4x4 Unimog and take off on an exciting off-road expedition to your base camp, 2000 feet above sea level in the heart of the Sierra Madre jungle. During your drive, make your way through mountain streams and across bumpy backwoods terrain — past traditional settlements — and marvel at the unspoiled splendor that surrounds you everywhere you look. After your hour-long drive, receive your equipment and take in a safety demonstration before taking off on a fun mule ride as you continue your trek up the mountain into the sub-tropical forest.

Following your 20-minute ride to the top of the mountain, gear up and hold on tight as you are whisked away from canyon side to canyon side — above the tree tops — via a network of pulleys mounted at a height of up to 250 feet above the ground. Zip along the lines and marvel at the amazing sights from your bird's eye perch. Feel the rush of wind in your face during your 1000-foot long zip line journey, known as the highest and longest zip line in all of Mexico. Following your high-flying expedition, hike along secret paths and get lost in the picturesque panorama of verdant flora that surrounds you at every turn. Rappel down refreshing waterfalls, stroll across steep jungle bridges and splash through streams and natural river pools during this one-of-a-kind adventure. After your three-hour visit, arrive back at your base camp for a beverage and snack before beginning your approximate 90-minute journey — by Unimog and speedboat — back to the ship.

Kathe - this is the one that I'm going to do...with Lisa, Scott and Jill

I just watched the Magic sail away.....14 more weeks and we'll be on there!

I'm going to sign off now....need to go get ready for my dinner with my cousins from Argentina....they leave tomorrow for Miami, then home.

Will check in w/ everyone tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good night.

Kaylee,

Did you do your training in Portland? I worked with two people who were going to school there. I thought about it, but was older than the average student by then. I was working inpatient at the PVMC at that time. I have always been interested with Naturopathy and Homeopathy. The owner of the agency I work through has a Full Compounding
Pharmacy and also does compounding of Veterinary, Homeopathic and Naturopathic medications. He has a beautiful lab and a full line of H&N meds on his shelves at the Pharmacy. He is also a Certified Counseler in those areas. Fascinating Niche in our field.

No, I did my training here in Seattle at Bastyr. I was accepted to National (the Portland one) but in moving across the country by myself at 21 I decided that having relatives close was better (they lived about 45 min from school). And...I doubt you would have been the oldest there...you should have done it!!!! The average age of my class was 48....and there I sat at 21:confused3 Do you do compounded meds yourself? I use a lot of compounded T3 (not the tylenol with codeine) and hormones in my practice.

ok it looks good, but I'm feeling bad about leaving Paul and the kids for the day. I need some words of encouragement...yes I remember I'll be with them for the other 14+ days I'll need some alone time...ok, I'm good.

Drum Roll .....

I lost 3.5 pounds this week!! :woohoo:

... I put on 50lbs when Tiffany was in the hospital (nerves or something since I don't remember eating much those 2.5 years) ... and am finally trying to get it off ... I am really motivated to "just do it".

I am heading for the treadmill and will check in a bit later.

:tinker: Karen

Great job:woohoo:
Just catching up, sounds like your family has been through some very tough times:hug: That's wonderful that Tiffany has been in remission for 4 years:hug: Lots of hugs and prayers being sent for continued good health for all of you.

Kathe

No offence to Paul or the kids but....

COME WITH US!!

WOW guys!! My heart is really going out to ... so many of you ... today!!

My oldest Tiffany is "in remission" (and has been for 4 years) from Leukemia ... praise God!!

In addition to her 2.5 years of in-hospital treatments, we have struggled thru so many challenges ... medical, cancelled vacations, etc. ... that I am reading about. Please know that I am seriously praying that everyone's situation works out for the best (and I know that we do not always know what "the best" is, so I confidently leave it in hands much greater than mine). :cloud9:

I will say that we went our first DCL cruise as our celebration of her "end of treatment" and it was so truly WONDERful, we decided to book the MAGIC for 14days as a truly "once in a lifetime" family memory ... and it was!! :cheer2:

... well here we are ... everyone is still happy and healthy ... and we going again (even tho it means juggling our family finances and cutting back in other areas) because our priority right now is to share this time together before they are all off to college or whatever life may have in store.

I believe Family Vacations (and I am talking all families, in every shapes/sizes, whether blood related or friendships and everything in between), and making memories to last a lifetime, are so important!! (In fact, that is the name of my travel company)

I am sending some Pixie Dust to everyone that the challenges can be met ... or at least somewhat overcome. I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone onboard!! :grouphug:

Karen: What a great post! Congrats to Tiffany! :cool1: I did my undergrad "thesis" in the ped oncology unit at UConnMC. Those kids showed me so much energy, love and taught me about having a great attitude. Was one of the greatest experiences in my life.

I totally agree with making memories to last a lifetime. Our vacations are very important to us. Live for the moment!

This cracked me up. Reading on this blackberry I read this to say "I lost thirty five pounds this week. I was like what did she do cut off an arm or a leg.

Great job 3.5 pounds is AWESOME and you still have all your arms and legs.

All appendages still attached ... but that is an interesting weight loss strategy!!

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, I have done quite a few already. LOL. Not really careers though. I like any of these:

Commercial Photography
Musician
Avionics Engineering
Computer Science
Linguist
Pro Quarterback

Was the last one that you have done already? And for what team would you want to play?!

Yes, and if we have a group from the DIS that goes over there, I'd love to join them, or anyone can join us...either is good. I just think it would be more fun with a group of DISers!

I'm following along on that one...oh and the beach one in Cabo:thumbsup2

I've never been to Key West and really want to go.
We spent a few nights in Key West and had a lovely time. Ate at some very nice restaurants and took a tour of the Hemingway House.

Woody

I would rather book it through DCL. I know there's a savings doing it on your own, but because this excursion involves a boat, a truck and mules, I'd rather be going through DCL...just in case one of those three fail and we can't get back to the ship in time...and especially since I'll be separated from my family and Kaylee and Scott's girls will be on the ship.

Lisa already answered, but yup! Anyone here def. staying on board in PV? Would love an on board contact for the girls just in case......
