Well the GS-13 position fell through. Was very, very disappointed at first. Then I was told I am going to be offered a GS-14 position! Sweet - they are going to grandfather my 6 years of active duty and the past three years I have been on contract. This means on top of all the benefits and stability (which is what I was most excited about), I will be receiving a raise in pay! Nice little cherry!

Received a call late, late last night from Shawn. I was way off on the time-line for the store opening. It really opens tomorrow morning at 9am. Hence the reason he will be coming home on Saturday - yes I am not always on top of everything. They had their Grand Opening Gala last night at Ala Moana and it apparently was a huge success. The store is suppose to be beautiful and the fashion show was in his words "hot". Says he has been working non-stop while he has been there, but after 26 days in Hawaii, I imagine he will be arriving home very tan! Jerk:love: !

I called and I asked if I could request a certain time for dinner. He said yes but there is no guarantees but would probably get what I wanted. I told him I wanted 6:00 and he said ok and I said do you know what dining rotation that is and he said he could figure it out. He came back and told me it was APL. I then posted and told everyone and they say that APL is usually 5:30 so now I'm second guessing this. The strange thing is that he was really polite and even gave me info about the formal nights and deck parties and I didn't even ask him about that.

Thanks Gaylean....I wish we had talked to him. Our CM was not the nicest. I did learn one thing though, we should be calling the CC number. I keep forgeting about that. After the time I posted, I read what everyone was saying that the rotations were requests and not quarantees, so I guess that is the difference. It really does seem that it makes a big difference which CM you talk to, and they all do not have or share the same information....Vicki

Kelly and I keep telling you that you can cruise with us, there's a cat 4 that keeps coming up, and you don't even have to do the lanyards!

Thanks for the invitation gydell - I wish we could. But if we cruised one more time without DD Staci, we would have been in real trouble. :rotfl2:

Well, I just got off the Wonder. My rotation was PTA and our dining time was 6 p.m. every night. If the Magic matches the time then Parrot Cay has the latest time on the 1st night.

Jackie,
Did you request a certain time for our dining? Just curious.

I had a request on my original reservation before linking...I'll double check to make sure it's still there.... 8PM seating

If you have lumier's on a night that isn't formal do you dress nicer than you would at the other restaurants? If so, what would you wear?

You dress for the theme, not the location.

Well, our computer crashed, so don't think I'll be getting in any overtime tonight....just as well, I can have a nice dinner and be all set to watch the LOST repeat from last week then the new episode.

Off to check my DU reservation and double check on dining request.....

V, you are in planning mode today aren't you, I love it!

I did my passport on Monday, took less then 10 minutes with the on-line passport app, the nice lady said two weeks. I also hit the drug store and picked up the breath-right strips, more gravol, and sunscreen. I am getting kind of worried about formal nights, I might just eat up stairs, I am not really looking forward to dressing up, since I don't have cute dresses. I did see a couple of cute dresses on Avenue, but they really aren't dressy enough, will have to see what is avaliable when I get to Buffalo in May.

Pj

PJ, do what I do--long black skirt or long black crepe pants, rayon or silk top, scarves, dangle earrings. I like it simple!

wow, you will talk to us with ASL as we will have two interpreters on this Cruise. That is right, we use BSL, and I have been trying to understand ASL. Last Med Cruise, we had so much fun with two interpreters and we are hoping to have them again.

Please don't get your hopes too high. My ASL is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very rusty. Which is too bad, because when I was younger I was quite fluent in sign.

GREAT NEWS on your job upgrade, Leslie! :yay: Also great news about the success surrounding the store opening in Hawaii. :woohoo:

Very sharp, indeed!

We have a lot of ancestors from Scotland. The strongest line if from my mother - Clan Johnston, which is the tartan we wear. We also have a slightly smaller percentage of Clan Rose.

If we're going to wear ethic garb, I'll make sure to pack a traditional babushka to go along with the tux and make sure I bring along a traditional shopping bag and roll my socks down. I must have some shopping bags that have been handed down from generation to generation. Probably ones my grandmother smuggled out of Russia when she was running away from the Cossacks.

Actually, I'm more comfortable in pants. On our last cruise, I wore pants for formal night. I have a nice pair of fancy black pants and I just bought a really formal looking top - they have so many at Nordstroms and Macys. I was perfectly comfortable and didn't feel out of place with DH in a tux. We both were in black and white and it was so nice to feel comfy too!

All my formal outfits are pants.

I have some tops I bought at Chicos over the years (on sale & w/coupons) that I mix up w/my black pants and skirts for "dress up". Comfort is the key!

I hear you, in my 20's I could do aerobics for two weeks and drop 10lbs...not so now!

Oh V, just wait 'till you get to 40...and 50...and...:lmao:

This is a good question for those that have cruised before. How many times would you wear a dress? I'm trying to cut down on what I bring so I thought I would try to wear all my dinner clothes a few times. I won't wear them during the day, just to dinner and after if I need to.

You'll be seeing my dressy outfits more than once, I guarantee!:thumbsup2

Here's a cool picture to show you just how trickey it really is to get that ship docked at Castaway Cay.

Gotta get it right in that dark blue spot!

Oh, forgot to mention yesterday. I got my official rejection letter from that law firm where I applied last month. Oh well.....plenty more opportunities will come along. :thumbsup2 Besides, as stressed out as I've been, I can't imagine the added stress of learning a new job.

VERY cool picture. Makes me wish I was there now. (On the sand of course, not hovering hundreds of feet above it).

On a serious note. I'm interested in knowing how many of you managed to swing the time before and after the cruise?

It dawned on folks today that I was going to be gone for 2 weeks. I added, "Yeah, I'll be on a ship in the Ocean too, so no phone, not unless you want to call me ship-to-shore and bear the charges."

So, how did you guys manage the time off?
