Was anyone on here actually flying on 9/11 day? I was on an international flight from Australia to Vancouver that day, it happened when we were in the air. Once we landed in Vancouver, we had to wait 5 hours on the plane, as they were searching each plane before they allowed us to get off. Then our luggage was unaccessible, and I was stranded in Vancouver for 2 nights, as no flights were leaving. All hotels were taken so I was adopted by some girls in their mid 20s who came to the airport to offer their home for stranded travelers.

It was a nightmare, long lines, people crying all over the airport, phones tied up for ages. I was pregnant at the time (and traveling alone) and ended up fainting in line to check in the day they started flying again. Of course, all flights were booked solid out of there but you should have seen the people jump around once I passed out. They put me on the first available flight out (bumped someone else) and I got to wait in the VIP area with personal service and all.

It was a memorable experience for sure, one I would not like to repeat. And I look at these regulations in place now and while they are a pain, I still vividly remember being at the airport and on the plane that day, wondering if our flight would be the next one hit. . .

Just my 2 cents.

I flew on Sept 10 to St. Louis for a conference. I was on the planning committee so came in a day early. Needless to say most attendees did not make it in. I could not get home until Sunday. Life changing day for us. Since then Dennis and I have never been further apart than we can drive. If I traveled for work, he took time off and we paid for him to go along. We had several fun trips after that, Clearwater, FL, Indianapolis and one to Washington DC where Dennis had not yet visited. The lesson we learned is that anything is ok if we are together, but being separated and not knowing when we would be reunited or what would happen in the meantime was not ok.

I think I know what the problem is.

This past weekend, my web hosting company made some changes that went wrong.

The net is that they had to move my Mouse Manager site from one server to another.

What this meant was www.mousemanager.com was pointing to another IP address behind the scenes.

Whenever a change like this is made, it is broadcast across the internet worldwide, sort of like a change of address postcard, saying, "Hi there, I now have a new IP address."

This process is called "propagating". For whatever reason some internet providers process these address changes faster than others.

If you are seeing the "Account Suspended" it means that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has not yet made the address change, so when you type in www.mousemanager.com it is hitting the old IP address rather than the new one.

That is why PJ and I get to the right pages when we type in www.mousemanager.com and other people here have reported that they aren't.

All this propagating is supposed to be more or less transparent to us folks.

All I can say is be patient and try again later. As soon as your ISP processes the change, you will be able to get to the site.

I can't say I am happy about this whole issue that suddenly reared it's head, but there's not much I can do about it.

Everyone, please let me know if you have any questions.

I'm in!!!

It was very sad day, never forget it.

As 7 months before that happened, My husband and I went to New York for my 40th. We went up to tower and right top.:scared1: I was scared and thinking about earthquake!! My husband was video and it was snowing that times. There were cafe and pizza, I beg him that we went back down and doing some shopping.

7 Months later I was off work with flu and I saw it on the tv and saw second flight. I was so shocking. Unbelieveable!!

Now I want to go back to New York next year for Xmas shopping with 3 friends. I am thinking to organise about it. Saving up now.

9/11 was a very tough one for us. I lived in NJ then - right outside of NYC... there isn't anyone I know that wasn't involved. They were either killed, injured, responded, rescued, cleaned up and investigated the tragedy. The eeriest part was the days after when you went past the train stations in town and all the cars were still left... you knew that they belonged to people who weren't coming home.

Jolene... there is a wonderful book about the people who had to fly into Gander New Foundland on 9/11 on the way to the US and how a small town took in so many people...

Amazon has it... I got it out of the library...

Hey Michelle,

That book looks really good, thanks for the link. I'll have to buy it for my trip! It's nice to see a few positive stories from that day.

I was amazed at the generosity of the girls I stayed with. They loaned me clothes, fed me, let me use their phone and gave me rides to the airport each day. I never forgot their generosity to open their homes for a complete stranger. I'm sure it couldn't have been easy, you never know what kind of stranger you are letting in your house. I sent them a thank you package when I returned to Australia but it couldn't match their help they gave me when I so desperately needed it!

It actual reminds me to be thankful! We kept his boarding pass as a reminder.

Drew is flying high today. I just picked him up and he was wearing a paper crown and he is amped up! His party is on Thursday (it's a half day at school, so big brother can come) at Pump It Up, one of those indoor bouncy house places. I think Sophia had her party there also.

Aren't they so cute when they celebrate at school and are so proud! :goodvibes And guess what Lisa...Tay had her party there too, surprised?! :lmao:

I have a question for those of you that have a Disney Visa. How long does it take for the rewards card to come once you request it? I'm trying to decide...should I order it now or wait until next month (want to rack up as many rewards as possible :goodvibes )? Thanks!

How did I not know that? For her 6th? Did we talk about that? Are you sure we weren't seperated at birth?

Well, we're off to get Drew's soccer cleats...first practice is tonight at 5.

I think it was the generosity of people in this world that made the day bearable... it certainly did for us.

When I got one last it took about a week... once you have the card you can keep the same one and they just add your current points to the account (you have to call them to add them, though...)

Kelly - Just tell Brent that you saw the gingerbread man there. Thanks! Is today your D-Day with kindergarden? I think you said Monday but not sure which one.

Heard from the first school, we are in the wait pool. No surprise - there were 11 spots for 135 applicants - it was the school I was teaching at this morning. Wait pool means she was accepted, but there are no spots available for her unless someone else drops out or says no. I don't expect any slots to open. We'll hear from the next school within a couple of weeks, then we are on plan B.

Horrifying stories about 9/11

Can you send that across the northern border too! It is snowing like mad here - just when I was really thinking spring had sprung. Woke up to several inches of the stuff and it is still coming down quite heavily!!

I will work on that!

Very good point Angie. Last year, Scott and my dad were in Vegas for CES and Mom and I decided to take the girls there for the weekend to see them. We got to the airport early and I asked if we could have our flight time bumped up and sure enough, we were able to move our flight to the earlier one (big mistake). We were all set above Vegas...saw the strip...and all of sudden we saw black...the pilot came on, the flight attendants were crying (not very professional) and we were told that there was a problem with the landing gear and they gave those talks you dread...this is what you are going to do etc....I was in between the girls and mom was in front of me. All I thought the whole time we were landing was that Scott was never going to forgive me if something happened to me and his girls!:scared1: We landed safely and the gear lasted enough time to slow the plane down and not have us turn into a fireball...we landed out in the middle of nowhere at the airport surrounded by emergency vehicles and such. 3 hours later we were allowed off the plane (after the FA had freely given out all the alcohol on the plane:lmao: ). Thankfully, we flew home with Scott so at least we were together. Of course all this talk the day before Scott and I leave for Mexico without the kids :scared1:

Yup for her 6th and I think we were!!! :lmao:

So, not sure if I posted here or not but on the EB TransAtlantic repo I bought the big fig of the Fab Five at CC, well guess what arrived on my doorstep this morning -

AND ONLY 8 MONTHS LATE!!!!!!!!!

Add this to another round of "Disney Dropped the Ball!!!"

:scratchin Wonder if it had anything to do with my sincerest and most urgent request for a refund 5X??????? :confused3

Although I will admit - it has taken them longer than most stores or merchants that I've bought stuff for. Must be the layers of pixiedust: that makes for hard of hearing! ;)

Oh well, with my luck - it will be probably be broken when I open it. Off to see.

Did you notice she said WE are invited. I think I'll wear black pants with a dressy white shirt. What are you wearing?

I unfortunately will be on a flight back to Orlando at that moment :sad2:

Lisa - got mine within 3 weeks start to finish. I was especially surprised at the amount of credit Disney decided to give me - they should have done me a favor and given me a $700 limit. But no! :sad2: They want ALL my money - with some blood to go along with it! :lmao:

Be careful what you wish for!
