I was given a book today, The Panama Canal, by Bob Considine. Written for the school age child. She discovered that our library is limited in information on the panama canal, so she's going to do some research on kid friendly books.

My daughters teacher has given me the ok to use this report/power point as her may book report. So we are a go.

Maybe we should have a "school" day on the canal day? Whaddaya think? We can do the whole report on canal day up on the deck of the ship. Brainstorming with the kids, taking pictures of the locks. Writing up the presentation on paper? Not too long, but with all the kids participating, we should have the infomation for the report quickly. I'll volunteer to read up about the canal and I'm sure there are other adults who are canal buffs who'd help guide the discussion?

Molly got a pair of Tink jeans from a friend yesterday, she got them at Disney store 60% and when I looked they were all gone, well, they didn't fit her, so she was returning them, but I said STOP!!!! Molly would love them, and she sure did! $15 for the jean that retailed over $65

We've been to Club 33 several times. We are usually guests of "a friend of a friend." I never learned who the member is.

This time there is a group of 16 going for lunch. One person had to cancel, so they invited my DW. If someone else cancels tomorrow, I'll say, "I'll go." If not, I'll get stale rolls thrown off a balcony.

Must be nice, My brother went once when one of his clients treated him. Cost is too much for me to be able to get in there on my own. Hopefully one day some one will be very very nice to me and treat me to a meal/drink there! Enjoy and hope you at least get a roll!

My boss is gone today ...a vacation day for him, but really a vacation day for me! I have gotten so much done in the hour I have been here, because he's NOT HERE . It's awesome.

I just had to post my happiness.

DGS has enlisted DrHug and I to chaparone school dance tonight. DGS chose to organize a dance with Techno music for his Senior Project. (he said he and his friends do not like to go to the dances because they always play Hip Hop ) Money earned will be donate to the band program. He has done a great job, got a very popular DJ from local radio station for only $200, got many donations from local businesses. Free printing for the tickets, etc. So, DrHug will take a few photos for DGSs presentation that he will have to put together after, I will sell cookies or water or man (woman) the auction table or whatever he needs me to do. He said we would just need to be prepared to listen to 3 hours of Techno music. I'm not sure what that means, but......

Thanks for the bday wishes for Bubba. He was going to post his thank you's to everyone last night, but he forgot his password and could not log on.

I will be right there with you at GS. I thought the flower idea might not fly. Maybe we could do something on secret deck 7, in the am before we go ashore. I like the poem idea, and maybe everyone who wants can share a memory that we each have of our mothers.

It's a date then, GS after drill.....I'll see you there! I LOVE secret deck 7 before going ashore. I think that's perfect and beautiful. I love the poetry and stories of memories. If they will allow it, I would like to light a candle for my mom.....it's a very big thing in the Greek religion and mom used it in her wedding ceremony to Ray, my stepdad. They might allow us to do this. We'll ask. It'll be a very nice tribute to their lives and for anyone else who wants to share remembering their lost moms.....John1.....any others.

Not a good time of the year to pass the hat here. Spring time seems to be fundraiser time for everyone. Think the hat has made it rounds so often not much left to give but HEY you wanna buy some girl scout cookies?

We spoke to our 4th grade's teacher today and broke the news of the cruise. She was great. We talked about making a powerpoint presentation on the panama canal, and we might tie in information on the Gold Rush, as that is what he is studying. Does anyone have any plans on having their kids do a report? I was thinking that it would be fun for them to do a group project. So any 4th graders that might be interested, let me know! We are telling our kids on Easter. After Easter, for whoever is interested, maybe they can start to do a little research before the cruise? I can take responsiblity of the power point. All the kids could then use the same one. Figure we can try to finish a lot of it before the cruise, and then add pictures from the cruises.

I'm on my 4th day of the juice fast/feast thing. Not sure what to say about it at this point. Lisa

That is too funny!!! When my daughter was little, she kept saying 'Z' and not Zed because of playhouse disney channel!! Took us a lot of reeducation also..



OMG!!!! And here in Australia, a famous brand of beer is called XXXX (Four X), which apparently has a similar problem to 'eraser'....we have to be so careful when we go overseas not to accidentally say something really rude.....

Leanne (ozdisneyfan) - I just had to share some of my funny memories of my first few months in Australia. When I first went to Australia, I thought that the XXXX stuff was really, super-duty, bad "Adult" stuff. I thought Australia was one up on the USA "Adult" stuff because they had an extra X!!!!

And once when I went to the grocery store with my host family in Australia, I asked where the pop was. They told me later they thought I was asking about some type of drug.

But my favorite was when I filled up my car at a gas station and I asked them if they had a bathroom I could use. The guy replied, "No, we just have a toilet/loo." I was like What??? I later found out that in Queensland, most people consider a bathroom as having a shower or bathtub in it, otherwise it is just a toilet or loo. I guess the guy thought I was wanting to take a shower or something. . .

Gotta love it!

MY FIRST SERIOUS POST - Not that you do not have enough to organize but....on our November 2005 cruise, we had a "kids meet event" for the kids mostly in school. Each kid brought postcards from thei state or local area. On the back of the postcard a greeting was writtten, many inlcuded the state birds, motto and other news. We had a map of the US (for this cruise it owuld need to be the world) and part of the fun was to see how many states could be colored in - many children had not met so many others from different parts of the states. This information was then used in a school report. Most folks went to the local Dollar stores for postcards. There were not as many Dissers and I participated (no kids) and my cards were generic views of Florida - flowers, fish, dolphins, views of the city etc. It was fun to see the little ones going around and exchanging post cards. Webistes list the various songs, mottos, mascots of the state and some folks printed these and pasted them to the back. A screen name was included for reference. Just a thought - it could be a kids scrap book - or authograph book, along with greetings from the kids friends they meet on the cruise. I still have my postcards somewhere.

I really like the idea of having an autograph book/small scrapbook that the kids can collect other kids' signatures and about where they all are from. It would be a great souvenir for the kids to take home and look at later.

I thought deck 7 would be perfect. This is my first time to CC and I think the ship backs in, doesn't it? What a perfect back drop for the start to a wonderful and memorable day. I also like the candle idea. Perfect to signify that they have left a light on in our hearts.
