I just got an AP rate at the DL hotel for $179 a night.

Gydell are you going to go to the park on Sunday or wait until Monday? I'm still trying to decide if we should come right home (I know we should) or stay a day or two. If I wait long enough there will be enough of a fare difference that the decision will be made for me.

I also think that the AP rates I've seen people quote are much lower than the AAA rate. It looks like you would come out about flat if you got one DL AP and was able to get the DLH AP rate, and a bit more ahead if you could get Paradise Pier.

There are no AP rates for the GC I was told last night.

I would like to go into the park and walk around and get familar with the layout and maybe do a ride or two. Would like to see the parade too. Since I know how crowded it will be I am not planning on getting too much done. My DGS is dying to ride the double ferris wheel!
We are not leaving until Thurs. so we have time.

ok re DL tickets....if they take WDW passes....
John, Samantha and I have a WDW one day pass...which we will probably never use...thus I was going to turn those in and buy us one day park hoppers....for $263. a two day for Haley would be $112 for $375 (gosh that seems a lot!)
an AP deluxe is 259..not sure of the blackout dates though. And if it would give me any discount on the GC.....

On the dates we are there after the cruise there is an AP special that is only at Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel . So it would not give you a price break on the Grand Californian but it would make a room at Paradise Pier $200 cheaper a night then the GC. I believe the 25th is a blackout day on the cheaper passes BUT if you buy it then on that day it is ok to use it that day. What are you paying at Grand Californian (for what view) and how long are you guys staying?

ok I have reservations at GC two nights, standard room $745.20 + resort fees so total is $768.20 AAA rate which is the same as the DL AP rate. (that's almost a three day cruise!)

I called to check other rates....
GC AP rate is the same as what I have...

DL Hotel standard room $260, $234 AP/AAA rate so that would be $538.20 plus resort fee $561.20... gosh that is a lot still for two nights!

I called Paradise Pier and if you use the AP6 Promo for 2 nights May 25th and May 26th these are the prices:

city view room $388.70 plus taxes and resort fee($23) = $411.70

park view room $434.70 plus taxes and resort fee ($23) = $457.70

At Disneyland Hotel the only rooms they have available for these dates now they say are:
dtd view or pool view upper level floors $214 a night
lowel level floor rooms $207 a night

If I have to choose from Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier I pick Paradise Pier as it is so much closer to the park. You can get someone from the boards to book your room in your name on the AP rate and you would save $350 bucks going to Paradise Pier versus Grand Californian. I go to Disney a ton and have an AP and really I only do GC or PP. That way I can walk to and from the hotel to the parks. GC is a super nice hotel BUT PP is by no means motel 6 in any way. It is still a really nice hotel and my kids like the lilo and stitch breakfast they have in the mornings so we stay there a lot.

I can't remember who I was checking for on the scuba diving, but my good dis friend Scott PM'd me back this information. He was on the PC Cruise May 2005 and is what I would call a professional in the field of scuba diving.

It is the cold Pacific. A full 5MM suit with gloves and hood is a minimum. Water temps should be in the 65 to 75 degree range and summer will not have the best visability, like around 25-60 feet depending.

Hope that helps.
Scott

They do cover your toes very well. I found these at Macy's. Tried them on right there :thumbsup2 Walked around a bit and was sold. You guys are right they are very comfortable.:goodvibes

add to list:

Go to Macy's to try on the ugliest shoes in the world, and buy them because so many DISers can't be wrong:lmao:

We are not wrong....RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

But lots of us do! As an AP holder I can book more then one room per night. I think they allow two per passholder per night. Heck I think a bunch of you guys could hook up and get rooms booked together. Would save a lot of money.

Also if you are going to be there a number of days it would still be cheaper to buy one pass for one adult in the family then get to use it for admission plus get the $169 per night room at paraidse pier. You know what I mean?

You could then use the pass for the 10% off dining too.

That is what we do. I have the premium pass that gives us the discount and the kids and Paul have the deluxe, we have only had to "buy" tickets for them once @ $30 more per day. Make a spreadsheet it will show the savings...

Thank you!!!!! I was booked at the DL hotel for $260 a night. I called and asked about the AP rate and got a rate of $179 for the same room. The pass is costing me $259(I got the one with black out days and as long as I don't get it until I arrive then I can use it on the 25th). With 2 more 4 day park hopper tickets my total came to $200 less than it was costing through AAA. And I get a discount on food!

Watch what pass you buy. The Deluxe (which I think you are referring too) may not offer the discount on the room. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK!!!

So many things I wanted to comment on from last night . . . just could not pass this one up though.

Nan,

True in 2002, but not true in 2008. Since Macs now run on Intel processors, Macs can run Windows as well as the Mac OS. Best of both worlds (Miley Cyrus of computers?:rotfl2:) if you really want it. PC magazine has rated Macs as the best laptops, and the towers are priced better than a Dell for the same performance. Any of those business apps will run on a Mac with Windows installed. My MS Office files are completely interchangeable with Office at work.

Don't mean to be on a soapbox. Hate to say it, but the people I have the most "fun" with on this issue tend to be the accountants I know . . .:rotfl2:
(You know I love ya Nan!)

Don't you take Miley's name and song in vain!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

You did see that I baited the response??? Hee hee hee....I kinda kicked that soap box didn't I? :rotfl:

Just fun to argue over things that aren't life threatening sometimes huh?

Seriously, I can't be bothered to go back to Mac again. Maybe when the kids need a laptop to lug around. But for me and Paul we have too many files and inter-connections into client networks (VPNs and the like) that when we find a good MIS person we choose not to piss him off with throwing a Mac into the mix. They are sexy, I get the pull. I'm just happy with the machine that works for me now. No need to dress it up in bedazzled underware....hmmmm maybe I'm talking about my husband here too???:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I could continue but this is a family board....

Shots Around The Ship - A Stem to Stern Extravaganza

I'm bringing over this posting from the previous thread ... just in case there are other thirsty people here ...

(Oh, and one update ... though no one except me really cares ... Mrs. Bennett has left in Alaska and is enroute to Chicago.)

--------

If you are interested in "Shots Around the Ship" (and no, I don't mean tetanus shots) please send me an email and I'll compile a list. We'll do it one evening after all the shows, entertainment, kids in bed, husbands in bed, wives in bed, whatever ...

Just shoot me an email (if you know my email address). If not (since I don't want to post it here), just go to my Mouse Manager site (http://www.mousemanager.com/contact/contact.php) and fill out the contact form.

Let's get this extravaganza going!

I find this to not encourage other men to join us???HAAAAAA just kidding, I know that isn't the intent, there are just a bunch of starving for bar-attention moms on this board that are BORED when it comes to staying in at 9pm....

BTW, Didn't Mrs. B make that move a day or so ago??? She must be walking to you???

Today I had the pleasure of dealing with Microsoft customer service on the phone. It is really too boring a story to tell (work issue with Micrsoft Outlook, upgrading from the trial to the real version that I had to get to sync my Blackberry) but boy, was I STEAMED!

They sent me to the Activation help guy, who was obviously not in the USA, and obviously reading from a decision tree script. Then he put me on hold to ask someone else, and came back with the same answer again, that I would have to take the product to my retailer (Best Buy) because they must have sold me an invalid license (right). I told him we obviously were not communicating, and he did not understand what I was trying to tell him (he kept parroting what he had said earlier). I then told him I guess I would just try to solve it on my own since he was no help at all. Which I then took my best guess - which worked.

I was also very frustrated with Microsoft's packaging at this point (I had to google how to open the package, and they actually have a page on their web site explaining how - how nuts is THAT?). And frustrated with their web site, that is so convoluted and poorly put together . . .

But what other option do we have??? Can you say monoploy???

Good Choice.

Is anyone here a heavy MS Outlook user? Outlook 2007?

Before this, I have always used Outlook Express for email, and Palm Desktop for calendar and contacts since I had a Treo. I like the integration of all 3, but Outlook is confusing me a bit with some of it's organizational structure. (Like why does Mail have an address book separate from your contacts, but when I look in it it is empty? Or, why do email addresses not automatically pop up in the "To" field when I start to type - UNLESS I have at some time selected that person and at least pretended to send them an email?) To solve the second problem, I did a fake email, selected my ENTIRE contacts list, then cancelled it, and now the To field populates.

Like I said, Outlook is confusing me - any insight would be appreciated.

Just talked to my MIS guy about this when I upgraded. It's a file. I can link you two in email if you want. let me know. I bet he'd tell ya, no charge ;)

Tips and Extras

I am thinking about adding money to our on board account now, for the extras on the cruise.

How much do you think the tips will run for the 15-nights?

(PS - I've had no updates on the whereabouts of Mrs. Bennett. All I know is that she's somewhere between Anchorage and Chicago. I've already cleared out a spot on the kitchen counter for her in anxious anticipation of her arrival!)

I'm glad to have been able to help you! It is funny how odd math adds up in our favor sometimes. So by buying more you spend less! I love my pass and it is a great excuse to plan trips to Disneyland. :lmao:

because with more trips we can lower the average cost of each trip, therefore making the pass pay for itself at a certain point. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I crack myself up!!!

When are you going down???

So how bad is it when your 8 year old is kicking your butt in Wii Sports bowling, and giving you advice on how to pick up spares?

no worse than your 5 (now 8 year old) year old telling you how to win a DS game...been there doing that....
