On a serious note. I'm interested in knowing how many of you managed to swing the time before and after the cruise?

It dawned on folks today that I was going to be gone for 2 weeks. I added, "Yeah, I'll be on a ship in the Ocean too, so no phone, not unless you want to call me ship-to-shore and bear the charges."

So, how did you guys manage the time off?

.

RETIRED!!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

PJ, do what I do--long black skirt or long black crepe pants, rayon or silk top, scarves, dangle earrings. I like it simple!

I have the top collection, lol. I have been looking for dressy/evening pants. Would have like to have one dress, but I am fine without. I did get a skirt to wear alternating with a nice pair of black pants.

Yeh, rub it in. :)

I get four weeks vacation and put in my request in DECEMBER of 06! Kept the approval e-mail from my manager too and kept reminding them. Then, once I actually GOT my reservation...well, they haven't had a moment's peace with me mentioning it about every day. :lmao:

2009.....FIVE WEEKS VACATION! Oh Yeah!

...time to head towards the old homestead.....

.

I looked at the calender and it doesn't make much difference anyway. I thought I would get a feel for what I need to pack but it seems the same no matter how the rotation is.

We managed to get the month of May off. We have rented a house in Florida to spend the week before the cruise and then will be spending a week in California at the Grand Californian. I will have to work like crazy before and after the vacation and somewhat while I am away as well but it is worth it to be able to have a month off. Our girls have been lucky enough to get the time off of school as well. They are in grades 1, 4 and 6. Their teachers are only requesting that a trip journal be kept while they are away.

See everyone very soon.

I'm freaking out about being gone for two weeks! I put that pressure on myself though. I don't think I could have pulled on any additional time.

We have been counting down to this vacation ever since we booked so I have been driving everyone crazy at work reminding them how many days are left until our vacation. Some of my staff aren't too happy because it will mean they pick up some of the slack but I am sure everyone will do just fine while I am gone.

I think I have managed to convince my boss that he can' do without me and he is afraid that I will retire if he doesn't give me the time. Maybe after these two + weeks he might find out he doesn't need me at all.:scared1:

I don't work outside the home but I can tell you right now my DH will be useless at work for a long time before we go. We took a ten day vacation last year and they sent him home early because he was annoying everyone!

He was released from the hospital today but is in so much pain that we couldn't go home yet. With a seven hour drive it is just too much for now.

Good news on him being released. Maybe in a day or two he can handle the ride.

Even the travel agents can't get your rotation for you. You can request and you can find out that if you get a certain dining time (which you will not find out until you check in at the port) what the rotation will be. But there are 6 dining times so you are just guessing. I don't know about cats 1-3.

We are category 3 and don't know our dining time (other than Main). We do not know our dining rotation either. We have our room number, that's it.

Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes to my husband after his operation. We are certainly looking forward to a better day tomorrow or at least in the near future. He has to go back some day to have the other knee done. Now that he knows how much pain is involved, it certainly won't be too easy to go back again.

Nan, how's Molly's knee doing today?

And Lisa, how's Frank today? Did you end up hiring a nurse to help care for him?

Continuing prayers for you and your family. Speaking of prayers, my mom's surgeon asked if we would like him to pray with us before surgery. Well, SURE! He prayed for guidance in his work and healing for her. How cool was that!

I love this, I have had several friends tell me this exact same story....how wonderful!!
