Because I'm home from work today, I had the opportunity to call Cruise Line Formal and inquire about the rental of tails.

It was really sort of funny. I asked about a Disney Cruise and said I was interested in renting tails, and the woman thought I want to rent a tail, as in rent a mouse tail.

The long and short of it is, they do not rent tails or cut-away jackets. Just what they show in their catalogue.

I'm rather disappointed. I was really looking forward to wearing tails. I had visions of a 1930's Hollywood movie.

This is what I had in mind:

Noel, we were all so worried about you! Thanks for letting us know what's been going on. Sorry about all you're dealing with right now. We'll all miss the chance to meet you on this cruise, but you just take care of your family and maybe we'll come across you on another cruise someday.

Your patience with Angel as amazing! She spills litter and you say "Gotta love her" I couldn't say that, let alone feel it. You are amazing.

How are you doing today with keeping the legs elevated and wrapped? Any trips to the pain center? Any hydrytherapy or other treatment needed?

Jan :earsgirl:

Legs are wrapped. I admit that I don't elevate them enough. Next appointment at the wound center is in one week. I only go once every two weeks on Mondays. No hydratherapy or any other treatments. Just keep them wrapped in the burn cream which worked on the wounds last time and get the boot for the edema. It's all good and it will work once it gets going.

No haven't been since my BDay last month, but I expect a DL visit soon for Bubbas bday which is the 27. So most likely next weekend.

We are both doing well. I 'm with you on the weight loss. I seem to be at a plateau. Even with walking everyday at lunch I am still the same. I even had to call bubba from my ww meeting on the 8th in tears because I need a pep talk. I had worked so hard that week and my weight in was exactly the same. Down to the 10th's. But he did what he does best and that's helping me look at the big picture. I think I'm putting to much pressure on myself to get into the outfits that I purchased.
Ok enough rambling. Thanks for listening.:flower3:

I am so GLAD BUBBA CAN HELP YOU FEEL BETTER! We are all proud of you too. :cool1: You are making many life changes.

I bet you have more energy than you used to. Did you ever even WANT to walk every day at lunch, let alone DO IT? But now you are doing it EVERY day. What a great life change that is!!

:thumbsup2 WAY TO GO. You are not just changing your eating, you are changing your whole life style and that takes time and energy. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!

Let us know about the outfits you had to get rid of because they are now too big and the ones from the skinny end of the closet that you can now wear!! Enquiring minds want to know and CELEBRATE with you.

Jan :earsgirl:

Read this fast and thought you said your brother was CAPTAIN AMERICA.

:cool1: WHOO WHOO

Rubbing elbows with greatness!! Captain America's sister is cruising with ME!!

but

A Captain for American Airlines is no small thing either!! I am impressed! I love to fly and am so appreciative of the pilots' abilities!

Jan :earsgirl:

Nothing that special. Wish it were true, though. My brother would tell you not to be too impressed. You should hear some of the stories from the cockpit. :lmao: I love to fly too but if I mention someone I know who is afraid he always tells me, just remember, the pilots want to get home as much as you do. He loves his job but he says it is not as glorious as it sounds. He sees a lot of airports and hotels. I think he is finding his latest routes a little more interesting, though, now that he flying to the Orient.

No those pilots aren't Captain America's. They just think they are Jedi Wars in the Skies!:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

No, that was when he flew for the Air Force. :rotfl:

Mine is off with the FAA doing his 6 month you bet your job test! Hoping to hear about noon how it went... always stressfull around when he has to do this.:scared: :rolleyes1

That can be a very stressful time for them.

OK!! I will check that out!

I went to Patrick's website and discovered he is supposed to be in Indy next month. I wrote to him and learned that he will be at a church. Not sure what we will do, have not talked to DH about it as it conflicts with our church.

But, he answered me back himself. He must have a voice on his computer to read him the e-mails or something. What a wonderful young man. What a great family to help him reach his goals. HECK--to help him realize that he could even HAVE goals!

Jan :earsgirl:

The parents talk in the beginning about their disappoint when he was born but then how they decided to treat him just like any other child. And he definitely doesn't see himself as any different than anyone else. The apartment that Ty did for him had all the latest technical equipment in it so that he could live on his own without the constant attention of his mother. His parents, as well as him and his siblings, are truly amazing people.

Dear friends:

This morning I picked up all of our accumulated mail at our neighbors who had been collecting it for us and saw the letter from Carol (pahrumpgil). This is just a brief note to thank everyone for their concern.

Finding this thread was confusing until I read about the new rules. I thought my DH has posted our status in the old thread but I guess not.

To everyone who has been worried about me, I am doing well. My DD Samantha developed a blood clot in her leg and lungs due to her use of birth control pills. She had been limping thinking she had pulled a muscle, had a deep tissue massage which made things worse.

A few hours before we were to fly home she was in so much pain that we went to the local ER. The life threating clots luckily were discovered before we flew home. She spent some time in the hospital in Orlando before we were able to take her home. She is on the mend but will be on Coumadin for at least 6 months to dissolve the clots. Her visits to the doctor now only consist of a weekly meeting at the Coumadin clinic to measure her INR levels.

Right after that my SIL became ill, so I needed to go help DD with him. She also need surgery on her nose for old scar tissue so I have not been home much. DH has been traveling for work since we returned home so he has not been able to be much help with family issues.

I had asked DH to post what was going on with our family but clearly though he said he did , he must have posted in another board. Since he is in Asia, I will have to check where he posted via email. Since I thought everyone knew, I have not been checking on the board here as we canceled this cruise for family reasons. With all my travels and issues, I been checking not been checking my email so if anyone has emailed me, please give me a few days to get caught up.

To add insult to injury, my main computer crashed and I will have to wait until DH gets home to get any info from the computer. The lists I was keeping were on that computer so if you guys need any info from me, please let me know. Right now I am using my notebook computer which is my travel computer and has very little information on the drive.

Sorry to miss all of you on this special cruise.

Warm Regards,

Noel

We

Noel,

So sorry to here about Samantha. Truly hope she continues to do better. We are all so glad to hear from you and know that you are all right. You have been mentioned on the thread almost every day. Sorry you will not be one of our table mates but understand family issues. Hope those all work out for the best. Sorry I won't meet you this time but perhaps on another cruise.

Carol

AN UPDATE....

Just to let everyone know who had very kind words for me about the situation with my father...

My best friend growing up (who lives in VA...) just emailed me to let me know that he would go with me to be, as he says it...."your bodyguard of sorts...." He also said that he hasn't seen my family in about 20 years or so and I mentioned that they would just probably talk about stuff that happened as we were all growing up... I told him to feel free to embarrass my siblings with any stories he may have... :rotfl:

So - so far it's good... Dad's situation hasn't changed too much... my sister hadn't heard back about treatment, but he isn't in the best of health and if they do chemo or anything I don't know how he will do...

I'm off to try and catch up on the other part of the thread... please try to not shut this one down before I get back!!!

:cool1: What a wonderful friend. Great that it is a guy too. I think those who want to be annoying are less likely to do so infront of a stranger, but when it is a person they know, who is a guy, they are even more likely to zip it.:thumbsup2

While this will be a hard event, this all should make it bearable.
You have a plan and you are going to work your plan.

Jan :earsgirl:

Hey there Holly, Glad to hear you had a good time at the rodeo. Boy, Tyler is pretty daring to ride the machanical bull. Way to go Tyler:woohoo: . Bubba's was just saying yesterday how quite is was on the thread and "where's Holly been?" Nice to have you back with us.
:rotfl: Well, it's nice to be missed!

Yes, Tyler loved the bull and the woman working it got a kick out of him and how he kept coming back for more! She kept increasing the speed and frequency of twists & bucking. She told me he looked so serious and she could tell how into it he was...a cowboy in the making, she said! ;) The mechanical bull came from a ranch about 2 hours away from us and it looks like an awesome vacation spot! They have a big indoor water park, a pretend old western town, horse riding with lessons, campfires w/smores, etc. We definitely are going there for our next vacation (after the cruise): www.doublejj.com.

Can you rent a tux with tails in Chicago and take it along?

Wow, that looks like a really cool vaction spot. Tyler will love going there. So would I for that matter. I've always wanted to do a western ranch vacation. don't know if I could be as daring as Tyler on the bull, but I could do the horse back anytime.;)

Can you DIS on a lap top in a recliner chair with your legs elevated or do you have to be lying down? If lying down, can you have the lap top there?

Jan :earsgirl:

AHHHH---are you going to make this one? Lovely embroidery!!

Jan :earsgirl:

I can't sew, but I agree it is beautiful She has put some ideas for embroidery and even says to paint designs.

I was just searching for ideas.

Looks a lovely place for a vacation.

Still trying to catch up. On page 239 of the last thread. :lmao: Tyler ended up not taking a nap, just laid there with his eyes 1/2 closed watching Alice in Wonderland. Next he decided to organize our videos & DVDs. He put my movies on a shelf by themselves and told me, "You must have a happy life because you can buy more movies for yourself because you have more room on your shelf now that the kids' movies are on a different shelf". Yup, a happy life! :goodvibes

Now he's working on homework from Friday and from last Friday since he was too sick to do homework last week.

Carol

I am about half way through the show.

So many of the things his parents did for and with Patrick are what has helped him to be who he is. Holding him while sitting on a swing, his Dad having him sit on his chest so Patrick could feel his face, etc. They did not wrap him in bubble wrap, they showed him the world.

He is an articulate young man. They are blessed that his intellect was not limited.

Back to the show.

Can you find a simple mumu style gown--even in the sleepware department--and paint a floral design on it? The other site you posted had a lot of variety in the floral designs so ANYTHING you painted would be authentic looking.

You could even have a solid color mumu. Add a striped shawl or stole and sandals. Then a flower in the hair and you are good to go.

John can go in costume of a "Mexican businessman on vacation"

since that looks a lot like an American businessman on vacation

or a Canadian businessman on vacation

or a British businessman on vacation.......

First try, I hope this works. This is my GD Serenity, she should fit right in with us Champagne girls, all in pink :cloud9:

Hi all!! :goodvibes

I am just going to jump in here ... and catch up later.

I had spent so much time on DIS, that I was not being very good on my treadmill. :sad2:

So I am making sure my 2-4miles is taken care of before hitting the computer ... but by then most of you are gone asleep. :surfweb: So, I read alone.

I want to at least say "hi" while someone is around ;)
