Hi everyone, forgive me if this info is on here and I'm just not finding it - I've spent the last hour searching the forum and I'm not finding the answer to my question!

This will be our first trip since MaxPass was introduced, and I'm still confused about how it will work. I know I need to buy it for each member of our group, but how do I do that when only one adult will have a phone with the Disneyland app on it? There will be two adults and 3 kids, all 10 and under, and as of right now, I'm the only one who will have the app. My friend might add it to her phone, but she's a little worried about it sucking up her data plan. I've found all kinds of info on how to add other people's tickets to the app by scanning them, but how do we purchase MaxPass for the whole crew? All the kids will be tall enough for all the rides, so there's no rider swap going on, and they're all going to want to ride every thrill ride they can, so we really need to work the Fastpasses.

We're arriving about lunchtime on a Thursday, leaving after lunch on Sunday, and will get MaxPass for at least one person all 4 days for the photopass part, and will likely have at least 2 days with all of us using it for the fastpasses.

Thanks for your help - I'm usually really on top of all the changes at DLR, but this one has thrown me!

All the tickets are loaded on the app. Then you buy maxpass for each ticket.

I’ve heard of doesn’t use that much data.

Thank you! We don't have the tickets in our hands yet, so I haven't been able to load them in, and this was bugging me trying to figure out how it would work!

Glad to hear it doesn't use much data - I'll let my friend know. She really likes some of the features, so I think she's going to end up adding it.

It is way easier to keep the entire party's tickets on ONE Disney App log-in - that ensures you all get the same MaxPass return time, so I would definitely have your friend at least download the app from home, but then both of you use the same log-in to manage Max Pass. That's what we did last trip and it worked great. (This would be instead of your friend putting her ticket & her children's tickets on her Disney Log in).

Good to know! Thank you! She always looks to me to be her Disney guide, so I'll let her know that's how we'll do it. I'll do all the MaxPass on my app, and she can keep the app for looking up menus for her kids (the part she was very interested in - hers are pickier than mine about food). I'll mostly be the one tracking wait times and navigating, so having everyones' MaxPass on my app makes sense.

When you go to purchase MaxPass, a little checkbox will appear next to each ticket. It will ask you to check which tickets you want to purchase MaxPass for when you start the process. The prompt will be "Create a FASTPASS Party." Then you will click the "purchase" button. This way you buy them all in one transaction.

Maxpass may not use that much data, but using the Disneyland App is a battery hog! I turn it on just to book the Maxpass and then close it right away. I use another app for wait times because Disneyland app is slower and sucks the life out of phone batteries. Come prepared.

So true. You need to turn off WiFi when in the parks too because it utilizes hot spots and your phone will constantly be trying to connect and maintain the connection. Also turn off location services to save battery.

Or bring along an external charger. You'll need it if you are doing long days.

Good tip on turning off wifi and location services! I do always bring along an external charger (or even two). Which reminds me, I need to order a new one because my favorite charger has decided it will no long recharge itself. Ugh.

Following this thread, thanks for all the good info! Last time I went was Sept. '16, before MaxPass. Chaperoning a band trip in May, and I'll need to know how this works because I'll probably be shepherding a group of kids who want the full experience with someone who knows their way around.

Just a reminder that MaxPass is not free. It costs $10 day/ Per person. Or $70.00 for Annual Pass Holders for the year. You can use the Disneyland App for free to check wait times, look at menus, see show schedules etc all for free. Maxpass will be an up-charge. There are other apps out there that I like better.....

Thanks, I'm aware.

Been using the Disney app since it came out, and I check it a lot even when I haven't been for a year, just to gauge what's trending lately. I was messing around with RideMax ten years ago when it was relatively new, and last time I was there I had that app as well to compare the Disney app. I found the Disney app was usually more accurate in terms of wait times, rides breaking down, FP return times, etc.
