Max & Mommy Go Deluxe - Eat Like Pooh, Bounce Like Tigger, Lose a Pound! Lots-o-Pix!

Oh, it's not in my picture and I forgot to mention that the kalamata petso sauce for the salmon now comes in a little cup on the side if you want it. It is really yummy!

I'll try to get our Akershus review up today... in the meantime, anyone care to guess what Max just tasted???

Ding! Ding! Ding! We've got a winner.

He spent quite a bit of time trying to get a bunch of kids on a field trip to try the Beverly... it was too funny! Then the kids were trying to get their chaperones to taste it. They were saying stuff like, "this stuff is horrible, don't ever try it... you've got to try it!!!" hahaha

Great so far! I've never been to the Mara, but the breakfast meals look just like the ones at ASMovies; I think the food courts at the resorts do a decent job on breakfast. :thumbsup2

Yes, the breakfast platters are pretty standard all over. I think the value resorts have quite a bit more variety because they only have the one restaurant. I remember getting a lot of different items at Pop when we stayed there on our first trip. The Mara has the standard Breakfast Platter, Mickey Waffle (adult is a big one and the kid's get two little ones), Croissant Sandwich, Oatmeal, Bagels, Pastries... that's pretty much it for breakfast... unless you want a package of Zebra Domes!!!

I prefer to grab breakfast at the resort because we can do that early enough to still get to the parks before opening and we don't waste any park time stopping for breakfast that way. Also, CS breakfasts aren't very easy to find in the parks, and they still offer the standard fare that you can get at the resorts anyway... unless you want a little treat from the Main Street Bake Shop or something like that.

Ready for more??? I've got a few hours left before it's time to ring in the new year... so how 'bout a review while we wait???

Dinner – Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
It was about 5:30 and we were once again famished! We strolled over toward the World Showcase and ducked into Mexico for a ride on the Gran Fiesta Tour. Once we were off I figured it was a good time to check in for our 6:15 ADR at Akershus – we were about 20 minutes early and were taken in immediately. First, we took pictures with Belle, which didn’t turn out half bad and we received the photos with our meal as an included benefit, then we were seated at a table for two right near the buffet. Our waitress was Hanne and she took our drink order and asked if we needed more time to decide on our dinner entrees. We were ready, so I ordered the Mustard-Glazed Grilled Salmon topped with Red Onion Jam, which was accompanied by Roasted Potatoes and Veggies, and an Iced Tea.

Max ordered the kid’s Grilled Chicken Breast with Corn and Boiled Potatoes and a Chocolate Milk.

We also got rolls with butter.

We were then directed to go over to the buffet to have unlimited appetizers. This was really good; I had Salad with Ranch Dressing, Potato Salad, Beet & Apple Salad, Smoked Salmon with Dill Cream Cheese, Peppered Smoked Fish, Peel & Eat Shrimp, Cucumber Salad, and some Muenster Cheese.

Max loaded up on meats, cheeses, shrimp, and smoked salmon.

We both enjoyed this part of the meal quite a bit. Our entrees came out next and they were both very good. Max loved his corn and potatoes, but was already too stuffed to eat more than a bite of his chicken, which he did say was “perfect”. My salmon was very good; I really liked the mustard sauce and caramelized onions. Underneath was a small pile of crisp green beans and baby carrots and some very good roasted potatoes. I was delighted with everything. When Hanne was ready to bring our dessert platter, she asked me to write down Max’s name for her because she had a little surprise for him. Out she came with a special Jr. Chef Certificate and a “design-your-own” cupcake platter for him. Apparently they can do one of these each night and she picked Max.

He wouldn’t allow me to take a picture of his special cupcake for some reason, he kept guarding it from my camera's viewfinder... but it was a vanilla cupcake, with cups of vanilla frosting, chocolate syrup, gummy bears, and Mickey head sprinkles. Oh, and I was able to sneak one picture before he caught me... don't tell him it's here!!!

He had fun making it, and that is usually all he does with that kind of thing. Then after the cupcake had sat there for a couple of minutes, he actually ate it, he really ate it, almost the entire thing too!

This left me with the entire dessert platter.

I liked the Rice Cream with Strawberry Sauce – it is just rice pudding.

The Flourless Chocolate Cake was far too rich and chocolaty for anyone who isn’t a serious chocolate junkie!

Then there was the School Bread – well, I like School Bread quite a lot.

Too bad I could only put away about a quarter of it. I didn’t notice much of a difference in this new version with the caramel frosting from the older version.

Oh, I almost forgot!!! Somewhere in between our entrees and dessert were the princesses! This is what most people go to Akershus for… I was hoping to see Snow White tonight.

First came Aurora,

next was Jasmine,

followed by Ariel,

and Cinderella was the finale.

Max was very happy to take pictures with them all, yay! We paid our bill, left Hanne a tip, and headed back into the night at Epcot.

I'm really enjoying living vicariously through your post! Keep it coming, please!:)

What great updates! Looking forward to more. Loved the beverly face!!

Thanks, glad you're liking them! Can you believe after all of these restaurants I wish we'd had even more???

Thank you! I really tried to capture that face!

I'll try to get more posted tonight...

The flourless chocolate cake was the only dessert I really liked there! I thought it tasted kind of like a soft homemade fudge.

It was just way too rich for me. I think you have to have a very serious love for chocolate in order to be able to enjoy this one, and I'm just not that big on chocolate. It was almost like pure cocoa. I can see how chocolate lovers would dream about this dessert...

OK, ready for more???

Breakfast – Boma
We had a breakfast ADR for 8:05am at Boma, we just love the breakfast at Boma. We were either right on time, or a couple of minutes late but we were seated right away and had a great server, John (I think we’ve had him before, he seemed very familiar). Today at the carving station they had Ham and Turkey (didn’t try them, so I can’t comment). I had Frunch and Coffee, Max had… SODA. Yeah, I let him have what he wants on vacation, so he asked John if he would mix up Coke and Sprite for his breakfast beverage and John was happy to oblige. Max feasted on big, gorgeous Strawberries, Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage and Bacon.

I helped myself to a bowl of Oatmeal with Brown Sugar,

Bobotie, Bacon, an Egg Over-Medium, a slice of Wheat Toast, and a strip of French Toast.

Everything was wonderful… as always. I didn’t get the Press-Pot of Kenyan Coffee – I just can’t seem to justify it when I’m the only one drinking it, it’s too much coffee for me, even though it is so good. Maybe next time I’ll just get it anyway and enjoy the indulgence.

Boma has always been a favorite of ours for both breakfast and dinner... I am starting to like the breakfast a little more than the dinner now. I think it is mostly in comparison to other meals because breakfast at Boma just outshines every other breakfast anywhere!

I'll be back later with a lunch review of Tony's Town Square... do you think we hated it as much as most DISers??? Or will we surprise you?
