We stayed at Mauna Lani a couple of weeks ago. Did not use the 2 room offer, but did a 5th night free deal. Were automatically upgraded to an oceanview room and opted to pay $30 per night extra for a deluxe ocean view (top floor, overlooking pool and ocean). Gorgeous facility. Grounds are unbelievable. Rooms cost aver $500 per night otherwise. Restaurants are pricey. Would go back in a New York minute!

Thanks for the info. We are considering a trip to Hawaii too.

which airport did you fly into and how long of a ride was it? Never been to HI, so curious about transportation.

I am also interested in learning more about the Mauna Lani. Did you pay for 4 nights for points and the 5th night was free? Did you pay $30 to upgrade x 4 nights (or 5 nights)? Do you have any details about the hotel you can share?

To get to Mauna Lani on the Big Island, you can either fly direct from La or San Fran to Kona-Keahole airport or fly to Honolulu and take Aloha or Hawaiian air over-there are many frequent flights- and then it's about a 15 minute drive north on the Kohala coast. You definitely need to rent a car as the resorts are spread out on this coast.

We paid for 4 nights with points and got the 5th night free. The $30/night upgrade to deluxe ocean view was x 5 nights ($150). The room was identical to an ocean view but was on the top floor and had a better ocean view. Service was great (robes, slippers, turndown service, ice 2x/day). The interior of the hotel is like being outside and the grounds are absolutely spectacular, covering many acres and including ancient fish ponds, etc. Celine Dion stayed at this resort a couple of weeks before we did (though in a private bungalow). Great beach with free cabanas, sea turtles. Fly into Kona (I think Delta even flies direct from St. Louis). If you like Kona, this resort is about 25 miles away, but there is a big shopping/eating area 5 miles south, a great restaurant (Cafe Pesto) about 8 miles north, and several restaurants on site (rather pricey as you might expect). The Big Island has always been our favorite, except when the whale watching on Maui is in season. (We also stayed at Kapalua on Maui and had a spectacular room there, also with points.)

We are new DVC members...as of 3 or 4 days ago. What was the DVC special? Thanks

Hi:

As prospective members, I was wondering if I too could get some info on the current offer? We are still trying to decide on just how many points to buy, and it would be nice to know what some of these offers are.

We have stayed on the Big Island twice in the last few years, but always stayed at the Hilton Waikola (sp?) (just can't get away from those monorails!!). The Mauni Lani was just up the road, if I remember correctly, and very nice.

I see that from the info I received, it is in the concierge collection and is 40-56 points per night, depending on view.

Any info wouold be greatly appreciated. Thanks! (And although we are buying DVC primarily for WDW, we probably won't be able to resist a chance to go back to the Big Island-our favorite!)
