We're going to be in DL in a month and we were watching some YouTube videos. I was watching the Matterhorn ride and I noticed that the walls were low and close. Is hitting your head possible on that ride? I know it's a stupid question. Thanks!

They are pretty high above you. Even on the fun dip on the Tomorrowland side you won't hit your head.

Enjoy. :)

The general clearance for the 'thrill' rides is 7 foot tall with arms extended. It looks close on the Matterhorn...designed to increase the thrill. You will be fine. I am 5'6" and ride the bobsleds with arms up most of the time. Never had a problem.

Also the ride sits so low to the ground its like your riding the rails which causes many people to not like the ride because it can feel very rough and jerky at times. Still alot of fun. You have to remember it was the first steel tube rollercoaster of its kind and little has changed with it.

DH is 6'4".. No problems with matterhorn :hippie:, other than leg room LOL...but that is always a problem for him. Enjoy your visit!!

I'm sorry, but why would they design a ride where someone could hit their head?

The "head knocker" sensation is pretty common on roller coasters. The designers want you to worry about that, but you're pretty safe. However, your knees may get brutalized from smacking around inside the sled like mine do.
