Taken from Darkbeer's article over on MA:

Not yet posted to the refurb schedule, but expected to be posted soon, the Matterhorn will get new sleds in the fall or in early 2009.

The new sleds will be basically the current version, with one minor safety change. The new sleds will feature "lockable" seat belts, similar to what Indiana Jones Adventure, Star Tours and Soarin' over California has. Still 2 people per section, and each section will have 2 of the new lockable seat belts. Hopefully it will not slow the loading and unloading of the sleds when it comes back from the installation of the sleds and the related equipment in the stations.

Thanks for posting this article--very informative. I also have a quick question...Based upon the pictures at the end, it looks as though most (or all) of the pool view rooms that used to look into DCA are going to be blocked by the new DVC. Is that accurate? Has anyone been recently that can confirm?

Does that mean that the only theme park view rooms left are those that face GRR?

Thanks for any input.:worship:

I had heard they were getting new bobsleds, but I think I was told they were going to be seating 3 (I might not be remembering right), but I definately remember being told that after the change, the height requirement was going to be changed (to taller). Anyone heard this??

Oh No!!! I hope it's after the first week of December!!! DD wouldn't go on it last time, and I'm hoping to get her on it this trip... :(

Hope it's either finished before or started after february :(

Good grief how long could it take to move out the old cars and shove in the new ones? It better not be in Sept. They should do it after Christmas. Tooooo many things closed lately.

We just got back on Saturday. Our room was a pool view on the second floor, so we could also see the construction. Over the top of the construction we could see the rides at CA. I think you are correct in that the view into the park will be more limited.

Sorry, off-topic again. Whidbey5, are you on Whidbey Island? My dad lives in Coupeville, and as soon as we can sell our house here in Phx, we're planning on looking for a house to rent on Whidbey (or possibly Anacortes), while we look for property to build on. Just curious where you're at?

DangerMouse, Good luck in selling your house. Were in Everett just a ferry ride over to Whidbey. Anacorter is really nice. My brother is up in Bellingham.
Hope your move goes smoothly.

We are looking for houses to rent in Oak Harbor for my boyfriend's brother (moving there from Florida). I will tell you that rental houses are a LOT cheapter on Whidby than in the Seattle Metro area. It seems (at least compared to the prices I'm used to :goodvibes) that you can get a pretty nice house for a reasonable rent.

Good luck on the housing search. Nice to have another DISer in the area!

Thankfully Matterhorn will still be up in Sept!

And wow, didn't realize so many people from WA were on the DL board! :goodvibes
