What did you think? So many plot twists to keep us hanging til the fall premiere. I was already hooked, but now -- aaggghhhh!

Kathy Bates is great. Some of the lesser cast members aren't quite as wonderful, but Olympia is compelling.

That was a great episode. I spent much of it thinking "What will be left for next season?" and was happy that there will still be plenty to explore in the next season. It was frustrating to be left on a cliffhanger, but that gives me time to think what I would like to see happen and what I think will happen.

Love watching Bates but found the show just hard to watch to the point I didn't care anymore.. same with Will Trent..it lost intial intent

does anyone know who played julian's mom? I recognize her but can't figure it out (and IMDb and the usual sources are of no help).

p.s. I really enjoy the show as well as Elsbeth.

@barkley, I also enjoy Elsbeth! Quirky, but fun!

Sometimes Matlock seemed too intense for me, but it always found me back watching.

Thursdays have been our CBS nights, George and Mandy, then Ghosts and finally the other two.

I was wonder how they were going to carry on but it ended ok. I’m glad she doesn’t have to hide anymore.

Totally agree—what a wild ride that finale was! The twists just kept coming, and Olivia really stole the show. Kathy Bates brought serious gravitas too. Can’t wait to see how it all unravels next season!

I liked the original Matlock series better. Seems like they tried to tap into the popularity of that show to build a following, but the name has nothing to do with the current show. When I first saw the ads, I thought she might be the granddaughter of the original lawyer, but clearly that isn't the case. Wondered how long the series would be able to string along her phony persona and back-story while trying to uncover evidence relating to her daughter's issues.

Yeah, same here. I have the last 5 episodes still to watch, and admit it just got very hard when Matlock started advocating mean and evil things (like encouraging Olympia to screw over her ex-husband) at the same time that the junior lawyers love lives also went to hell (and I hated the new love interest for the male junior lawyer - we already had the resident employee you didn't want to like - we didn't need 2).

But I'm undecided if I'll finish. Knowing the mystery doesn't resolve gives me less incentive b/c it was the only thing keeping me watching...

I was never a Kathy Bates fan until this show. I decided on a whim to try it and have been hooked since the first episode (never cared for the original show). The storylines kept me intrigued. I love the interaction between Mattie and Olympia and while I'm a huge fan of Jason Ritter, in this show, he does nothing for me.
I can't wait for next season.

As for Elsbeth, I love it. I've been a fan of Carrie Preston since she was on The Good Wife. She's quirky, nutty, and totally hilarious to watch. 2 hour season finale of that is this coming Thursday and I hope they leave us with a couple of open ended stories and that CBS doesn't cancel it.

You have missed a lot. Lots of twists.

sadly it's only a one hour finale (second episode is re-run of the Christmas influencer episode), gladly-cbs has renewed it :thumbsup2
