Matching shirts at Disney: Family fun or the epitome of geekdom? A poll!

Matching shirts: family fun or geek alert?

  • Sure! What's a matching shirt on vacation, anyway, if not fun?

  • Are you kidding? Doofus alert!

  • Ok for the kids, but not for grownups.

  • Eh, who cares? I'm on vacation!

I'm a true fence sitter on this issue, and it's a hot one this election year. ;) Are matching family shirts a-ok on vacation or is it fodder for having a "kick me" sign stuck to one's back?

I think it's kind of fun...we don't always have exact matching shirts, but we'll go for a theme of the day...Dad will wear a Grumpy shirt, I'll wear a Dopey shirt that says 'I'm with Grumpy' and Mom will wear some other form of Seven Dwarfs shirt. It's cute. If you can get away with wearing mouse ears, why not wear coordinating shirts?????

I'd have to say Doofus Alert! But then again this is WDW and we all know we do things at WDW that we would never do anywhere else.

For example... wearing a fanny pack that makes you look like you have 3 stomachs protruding instead of just 2!:teeth: You think I'd be caught dead outside WDW with one of those??????

Anyway, back to the original question... yes, it's a doofus alert, but I think I'm going to try being a doofus in 11 days!

No kidding. I'd *never* wear a fanny pack outside of WDW! Yikes!!

I think it's fun!

Not to mention it helps with security. Not that I ever plan on losing a child.. but if it did happen, you could just point at your shirt and say "He's wearing this same shirt!"

I think it's fun!!!

Where else can you walk around looking and acting like a big doofus!!!

We did it last year, so I'm a big geek (because it was my idea!!!)

I'm a big dufus in everyday life...so not much would be different;)

Actually my friend and I considered having shirts made for our Dec. trip with "feminist princess" decals...but we might be too chicken!

Wow, the result's are pretty close right now.

I put my kids in matching shirts, mostly in case we get separated, or someone gets lost. I also use bright colors, to spot them in a crowd.

As they get older, I'll stop this practice, but for now, I like the idea, and all of my pictures look cute.

I love it! I love seeing the families and friends who wear the same t-shirts! Now ... if I could just get my family to do that! I guess they are of the "doofus" opinion.

We would all wear "We are with Stupid" shirt and would draw straws to see how ould wear the shirt that said "I'm Stupid"

My DH hated this at first. I used to think it was geeky.
Then we had four kids.
Now it is a matter of survival!::yes::
When we are at any big theme park (or yeehaw - The Texas State Fair) we wear obnoxious bright color T-shirts. Not only can we spot the kidos, they can find us!
I know...we're geeks:rolleyes:

Of course, the shirt MUST be lime green!!!

i vote doofus alert. my in-laws are really big on wearing matching t-shirts wherever they go on vacation and i think it's really lame. especially since not all of us are the same body type, and inevitably, the t-shirts they pick look horrible on me.

Hey, I used to swear I'd never drive a geekmobile (aka minivan). Now I'm a mother of three boys and find my self a proud geek-mama. LOL! So wearing matching shirts may not be so bad after all!

I think it is fine in Disney. Anywhere else, even another amusement park, I would say no. But Disney is about letting loose and being silly. So, I think only in Disney is it ok.

We're geeky and proud! We do this on all "big" trips, fair, amusement park, etc. I may sound paranoid, but I figure a perv isn't going to snag a kid whose shirt matches the family, and move on to easier (and less dorky) prey.

Besides, I'm too old and crotchety to care what others think.

Doofus all the way!

As for spotting the kids if they wander, we took a picture of them in what they were wearing every day before we started out in the parks.. we said it was our Heading out picture, but little did they know what it could have been for.
