Do you get matching shirts for your family when you goto WDW? I think they are so cute in pictures and finally convinced DH we could get a set for our next trip. :)
I see you can get them on Disneyshopping.com, but can't put something like "Roo Family Vacation 2007" - just a first name. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to find these?
Thanks!

LOL - That's part of the reason I want to do it NOW while DS is just thrilled to wear anything with Mee-ee Mouse on it. :) I was shocked when DH said OK and now want to order ASAP, before he changes his mind!

Strike while you can!

I actually bought three matching Disney shirts in different colors online on clearance. DS said that he'd wear his shirt but not at the same time that I wore mine. Ah, kids.

When we ordered ours from DisneyDirect.com we put The ___ at Disneyworld! and then on the second line we put the first name of whoever the shirt belonged to. So it would look like this
The Smith's at Walt Disney World
Megan

We have them done at a local place. Check with your local youth baseball league to find out where they get their jerseys and parents shirts done. Also, places like the cancer society, kidney foundation etc.. are always having t-shirts made for events. They should be able to tell you of a local place.

Head over to the Creative DISign board here on the Just for Fun Forum on the Dis. There are a lot of very talented people over there designing shirts that you simply iron-on. They are much more creative than the ones on disneyshopping's site.

We always wear matching shirts to the park at least one time on our trip. DH resisted at first, but after being stopped for 1oth time in one morning at Fantastyland with people praising our shirts, he doesn't put up a fuss at all anymore!

OT...
Be careful putting a child's first name on the outside of their clothing. While it looks really cute, it also allows complete strangers to know your child's name. Calling a child by their first name is a tactic used by "not nice" people to gain a child's trust. Please don't flame me...I'm not trying to scare anyone. I just know that is one of the warnings that is offered by child advocates in doing our best to protect our children.
I'll get off my soapbox now... :)

:thumbsup2

U know I didnt think of that, but it's true!! I could just see my son talking to someone because of a fave character on his shirt, especially if they knew his name. Im still trying to explain to be nice to strangers, but not all strangers are nice...YA know?!

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check out Disney Direct and the DISigns forum :)

Minnierocks - that was part of my problem with the options at disneyshopping.com. It is so hard to explain to a child that small that just because someone knows their name doesn't mean they "know" them. Probably not a big risk, but not worth it to me.

It's always better to err on the side of caution...than to wish you had...
Good luck in your quest! :goodvibes

Of course, you have to do whatever fits with your own comfort level. Personally, though, I don't worry a bit about having my child's name on his shirt at Disney World, or anywhere else, really. Honestly, all anyone would have to do is stand within a few feet of us for a minute or two, and I guarantee, they would know his name by the 400th time they heard me say, "Paul, put that down!" or "Don't eat that, Paul!" And, of course, it's on the back of his Mouse Ears, too. So, it's obviously not something I see as a real issue. Like I said, though, others will disagree. Do whatever feels right to you.

My opinion, though, is get the shirts! They're fun and the CMs will give you lots of fun attention. There are really cute ones on the design board. I'm having some fun one done for our trip in May.

Good point, GEM. I really don't think it is horrible that people do it...just for me the benefit is even smaller than the risk, if that makes sense. :goodvibes

I just checked Disneydirect.com and found out it's the same thing as disneyshopping.com. And I thought that was the site that I had seen mentioned on here as having great personalized shirts. So, either I am missing something or they just changed what they carry in terms of personalized shirts.

From time to time they are on sale for like 9.99 each (or less) and you can get free shipping or extra 20% (or so) off with the right coupon code. The shirts are very high quality and super soft - and they run large. We had "Dunn family vacation 2005" and the kids names on theirs and "Mommy" and "Daddy." I've actually gotten 2 years of use out of them... but note, we ONLY wear them at Disney because I don't want the kids walking around with a shirt with their name on it. Doesn't bother me as much at Disney because good lord, so many kids do it. It's not like my kids stand out.

It must be the name! My DS is Paul too (he's 6 1/2) and all I seem to say is "Paul, get back here, Paul don't touch that, Paul don't climb on that.....over and over again. There are days I swear I think I've said his name a hundred times!

My family wears matching WDW outfits (shirts & shorts!!) for each day of our 7-9 day trips.

We've got about a dozen sets of matching Disney t-shirts (even have some matching long sleeve Disney tees & sweatshirts). We all wear black or navy blue shorts, depending upon which shirts we're wearing.

The pictures look great with the matching shirts!
And like the above poster mentioned....we get cute comments from castmembers all the time.

I have gotten most matching sets from Disneyshopping.com.

Last year, they had an "antenna ball" logo that was really cute.
I got sets of those in 3 colors & also the long-sleeved version.

My family isn't thrilled about wearing them, but they don't really care one way or the other. They know that, for all I do for them all year, they can do this for me without complaining.

This May, all 4 grandparents are coming with us, so now I'm working on getting 8 matching shirts for each day. :faint:

We've gotten a lot of mileage on some Disney Store tropical themed shirts we got a few years back for our whole family going on a trip. They have Mickey and Minnie with a tropical pattern and came in kid and adult sizes.

We have to wear them at least on day of our trip, and ALWAYS get fun comments from CM's and others. We've gotten past the trauma of the "matchy" thing, and it is super helpful to find your family in a crowd of people when you know exactly what shirt they are wearing. Other days we try to wear similar colors anyway for the "easy to find" thing.

I know these shirts aren't in stock anymore (used to have matching mom and daugher dresses in the line too), but in recent years I've seem similar tropical themed family shirts at Disney Stores and online. We even got to wear them while being Grand Marshalls in MGM parade - talk about getting attention!!! Here is a photo of some of our family after the parade getting a surpise meet and greet with Lilo and Stitch in MGM's VIP lounge room (Thanks to CM Hank!!!) Special pic for us since that was my dad's last trip to WDW with us - he passed away that fall.
