Does anyone have a file for their checklist for camping? Tent camping especially?? I have 6 months, so it is jumping the gun, however, I thought by looking over a seasoned FW must have list, I can make sure we have all the items we'll need. I have only ever camped for one night at a time! And we ate out, lol!

What I have bought over the past couple of months so far: (we are staying 7 nites at FW)

10 person cabin tent
1 kids air matress
1 queen air mattress
2 adult chairs
1 kid MICKEY! chair
1 quick set folding table
1 tent fan/light
1 huge 7 day cooler
1 double burner stove
1 single burner sove (it was $3 new, couldn't pass it up)
hot dog roasters
pie roasters
fire pit grill (do FW sites have campfires??)
1 LED lantern
1 propane latern
flashlights
1 adult fishing rod
1 kids fishing rod
1 perculator
1 propane grill (small)
1 pot and 2 new frying pans
matches in a water proof container
tablecloth for the picnic table
OFF lanterns and insert refills
plastic plates, bowls, glasses, serving bowls, and forks/spoons

I think that is it. Should I buy a shade canopy or a netted canopy for over the picnic table?

YES, you do need a canopy or screen room for outside your tent/over the picnic table. Mainly because if it is raining, you don't want to be stuck in your tent. I LOVE sitting under my shelter listening to the rain come down.

I also try and set up my shelter at the entrance of my tent so that I can enter/exit my tent dry. I can then leave shoes outside the door and hang my rain gear from the frame of the shelter.

No, Ft. Wildernes campsites do not have campfire pits. They do have charcoal grills. You CAN NOT build an open fire at your campsite. You can not build a wood fire in the grill. If there are no general fire restrictions, you can have a fire in a fully enclosed/covered fire pit.

A couple of other things. Bring plenty of garbage bags.

You need a ground cloth for your tent. I buy a roll of 6 mil painters plastic and cut two ground cloths to fit. 1 for underneath the tent and one for inside the tent. Also when I camp at Ft. Wilderness, I also purchase the very thin painters plastic and lay that down first underneath everything, then when I break camp, I just ditch that first layer of plastic. The sand gets really gross and it keeps your tent cleaner.

Speaking about tracking stuff into a tent bring a door mat. Something rough.

Also you don't have any utensils to cook with. We also like one of those flexible cutting mats.

If you are going to do dishes a folding drying rack is great also and speaking of dishes you will need some dishpans.

Instead of matches a sparker works better and gets your fingers away from the burner.

Collapsible water carrier

I'm sure I'll of more stuff.

It's good to see that your list includes fishing equipment.:thumbsup2

Folk have no idea how important that is to camping, yet so few put it on their list.:confused3
