We would like to meet our Sunday obligation as Catholics without driving too far, but I have read some negative things on other sites about this church. Some say this "parish" appears more focused on fundraising than anything else. Other people appeared thankful for a church close to Walt Disney World. Any opinions?

I typed the name of the church into the search option above and got nothing. Do I have the church name wrong?

The name is "Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine" and you might have some better luck finding out more elsewhere. It's a really lovely church, and no better or worse than any other. They know a pretty good amount of people who come are tourists, but it doesn't seem to detract. They do seem to do fundraising, but not too more than any other church I've seen. If the little things might bother you, I would look into finding a different one; if not, it's worth going to. It's really convenient since ther aren't any more services on WDW property anymore.

It is a beautiful church and we absolutely love going there, in fact we are staying so close to the shrine this time that we will be going during the week too because we honestly just love spending time there. I think you have to bear in mind that it is a shrine and not a parish so there isn't as much of a community as you may be used to and so for that reason it could be seen as just being into fundraising. However, I wouldn't say they really push the fundraising. There are envelopes in the back of the pew with suggested donations written on the back but obviously you can just give whatever you can afford at the offetory. I have seen people just pass the basket on without giving anything before. I would say it is definitely worth a visit for Sunday mass. When we used to stay in kissimmee we used to go to Holy Redeemer and that was much more community focused but we really don't have any problems with Mary Queen of the Universe, like I said, we love it :goodvibes.
